Location
The cleaning staff that did the room every day.
Avoid renting this apartment. The walls are dumped, full of mould, and the whole apartment smells really bad.
The pictures that you see are beautiful, but the apartment looks something else.
They charge 4% extra if you pay by card. You get a message after booking.
Don't accept this extra charge. Just paid what says in Booking.com

The location was perfect. We could see the main square and lagoon. Good for walking to everything. We were able to adjust the temperature of the room to our preference.
No elevator but worth the climb. We stayed on the top floor and never heard a sound until opening the balcony door.

We loved the location, it’s literally in front of the main plaza close to everything. If you can’t have water front this location is the next best thing.
it could use a small refrigerator to keep drinks cold.

one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in - the staff were so friendly and helpful and assisted us in booking in tours of the lagoon, the rooms were super clean and serviced everyday, incredible location right in the middle of everything, extremely fast Wi-Fi too, and the shower was hot with great pressure - honestly everything you could want in a hotel. I will be coming back and telling all my friends to stay here as well!!
nothing I didn’t like, it was honestly perfect! :)

The linnen were clean
There was a horrible sewer smell in the bathroom, that was also coming into the room. This completely ruined our stay. Staff were nice and tried to help but nothing worked and they were already aware of the issue (first time we came down to ask, they told us they already contacted maintenance) but still decided to rent out this room… horrible

super central, beds are ok.
the bathroom had a horrible smell. door needed to be closed at all times otherwise you could not be in the room. they gave you discounts for some places but we never got them in the end.

noting
we asked to do late check out, and we’re told it’s okay and we can stay until 12:30 (30 minutes after original checkout time)
I was packing my bags and needed help from my friend who was not staying at the hotel to take down the bags (there’s a lot of stairs from the room to the street)
when I asked him to come help me apparently the manager was there and started getting mad and saying he could not get to our room.
I didn’t argue and went up my self to finish packing, and then that manager followed me upstairs and started screaming I need to get out now from the room, and that I need to pay more because I’m late (it was 12:15)
she stood over my head making me throw everything out of the room and finish packing in the hall while it’s 35c degrees outside.
she also started threatening me that she will call the police..
it was a horrible experience and I was horrified and felt terribly miserable.

location and the discounts with the wristband
it was a bit pricey

Location was great. Discounts at the restaurants and bars around the hotel were great. Good food and drinks. Friendly staff. Water refill station.
The bathroom was extremely humid and had no fan. Only a window which did not help much. There were no places to hang hand towels in the bathroom near the sink and the bare minimum counter space in the bathroom for toiletries. I had to put mine on top of the toilet-not ideal. A shelf or two in the bathroom would help. More hooks to hang clothes and towels in the room itself would also be great. The pictures of the room made it look much bigger than it was in reality. There were new hairs on the floor in the bathroom after cleaning (seemed the mop water they used was not changed often enough between rooms). After I commented the first morning, the following day my floors were much cleaner, but on the third day, the floors in my room were dirtier again than when I left the room in the morning. I was a bit disappointed with the hotel itself, but think it was worth the stay for the location.

Location
On place they charged additional 4% of the price only because I paid by card. I couldnt find this information on the webpage before I reserved the room, neither in the reception. So it looked like cheating tourists

Incredible location, convenient to walk everywhere in Bacalar. Very close to restaurants and shopping.
The bathroom smelled like sewage and there was no where to put toiletries. There was a big empty nook behind the door that would be perfect for shelves!
The little patio was tiny and useless, and surrounded on all sides by tall concrete walls so it had no view at all, and no space for chairs anyway. We hung our towels out there to dry, and in the morning the entire patio (including our towels) was covered with cigarette butts.
There is no pool or any outdoor seating, which is really weird for a property in this town.
The TV apparently used to be mounted to the wall but is now placed on a dresser. But the empty mount remains on the wall. It would not be that hard to take it down and just make the room look a little nicer and more finished.

central location, if you are in luck you get a room with a view of the laguna and you can see the sunrise. Hotel is right at the square with two lively restaurants (you get a 10% discount at them) but it wasnt too loud at the evening/night - good soundproofing.
At the arrival the room was so so much perfumated - didnt know if they wanted to cover up the damp smell or something. I dont know later or we didnt smell anything special. The room is quite small, but ok I guess for a quick stop. beds are super short and not that wide.

perfect location!!! right in the middle of downtown upstairs from bars and restaurants!

The receptionist was very nice and helpful, I managed to lock myself out on my balcony with my bedroom door locked and she came to get me out .
It could have been a little cleaner, also there was alot of noise coming from the bar and other places nearby its certainly not quiet until at least 1am .
Also signs are needed on the balcony doors as I went out to read and shut the door to stop mosquitos getting in and it locked me out !! Luckily I could raise the alarm over the balcony so just be careful.

The hotel was well located, clean, and the staff at the front was helpful.
the room was incredibly small with two beds, no deal, or place to work. there was no pool or common area to spend time

the music is so loud until early hours of the morning. it was insane and we had to leave after one night even though we paid for three.

The location was perfect. The hammocks included made it extra relaxing. They allowed me to store the bike I rented in the living room.
We had to ask for basic items that were missing multiple times, because they kept forgetting to bring them to us. The cleaning staff left water running and the windows open on one occasion and forgot to clean our apartment one of the days we stayed there.

We had two rooms - cheaper and the more expensive.
The cheaper one was not that good. It shared a wall with the bar and in the bar, even thought no one was there many times, the music was just so extremely loud, we couldnt even hear a TV in the room.
The second room was good.
Loved the shower and water pressure.
Also Bacalar is just amazing city with the great vibe. There is a party every night in the city and you can hear everything but it didn't bother me that much.
I really enjoyed our stay in Bacalar, totally recommed the city for even long term stays (home office and nomading) and I would definitely be back.
You can here everyhing becuase it's city center. Also, no one cleaned our room during the 3 night stay, even though we asked to.

Friendly staff, great location - right at the main square and very close to the lagoon, clean rooms, comfortable beds, good shower pressure, A/C.

Loved the water pressure was unbelievable strong compared to other locations. Loved the location, super central walking distance to all hot spot. Modern room and decor, wifi excellent. Big shower and bathroom.
Very small view of the Lagoon but that was the minor because would not stay in room just there for sleep.
I didn't appreciate at all the check-in, they wanted to charge me 4% fee to pay with credit card, explained to them I had a confirmed price would not pay anymore than what was subject in Booking.com price. Also told them it was not permited by law to do so. Was there trying to find a ScotiaBank ATM which there is none, was not about to pay fee for them to save. Realy bad business practices, in your price all expenses should be included. Finally told them to cancel rsvp and would go to other Hotel that don't charge 4% and the removed the 4% and charged my CC without the 4% fee.

Convenient location off the main town square. Appreciated the desk and coffee maker that was provided in the suite room. WiFi was great. I worked remotely from the room without any issues.
Balcony door in the suite room locks behind you with no way to get back into the room. Got stuck out on balcony with no cellphone. Climbing down was kinda a fun adventure. Makes for a good story to take back home :)
