La piscine qui était originale avec le plongeoir et le petit déjeuner était très bon.
Il était spécifié réserver aux adultes (sur booking) mais il y avait des enfants. N’espérez pas avoir le wifi il est inexistant passé la porte de votre chambre dans les parties il est passable. La taille des chambres est extrêmement petite et il faut se contorsionner pour aller se coucher. Le prix est très élevé par rapport à la taille de la chambre.

Gutes Frühstück (bis auf die Poached eggs), hauseigene Bienenpflegeprodukte sind super. Leider ist nur ein Kaffee Amerikano im Preis enthalten.
Die Zimmer sind klein, dunkel und unkomfortabel. Zimmer wurde erst auf Anfrage gereinigt.
Preis - Leistung stimmt leider überhaupt nicht.
Auch wenn es so aussieht, als wäre das Hotel direkt an der Lagune, hat man nicht einmal einen Blick darauf.
Das Hotel haben wir aufgrund der guten Bewertungen gebucht. Es war jedoch seit langem das schlechteste Hotel, das wir besuchten. Wir haben uns sehr unwohl dort gefühlt.

La planta baja tiene una vista fenomenal; alberca turquesa, camastros, bar. Aunque un taco a 90 pesos es bastante exagerado.
Es hasta el momento, !la peor habitación de hotel en la que estuve en mi vida! La cama está ubicada en la parte de arriba -a menos de un metro del techo- no cuenta con base de cama, ni cabecera, ni mesas de noche porque sólo cabe un colchón a ras de suelo. Las ventanas que dan a la cama son pequeñas y angostas, sólo puedes abrir una para sentir la escasa circulación del aire.
Por el calor y la falta de ventilación, te ves obligada a prender el aire acondicionado que está a la misma altura de la cama y me resfrié desde la primera noche. No hay médico en el hotel y por lo visto tampoco hay botiquín porque escribí solicitando medicina básica para el resfriado y no tenían.
El colchón de lo que ofrecen como "cama" estaba tan pegado al techo, que mi sensación fue la de estar acostada en un ataúd, horrible!
Terrible también la escalera para llegar a la cama; hecha de unos cajones de madera empinadísimos. Subir y bajar fue una muy mala experiencia y entendí porqué no aceptan niños menores de 12 años! Es un riesgo para ellos y también para cualquier adulto mayor.
Otro lío fue la energía. Cómo es un hotel amigable con el medio ambiente, la luz duraba prendida segundos. Es decir, me quedé a mitad de la escalera peligrosa a oscuras, tanteando con los pies y las manos para no matarme, porque la luz se apagaba antes de usarla.
Desde mi primera noche informé mi incomodidad y la respuesta fue que los términos y condiciones ya los había aceptado en Booking, que no había reembolso y que las fotos de la habitación estaban también en la plataforma. Aunque es cierto, me hubiera gustado sentir personal más empático, dispuesto a ofrecer alternativas. Un sofá afuera, era mejor opción para dormir que mi habitación.
No recomendaría nunca el hotel, las habitaciones son incómodas y muy peligrosas.

El hotel es tal como se ve en las fotos, me gustó su concepto de habitaciones, su arquitectura y diseño, el desayuno es riquísimo, la alberca super agusto y excelente sorpresa la zona de alberca para clavados. Pet friendly!!

Makaaba is in a great location on the road just behind the lake and also just a few minutes walk to the town centre.
Inside the hotel itself it has a beautiful pool/ bar/ lounge area. It's very chilled vibes which is nice.
We also had breakfast included in the restaurant which was delicious and lots of options.
The key code locking system on the hotel room doors was actually super helpful so you don't have to worry about keys and whether you have forgotten them or not!
Where the communal pool area exceeded itself, we felt like the bedrooms lacked. The bed was a great size but our room was very which gave a very different vibe to the rest of the hotel. Although you are not spending your holiday in your hotel room you at least want to enjoy your time within it! We also had no door to the bathroom just a curtain. It wasn't a massive deal but worth mentioning that the WiFi does not reach the rooms.
There is a wardrobe hanging space but it would have been great to have a drawer space to unpack some clothes into.
Overall I would say it gave more luxury hostel vibe.

The pool and bar area are really nice, such a great place to hang out and relax. The rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. Location is perfect, right across the street from a public pier and lots of good restaurants nearby. The staff was really nice and friendly. The included breakfast was fantastic, great way to start every day!
The music at the pool was a little louder and played a little later than I would like. Also the stairs/ladder to the bed would be tricky for anyone with limited mobility.

Este hotel es un sueño. Al llegar nos explicaron todas las partes del hotel y qué lo hacía especial. ¡tiene un salto de 3m a la piscina! La habitación tiene la cama en la parte superior y tienes que subir por unas escaleras (ojo si tienes alguna lesión de rodilla). El baño es perfecto y te ofrecen todo lo necesario de higiene. Tienes muchísimas opciones para desayunar, incluso vegetarianas-veganas, y está todo buenísimo 😊 el hotel está al lado del centro y de un muelle son excursiones en lancha, así que puedes hacerlo todo caminando.
Únicamente recalcaría que si eres una persona con poca movilidad o con lesión en rodillas, la escalera no es cómoda para subir a la cama.

Sinceramente, aunque las habitaciones no son muy confortables y seguramente faltaria una renovación( dormimos un dia en una habitacion muy pequeña y otro dia en una mas grande ), sin duda recomendaria la estancia aqui. La piscina y las zonas comunes son brutales, increibles. Y el desayuno ya es de lo mejor que he probado en mi vida. 100% recomendable.
Las habitaciones son muy mejorables, faltaria un mantenimiento en las grandes, y en las pequeñas no son muy comodas.

The overall facilities of the hotel are new, beautiful, modern within simplicity, all in an eco-friendly way. The restaurant was very good. People are very smiling and friendly.

- The room is nice, but it is not comfortable, since you have to climb some very large steps (closet) to get to the bed.
- after 10 pm, there is no receptionist to assist you in case of any problem
- I did not feel listened to by the people who work in the hotel, nor by the person who was at the reception due to the problem of cockroaches that I had in the room, in the shower and near the bed (the bed does not have a base to separate the mattress from the floor)

Read before your visit:
Me and my girlfriend were travelling through Mexico for 2 weeks and we decided to visit Bacalar and we came across this hotel in booking.
This was our fastest hotel stay ever.
When we got there we were very disappointed by the outside of it, It was all under construction (as the images show)
We went inside and were welcomed very politely by a young lady that worked there, that handled the payment and went with us to see the room.
On the way there we see the “fantastic” pools as they show in their pictures, unfortunately, they are not cleaned, as I was even disgusted looking at it and I would never swim in it.
We arrive to the room, clearly not as the pictures. It was full of humidity and it was so small that it felt like a prison cell.
The lady leaves and we check the room.
My girlfriend starts to scream, saying for me to check under the bed, I check it and to my surprise, I find USED PANTIES AND CONDOMS under the bed!(proof attached)
This is outrageous, I go down and call the lady and she was clearly embarrassed by what happened, I asked to speak with the manager and for a refund. The first request was denied and they gave me a refund in cash and I got out of there.
To my surprise the “clever” manager mentioned to booking that I cancelled the booking (when I did not, I went there and did the check in) and why he did that? So I could not get access to this review.
I contacted booking and they allowed me to write this review.

Our stay at Hotel Makaaba was exceptional! The included breakfast was filling, beautifully presented, and tasty, including a sweet plate and a savory plate. It was nice to hang out near the pool and there was plenty of shade. There were lots of communal areas to read, relax, or enjoy a drink from the hotel bar. The lagoon was just across the street and very close to a quiet public dock. The hotel was in touch with a local tour company called DayTour Bacalar that offered sailboat and SUP tours. Additionally, the hotel offered a number of other services like massages, mezcal tastings, etc., and the staff was super helpful in arranging these activities. The room was very comfortable and they offered pool towels. The air conditioning and fan helped keep the room cool and comfortable at night. The shower was great and the toiletries provided were exceptional. Filtered water was also provided in the room.
There were just a few ants, but it was not an issue.
