Lovely hotel. Clean and a good breakfast
A gentleman with long ginger hair on reception was rude.
We only wanted a drink after our meal at a local pub. It had been a long emotional day as we had travelled from South Wales to a close family funeral.
To be told the bar was closed and we couldn't get a drink from anywhere as the wedding bar was free. And tough.
And then directed to a pub that was told to be closer than the golden lion which in fact was a mile away. This was definitely done in spite.
We appreciate that hotels make good money from weddings but clearly at the cost of the other guests there not at the wedding reception.
We had previously stayed when our relative was ill and all staff made us feel welcomed.
We had elderly relatives with us and a cousin with additional walking needs. He was unable to walk to the pub down the road.
A little decorum, thoughtfulness and kindness perhaps need to be considered in future, and a little less assumption that ALL guests are going to the in house function.
This gentleman on reception also made a sharp remark to my 84 year old mother because she didn't hear him the first time. Not sure customer service is your vocation sir!!

Very nice room, comfy large bed . Staff pleasant and welcoming.
Waited 3/4 of an hour for food., in the evening, but delicious when it came. Breakfast very dried up on first day, but kindly waitress ordered freshly cook one, delicious. Second day it was nice and fresh.

Clean and lovely atmosphere
Beautiful building

Beautiful room with garden view, very comfortable and spacious with plenty of little extras such as bottles of water teas coffees and hot chocolate & biscuits and Elemis products in the bathroom and a very nice restaurant onsite - very happy
For a four star hotel the staff could have been a bit more friendly particularly the receptionists - very efficient bar and waiting staff and receptionists just not very friendly, no friendly greeting when we arrived to check in or as we passed reception each day - it would make a big difference for such a nice place

Beautiful building and surroundings. Very comfortable garden room. Reception staff very pleasant and helpful. Ideal to have bus stop for short journey into Chester just down the road. Breakfast and main course at dinner very good.
Staff in bar/restaurant would benefit from some training. plus the panna cotta was so firm the spoon wouldn't go in.!

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding event. Upon arrival we found the reception staff just get her coat on and go the other one was on the phone, upon finishing the call she dealt with us and was polite! We went up to the room and found the hotel looking good and was expecting a good size room which it was and had everything we needed for a short stay(2nights) my partner decided to have a shower the bath was very narrow in his words like walking the plank! Been a professional cleaner I found lots of dust upon the head board and tops of picture frames the fridge looked like it hadn't been wiped out before we arrived there were crumbs on the floor beside the bed that clearly haven't been vaced up! We had a smell of sewage in the bath room and every time we flushed the toilet was stronger early hours. The beds was very hard and very uncomfortable and we didn't sleep much during our stay. We stayed for a wedding and traveled a distance. The wedding looked lovely but guests was left long periods of time not knowing the agenda the rooms were very cold and staff couldn't even light a coal fire! The waiting staff were very rude and didn't no what they was doing, the chicken was very raw! We had to ask for water three times before receiving it on the table! Staff was coming over and taking plates before the table had even finished there food (we had a child on our table).
The breakfast was very poor on Sunday morning but was satisfactory on Monday only because I decided on pancakes so they were fresh, the cooked breakfast was very cold I was very disappointed to find out the this was a 4star hotel I've seen /been to better 1 star .
I hope you take the time to read this and take points on board especially in regards to cleanliness and the breakfast but most of all your very rude staff!

Everything was brilliant. All the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful . A big thank you to the staff who kept the room very clean and ensured there was plenty of tea etc to drink. Won't hesitate to return soon. Parking excellent . There is a bus just outside the hotel which will take you into Chester and Wrexham which runs every fifteen minutes.

Good location, rooms are kitted out to a good standard, the beds were comfortable and the rooms were well heated.
internal route to Oscar’s resturant was a little misleading although sign posted.

On our arrival we had very nice welcome and we were able to get a room upgrade, this was of a huge benefit as my wife was in pain due to the amount of travelling.
I must thank your staff for this as our room was amazing.
The only issue I have is that within our room only 1 radiator was working, and although I did come to reception and make them aware nothing was done so my wife and I had to put extra clothes on just to keep warm and get through the night.
It’s a pity as everything else was fine.
