Convenient location
Hot rooms. Unable to open the windows due to the noise from the VERY busy train line right next the the hotel. Single glazed windows. No blackout curtains. Power point near bed, was actually at the bottom of the bed and caused a trip hazard in the night if needed to use the bathroom. Shower was pointless, absolutely no water pressure! The room was dirty, marks on the sheets and dust in the vents. Bathroom tap was broken. Walls are so thin we could hear the next room flick a switch! ( I wear hearing aids and this was still audible) Upon arrival, they only had the room set up for 1 person, when my booking clearly stated 2 adults. The carpark was tiny and cars were parked everywhere as it is above a pub and the locals clearly don’t appreciate people staying in the hotel. No instruction was given on how to gain access to the hotel after hours and we were left outside needing to call the emergency contact at midnight. No one on the desk at check out to discuss our issues and when a complaint was raised to customer service, they have done nothing to deal with our partial refund request!

Very helpful and welcoming host and hostess. Excellent bar food, perfect location. Comfortable bed exactly what I needed. Close parking.
Plumbing needs updating. Water too hot, scalding, cold water tap only a trickle. Didn’t spoil my stay though

The staff on reception, in the bar and restaurant were lovely
Rooms were a bit dated and bathroom could have done with some new taps. Breakfast wasn’t great. Cheap sausages and portion size very small.

Location is good
Looking to charge £15 for an early book in. Bar is meant to be open to 12.30am yet the bar man would not serve at 12.10 yet he went back in as was clearly drinking with the staff or others. Breakfast was mean with one sausage so just cutting corners. Shower curtain had orange waste round the bottom and needed changing
3.4
The breakfast area was good but everything else did not meet expectations.
The rooms, they are doing false advertising, the photos on the website is nothing like the rooms. The room we stayed in was very run down, very poor.

The location was superb for our purposes, the room was well equipped, The food was delicious, we ate at the bar as there too few tables in the bar. Breakfast in the dining room was good although they got our order wrong.
I stayed at the George on 21 July 23 and was greeted by the landlady who seemed nice. Our room was upstairs, along the landing, with stairs, through a fire door, down some more stairs and eventually we found the room. Apart from the main stairs the subsequent stairs had no bannisters or handrails. The mattress was thin and there was only one pillow per guest.
There was only one parking space for disabled people, which I am. When the space as occupied on our return from our evening out, the manager was not at all bothered and just said park behind her! Overall the parking is bad!

Comfortable, clean and staff very friendly. Very reasonably priced breakfast which was very good.
Nothing

Location for Englefield Estate was brilliant. Bar was good and friendly, decent and affordable food. Bed comfy, large bathroom. Yes noise from passing trains but didn't bother me. Would stay again

Fabulous breakfast
All great!

Fantastic location, central Pangbourne was ideal for me.
It’s very tired, the door handle was very flimsy & sink had a crack in it. The issue was the bedroom was not clean, under the bed was a couple of elastic bands, a hair band, a bag & some kind of plastic bag.
3.4
Location is excellent- breakfast excellent. Staff went out of their way to be helpful.
It was good value for money and staff went out of their way to be obliging.
3.4
A comfortable room in a delightful hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bar was well-stocked with good quality products and the breakfast was enjoyable and excellent value at £10 for the cooked selection of choice

Decent breakfast, attentive staff.
We checked in late (after 10pm) and there was nobody on reception. Room we had was small and in need of refurbishment. Plumbing of basin was a bit slow to start flowing and cold water ran warm. Thin, skimpy pillows.

Location
Trains going by quite noisy.
Shower needed updating.
No breakfast.

Convenient
Temperature in room ,shower very old not really clean had standard room but I would make it economy ,thin horrible pillows needed more but we were busy so forgot to ask ,cups were changed but loo roll not replenished had to go down and ask

I enjoyed the bar and barfood.
The main problem was noise external to the room - this was either that I could hear the television in an adjacent room, people talking, or the trains passing were quite loud and seemed to run pretty much through the night.
3.4
Nice, period room, enlivened by a large well-positioned mirror on the door. Bannistered mini-staircase to bathroom behind bedhead was a clever and attractive use of space to access the bathroom, which again had an excellent mirror. Comfortable bed and excellent bright lighting (fortunately not in period).
Hooks, There was absolutely nowhere to hang anything, apart from a small wardrobe tucked away in an alcove (which was, however, better than nothing).

location and staff
railway noise and bathroom
3.4
The hotel was clean but fairly basic and economy rooms are small but we expected that rooms were nice and warm as well. The hotel does have a railway line at the back which can be noisy but they automatically moved us further away which was appreciated and helped a bit. Plenty of parking which was good. The staff/owners were really friendly, check in was easy. We were not in the hotel much as we were visiting family but we did have a couple of late evening drinks in the bar which was very pleasant.
Walls are paper thin so can hear your neighbours. Don’t think hotel can do much about that though.
There is a restaurant but they were not able to offer breakfast not sure why, however there was a lovely cafe just along the road.

Location was the main reason to stay. Has its own small car park. We were able to get a bar meal. Nice reception/ bar staff. Comfy bed with crisp white sheets.
Price. £95 for twin for one night . No breakfast a little bit too much in my opinion. Bathroom needed a little bit more updating and cleaning. No hot water in the late afternoon.

it was ok
the noise off the trains
3.4
a good location for where we wanted to go and we were only staying for one night.
There were never any staff at the reception desk, causing us to have to wait for a good while until somebody came. As we had already paid for our stay, we just left our room key on the desk and left.
The rooms are very outdated and tired - our room smelt very fausty, the bathroom wasn’t great and the walls are also paper thin.
Its extremely expensive for the minimal service you get and the poor rooms.
3.4
Staff were excellent
There is limited parking at hotel but I was able to park at a nearby public car park.
There was no cooked breakfast option on the morning I stayed, which was a pity as it was -8 that day
3.4
The hotel is very central to Pangbourne. It has some parking on a first come first served basis. My room was clean, warm and comfortable and you could hear the trains as they whooshed by for probably 15 seconds and they didn’t keep me awake at night. They couldn’t offer me breakfast on the first morning I stayed as I was the only guest but on the second day they could offer me breakfast. I wasn’t worried as there was an amazing cafe called O’Briens about a 3 minute walk away that opened at 8am and had several delicious items on their breakfast menu.
3.4
It was a very short distance from the railway, with trains throughput the night.
No breakfast was available.
Wi-Fi was virtually non-existent.
Bathroom was dilapidated and unclean.
Walls were very thin so you could hear everything with the next-door guests.
Parking was difficult.
