great onsen, easy to get to from the bus station. Walking distance to Hell Valley.
Quality of food

Great hot springs and large.
Room is a Little bit dated and very crowd with other tour groups.

Although it was tatami, it was very comfortable! fell asleep in an instant because the mattress was soft! the blankets were very warm too! the outdoor onsen was super nice! just like in animes hahaha. room was super clean, the tatami didn’t make my socks black at all.
the wind made the room abittt cold

the onsen was amazing the outdoor ones in the snow is a must
breakfast is very crowded but food was great

Good place to visit with families.
Have its own shuttle to Hokkaido city.
Room is too small for 4 people to stay. Rather it is a size for 2 people.
When I call to Hotel number, night shift staffs cannot speak English and hung up the phone calls as saing “no English. call tmrw” (So i cannot make a reservation for hotel bus… It’s better to write an email or call during 9 to 6 I think)

The outdoor onsen on B2 Floor was excellent!
The dinner buffet and breakfast buffet could be better especially, the food and sauces replenishment should be improved.

SUPER love the onsen! but i didnt know we have to pay extra onsen tax but it was ok anyway. My first time to book a Japanese style room, a new experience!
4.1
We really like the room, traditional Japanese room feel with good view of the mountains. Futon bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good and the overall service is great. Loved the onsen, tried the day and night, outdoors and indoors pools. Walking distance to a row of eateries across the road. Walkable to Jigokudani and the hotel is just 5mins away to the main bus station.
There is no "Do not disturb" sign, got a slight shock when they came in to make the bed for us. We were in the room and they probably didnt hear us when we replied to them pressing the doorbell. Wish for more privacy.

Good onsen amenity.

The hot spring pools were just incredible - there are so many to choose from! The Japanese style rooms are gorgeous and the futons are super comfortable. The staff were very efficient, helpful and friendly. I also enjoyed how breakfast and dinner was staggered so that the buffet never got too crowded.
The food at the buffet was not the best quality, and more food options would have been nice.

very nice Onsen and the hotel is really at walking distance of Noboribetsu-onsen hot spots
cigarettes and/or sulphur smell in the room

Breakfast and dinner is fabulous. Onsen is super nice.
For first timer to Onsen especially foreigners are a bit lost, as there is nobody there to give a brief.

Exceptional service, very helpful staff, incredible quality of food, room was excelent as well. It is our third stay in Mahoroba, we look forward to many more visits. Onsen is fantastic.

With me, onsen and dinner are the best, and the room is also great.

The onsen (especially the one on B2F) is genuinely super nice.
Have had quite a few ryokan experiences in Japan and this one was just not that nice. Even though it’s a bit of a budget alternative I think you should be able to expect the staff to be a whole lot nicer than they were. The buffet dinner was mediocre at best (although the crab was a positive surprise). Would consider other alternatives if the purpose is to have a nice/romantic stay.

This place is not far from bus station and the shopping street.
Room is great and very convenience.
Breakfast and dinner have various kind of food, they are delicious :)
The outdoor onsen is fantastic, the view is wonderful ^^

The breakfast and dinner buffet were excellent! The steak and crab they served was top quality. Same goes for all of the other food items. The location can't be beaten. It was right across the main street and a short walk to Jigokudani.
The shuttle service from Sapporo TV Tower and back was also very convenient and reasonably-priced. Most of the other hotels did not have this service and this is why we decided to go with Hotel Mahoroba.
I wish the menu cards at the buffet had English translations. We had to use our Google Translate camera option to figure everything out.
There was also a bit of problem with our airconditioner. It was not cold enough so we had to open our windows to let the cold air in. The windows in our room on the 10th floor had a screen so it was fine but our other room on the 9th floor did not have a screen so from time to time, crows would try to enter and we had to shoo them away. I hope they can put screens on all of the windows.
