This is the first hotel that we have cut our stay short Payed £242.56 for 2 nights we left after one.

The location great and the staff that we spoke with were very nice.

We had room 1. The hotel is filthy and for such a lovely old building is furnished so cheap. They need to go to auction for furnishings and reclaimers not B&M and pound stores. Invest in curtains that fit and a carpet shampooer the room carpet is positively nasty. Real table cloths and some napkins at breakfast would be nice. There’s more wrong with this hotel then there is right.

A nice stay and good value for money for the area.

Fab location, lovely staff and great breakfast.

The room was very small (and low ceiling shower) and a bit dated with no window. I hadn’t realised this before I got there but it was in description so my fault for not noticing.

A very enjoyable stay, and we would visit again if in the area. Good value for money.

Breakfast was excellent, with a lovely cooked option too. The room was very well-appointed, with plenty of storage space, excellent shower area, and good selection of tea, coffee and biscuits. Quiet location, but the windows wouldn't open properly (sash) so it was rather stuffy. Good blackout curtains though. Mattress was a little soft for our taste, but the bedding was very warm and pillows comfy. All staff very friendly and helpful.

A convenient stay in a beautiful building.

Great location opposite Wordsworth's house.

The breakfast lets down the elegance of the hotel. The cold items greeted you on the individual tables clingwrapped which felt a bit like an inflight meal.

great location in the town centre , friendly staff , lovely cooked breakfast , though we didn’t eat in the restaurant , the bar area had a lovely vibe to it and the drinks prices reasonable .

An absolute must if visiting Cockermouth

Everything was great, the team, the room and the value for money! Cain was really helpful when we arrived... we will definitely stay again! Location is amazing for going into the town.

Nothing we didn't like. Only scored facilities slightly lower as shower was too short to use but we picked an attic room and there was a good size bath!

The lady who runs the hotel was lovely and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble

Low ceilings in the room we were in. My boyfriend is over 6ft, so this was a bit awkward for him.

Excellent location, friendly staff and good breakfast but I would personally prefer firmer beds ;-)

I appreciated the private car parking, the warm welcome and the excellent breakfast.

The bed could have been firmer - they were quite squishy and not really to my taste. Breakfast could have been served slightly earlier too - especially for those wanting to get off for a hike and to make the most of the day.
