Great location right on 5th avenue (walking street). Amenities everywhere! Hotel was very boutique-y. When it rained you got wet as the foyer has no roof, so it can get quite slippery. I was on the ground floor, my door faced out to reception, so I kept the curtains closed 90% of the time. The bathroom was clean enough. The room came with a small fridge, a hair dryer and as many towels as you wanted. There was a queen and a single bed, they were medium firmness. Pillows were ok. Breakfast at neighbouring Italian restaurant was excellent.
Slippery floors in foyer area when it rained. No pre-warning about $1000 MXN peso deposit required at check in. Communication prior to my arrival was poor. I wanted to pay before I arrived but no one would get back to me. I had to email 3-4 times to get a response.

The staff is great. The hotel's decoration is beautiful. We had a very nice breakfast included at the Italian restaurant next door (+ 30% off for the rest of the menu). The location is perfect in the center.
The room & bathroom could have been a bit more modern.

Overall great value (in off-season)
Very nice front desk members who helped us find less touristy things to do and go eat. This really made our stay.
Breakfast was in a really nice venue next door and it although continental only it was good quality.
Nothing much. There was a bit of noise but nothing major, you’ll easily be able to sleep (and I’m a light sleeper).

Breakfast was great... continental at an Italian restaurant 3 doors down from the hotel.
Very quaint and picturesque hotel inside, not what you would think from the outside.
Location great on 5th Avenue, great price and our 2nd time staying here.
Very loud banging on the lift door at 7am (as it was faulty)... which lasted for about 25 minutes.
I appreciate that the lift needed 'attention' but not at the expense of a hotel full of people trying to sleep !!
Also the bed was uncomfortable.

charming , the open roof allowed the occasional rain showers to come into the main part of the hotel. I felt immersed in mature .Posada Mariposa is located in a good central spot on 5th Ave. I could walk in many directions and find what I was looking for within 8 minutes. the beach Mamita was a short walk to the ocean. La Vaca Gaucho just steps away from Mariposa had the best steak dinner . La Vagabundo was so conviene . I could walk steps across the street to get my morning coffee or breakfast . and they open at 7 AM as I’m an early bird .
I wish they had a roof top swimming pool .

We have booked the royal apartment, which size was amazing. The up on the roof terrace and jacuzzi on it were perfect and vey enjoyable. Room was properly furnished and had its own wifi
It would be good idea to place a little more walling around jacuzzi on the terrace to provide a little more privacy. The deposit of 1000 pesos which is nothing comparing with the price of the room but blocks you money.
It is prohibited to invite anyone for drink or coffee to the room although it looks like prepared for that, you can only meet outside guest in the lobby. I understand prohibiting a party with people from outside, but day visit is different story, but I think that is the way in Playa del Carmen.
Breakfast was exactly the same every day

Staff and location was wonderful. Very clean.
It was hot in the room as the air-conditioner would leak after 20min.
No beach towels or face cloths.

This is an attractive hotel with a beautiful lobby. The breakfast provided was wonderful and more substantial than we anticipated. There was a plate of fruit, yogurt, granola, delicious bread / butter / jam, and juice and coffee. They provided a 30% off coupon if one wants anything else. This coupon worked for us when we ate dinner--this is an excellent Italian restaurant, and the coupon saved us quite a bit on our delicious meal.
This is our own fault for not realizing that the hotel is located on the pedestrian-only Fifth Avenue. We had a hard time finding it at first. We finally parked at random and decided to walk and find it, only to discover that it literally was right around the corner and we had parked quite closely after all. This area is packed with tourist action at night, but surprisingly, I was able to sleep just fine with earplugs. It is NOT a peaceful, quiet hotel, but if being right in the middle of all the excitement is your preference, this is great. Overall, my daughter and I were satisfied with it, but my husband wasn't.

Hotel staff attitude!
To all fellow travellers who don't possess US dollars, ask the hotel what exchange rate they are using BEFORE payment by card. Be warned they use thier own "special" rate for US dollars to Mex Peso which is significantly worse than the bank rate . They also demand payment in cash in US dollars, and if banks are closed as it was in our case, then becomes a real hassle.

The rooms had 2 beds, great if you travel with a friends. The staff was very friendly, and let us leave the bags after checkout in their office.
the rooms smelled very humid, not even the aircon could solve this.
watch out as the price on Booking appears in dollars and NOT in pesos, but when you arrive they try to charge you like 20% more in pesos - unless you can pay dollars in cash. they basically do NOT respect the price in dollars “because they don’t have a USD account”. travelled all over Mexico and never had this issue, so was pretty discontent about that. in the end paid them in Euros cash to avoid this fraudulent practice and all was good. the management should revise this though… it’s not legal and definitely against Booking rules too, I am sure.

Nothing
The staff was horribly rude. I entered the room with my partner and they treated us horribly. I will not recommend anybody to go there.
