Words or even pictures can’t describe the earthy perfection of this home. This was our 3rd week of our Hawaiian vacation. Kauai was our first stop which we are very familiar, next was Kona first time to Big Island. Everything about this home near the volcano national park was perfect. The detail and comfort of the Tree house along with the wonderful town of Volcano and the proximity to the park entrance not to mention the relaxing feeling the tree house gave you to begin and end your day made it very special. The owner’s suggestions in the welcome book were all very useful and well thought out also the house was very clean. We never used the space downstairs but checked it out and it was nice for an extra couple. Great place don’t pass this one up! Mahalo

Well managed native forest. Rare. Love the wild visitors too. The spectacular house was designed and executed to bring the view indoors. What a treat. Two floors allow for space to enjoy tranquility. Will be a stop with each visit. Thank you owners for sharing. Do bring your own salt & pepper, spices, though.

That was a cozy and nicely laid out place, with an artistic touch. It is 10 minutes away from the Volcano park. We absolutely enjoyed staying in this cabin located in the midst of the beautiful fern forest, it was an unforgettable experience for us.

Our stay was great in the treehouse! The house is so beautiful all the wood is very easy on the eyes. The spa tub and the shower were pleasantly unique! We enjoyed every aspect of our stay, from check in to check out, we didn’t have an issue at all. The WiFi was great and there’s some good eating nearby. The only thing we didn’t love was the windows did not have screens, otherwise we would have left the windows open more because the weather was always beautiful at that elevation. Overall amazing stay! I would recommend this to my family if they are ever in the area.

The Maile Treehouse was so awesome. It's about 10 minutes from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park- which is why we stayed there, and you really do feel like you're staying in a treehouse. We stayed in early June, and do wish that there was some sort of ceiling fan, as the air could get a little stagnant, and your only option to get a breeze is to open the windows and deal with the bugs. That being said, it was still amazing and really had soooo much character!

Loved this unique place - clean and spacious. Very reasonable rate too. The tropical rainforest feel and emersion in nature made our trip to the National Park even more memorable. Having the upstairs and downstairs units worked well for our family of 4 with our sons getting their own space together. Mahalo!

Large windows, comfy bed, we really enjoyed this spot after hiking the national park nearby. It’s also close to restaurants, including Lava Rocks (best coconut cake and coconut cheesecake!).

A perfect haven for being immersed in the quiet beauty of a rain forest with welcoming amenities within to ensure a comfortable stay. Loved the large deck with seating to enjoy the birds and gentle rain. Loved the fireplace opening to both the living and bedroom. Loved the large jacuzzi tub for soaking away the travails of a day at the beach or hiking. Loved the well equipped kitchen. Loved all the windows that brought the outside in. And loved the separate quarters downstairs. What a charming place to stay. I'd love to return one day.

What a magical place to stay with the beautiful deck overlooking a lush tropical garden with whimsical creatures to discover. The gentle morning rain created a secluded feel. The home with all its windows and fireplace brings the outside in. Deep jetted tub takes away the aches of a busy day. Kitchen has lots of pots and pans and dishes for guests who like to cook. I will remember this home in my dreams and hope to return one day. Also very responsive and prompt attention from the management company!

This property met and exceeded our expectations! It was so clean, beautiful, unique, and comfortable. It was a wonderful location right next to Volcano National Park, and beautiful trees and plants from every window. It was so quiet and relaxing to stay here. We felt like we were in paradise. The management company was so helpful, friendly and responsive to our needs and questions. I would (and have already) recommended this place to our friends and family. We LOVED this property and hope to return soon!

Are you a nature lover? Do you like to live with trees around you? If yes this house is for you. We absolutely loved it.
We stayed in the upper house since we were just two of us. If you go as a family you can split upstairs and downstairs. The house has gorgeous windows everywhere. You can see the trees and forest even from the toilet and shower.
It rained continuously during the both nights during our stay. We had fun hearing the rain. The mornings were clear on all days fortunately.
The house was spotless and clean. It is fully equipped and well stocked. It is a bit inside but not that much from the main highway. You will be away from the traffic and congestion. For us that was a plus.

Beautiful well decorated and well stocked house only 2 miles from VCNP. Loved our stay, really cool being in the woods for a different change of scenery. Was easy to find despite some other posts saying little harder. Road outside the home needs replacing, but once in the home everything is great! Great communication from the management company, super easy to work with?

My Husband and I rented the treehouse to travel with another couple. Could not have been more perfect. 2 separate sleeping quarters and bathrooms. Plenty of open space with the lanai to relax and enjoy each others company.

The property is gorgeous. Standing inside cooking dinner and you feel as if you are standing in the middle of the jungle. Never minded cooking with the expansive views from the kitchen. Well stocked kitchen. Great cookware. Loved the bedroom and being able to lay in bed and look out at the stars. And the jacuzzi tub was amazing! We definitely want to come back. Just 5 minutes from Volcanoes National Park so perfect for hitting the park.
The downstairs unit is totally separate and accessed from outdoor stairs. Gave my mom and her husband the privacy they like but we also had a common gathering area upstairs for meals and games.

Maile Treehouse was an ideal place for two couples to stay when visiting Big Island for the first time. Having coffee on the lanai in the mornings afforded us wonderful views of birds in the area. The grounds provided a magical and tranquil setting in which to relax. The home itself was beautifully designed and decorated. It was equipped with every convenience one could imagine... including a bidet in the bathroom. We wished we could have stayed longer and would definitely visit again. Highly recommend this place.

Met our needs perfectly for two couples. The property is located close to the National Park which allowed us to visit the site and hike numerous trails. We enjoyed out stay and there are great restaurants (all though limited numbers) which provide a pleasant dining experience. If we went to the area again, would book this location. The two restaurants that met our expectations were Kilauea Lodge and Ohelo Café. Cheers

We ended our Hawaiian vacation here at Maile Treehouse and it was absolutely wonderful.
The house was super clean and tidy.
The area of Volcano itself is pretty bare, make sure to get anything you need from Hilo before coming to the house.

My trip to Volcano was a bucket list item and the treehouse rental made it even more magical.
Our party of four adults had a wonderful stay here. It was so quiet and peaceful. I spent hours on the lanai watching the birds.
The house itself was built with so much love. Its a beautiful place. I cant wait to book a return visit.
Thank you again!

Nice clean house surrounded by jungle, very quiet and peaceful. Upstairs is very unique and has a nice cozy cabin-like vibe. Overall a pleasant 2-day stay!

Exceptionally quiet except for the odd vehicle on a gravel road, which didn't bother us at all. Well appointed kitchen with lovely matching dishes, glasses and silverware. Lots of games and books to use while there. Very close to the national park. Two tables to choose to dine at. Bring a sweater and enjoy the one outside with glorious views of the back garden and wildlife. A place to relax on the lower ground if you like. We found it very snug but were pleased to have the fireplace to take off morning chill. We definitely would love to come back for another woods retreat.

This property is such a gem. We were impressed by most everything, including the location, cleanliness and amenities offered. This house has two outdoor patios, a fully stocked kitchen, bathrobes and a full sized washer and dryer. The owners also included a 3" binder full of house rules and workings, emergency information and ways to spend your time around the entire island. We were so impressed. While we had sun shiney days, we fell asleep to the pitter patter of rain and trees frogs chirping every night. It really was incredible!

What a lovely property. This was the perfect accommodation to spend a couple days in Volcano and exploring Volcanoes National Park. The treehouse was absolutely adorable and so peaceful. You are serenaded with the most beautiful sounds of the forest that engulf this charming home. I loved the shower that made you feel like you were taking a shower outside with the gorgeous volcanic water washing over you and hearing the birds and frogs chirping away. If only every shower could be so refreshing. We were not prepared to not have screens on any of the windows and quickly learned that to keep the property cooler and bug free during our stay in August, we made sure to get back to property before dark to open up the windows and get cooler air in before darkness came and quickly shut all the windows otherwise the bugs and mosquitoes will rule the roost! Not a fan of waking up with bug bites all over. But once we learned this trick we couldn’t have been happier.

The binder with infos on what to do and where to find what was very helpful.

I've never stayed in a more thoughtfully designed property. Every detail added to our comfort and ease in the Treehouse. The proximity to Volcano National Park can’t be beat, and the solitude was just what we were looking for. Two-person tub with jacuzzi, indoor shower that feels like it’s out doors. Huge washer and dryer perfect for all those dirty hiking clothes and beach towels. A full kitchen allowed us to cook for ourselves, which is great since there aren’t a lot of eating out options near by, particularly Mondays and Tuesdays. That being said, do yourself a favor and hit the nearby Volcano Story (small market) first thing in the morning and grab a couple-four spam musubi. They were the best we had the whole trip. If you’re looking for a romantic mountain hideaway on the Big Island, Maile Tree House is what you’re looking for.

Staying here was a wonderful experience. Very convenient being just a few minutes away from Volcano National Park, with lots of privacy (feels like you're in the middle of a rainforest), some good restaurants nearby and everything we needed to cook and eat in as well. Beautiful and comfortable furniture and a unique layout including the separate area downstairs - which the teenagers liked having to themselves. Highly recommend.
10.0 / 10.0
Perfectly clean and appointed. We cooked every night and enjoyed the calming sounds of nature! No problems at all with entry or exit, loved the porch and yard. Convenient small market and restaurant down the road, too. Sleeping situation is 2 upstairs, 2 downstairs with no connecting inside stairwell, which was fine since our kids are older but something to note if you have littles. Great stay overall!

The property was beautiful…and had everything we needed plus more. My boys loved seeing the chickens running free and I loved my beautiful view from the kitchen window. It is a little off the beat and path, but even arriving after dark, we felt safe.

Nice and quiet among the ferns and yellow ginger, truly feels like you are in the jungle (in a good way). We spent a couple nights at the fancy hotel, but this comfort of home is so appreciated. We missed the details about the espresso machine but the coffee maker is great for our Ka’u coffee! We made our own breakfast to fuel our body for the long day of hiking and sun. Love it. Nice to feel like home. It is so close to everything you would need/want: store, restaurants, food truck and the National park. Very convinient.

Our family truly enjoyed this rental, it’s location, and the games provided for family nights. We hiked in the park two days and drove the southern coast one day, each night coming back to a warm comfortable setting to enjoy family game night. We were able to make breakfast each morning before heading out and everyone had a comfortable place to sleep after long days of exploring. One item of note, not a complaint, just a heads up, the local diners are few and the hours should be looked at in advance. The grocery stores close early so planning ahead for meals is important. The restaurants we enjoyed were wonderful and the service was gracious. You’ll just need to be intentional on when you eat out and when you fix something at the treehouse. Wonderful experience!

My sister and I stayed at Maile Treehouse for 2 nights. We had the bed in the lower suite configured as a king. The beds, sofas, and chairs were all very comfortable. The home is lovely... super clean, with lots of windows, and filled with attractive art. Arrival Instructions were easy to follow, and the House Book very thorough. The surrounding jungle was magnificent! And, communicating with the property host was quick and easy. We will stay at Maile Treehouse again.
