Beautiful property wholly built with timber. Well maintained and tastefully themed decorated individual rooms. Loved the sound of nature and amenities in the room was thoughtful and personal.
Communications by the property was timely and clear for a smooth non face to face checkin.

Peaceful, tranquil, amazing find at a wonderful price. Guests have access to the main part of the house with a living and dining room, but can choose to stay in their rooms since each has a private entrance. There was a beautiful backyard tropical garden with a few fruit trees and chickens that can be enjoyed sitting on the back wrap around porch. So quiet during the day! At night, enjoy the eery but lovely sound of coqui frogs and gorgeous views of the starry night sky. Be prepared with warm layers and rain gear as it gets cold in the evenings and there's mist or rain nearly every day--it is a rainforest. Also beware the earthquakes! Volcano apparently has them frequently, and they feel kind of like the wind is shaking the house. However they don't last long, and added to the sense of excitement and mystery of the stay. 5 minute drive to Volcanoes national park, 40 minutes to Walmart, Target, and cheap gas in Hilo. Access other areas in about 2 hour drives to the north east coast or west coast. Can't wait to stay again!

We stayed in the two queen beds Gardenia unit. Great location near Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Lovely landscaping in the backyard, with a Nene goose and a few chickens greeting you in the morning. Comfortable beds. Great breakfast / coffee shop (Eagle Lighthouse Cafe) a 2 minute walk away.
Surprises: Thin shared walls with other connected units. A loose (but friendly) pit bull dog that roams the grounds. No sink in bathroom, only one sink in “kitchen” - making it hard to brush your teeth if you have dishes in the sink. Sunlight roof and light shades do not allow for “blackout” conditions.

Convenient location to Volcanoes National Park and very pleasant setting. Rustic. The owner Robert was a very nice person to interact with. The food provided could be better, as the email said there would be fruit and yogourt, but none were provided. Also, it would be nice to have a hand towel in the bathroom and a tea towel to dry the dishes in the little kitchenette. Overall a good experience.

sue didn’t seem to take our safety that serious stating “people who stay here are really nice” when expedia sent everyones room codes out to everyone else and i asked to get mine changed. it was eventually changed but she was way too nonchalant about the mishap when two young girls are traveling alone

A 1927 (according to a write up in the room) plantation home for a “skilled worker”. Cut up in 4-6 rooms. Beautifully decorated and clean and very quiet except for the coqui frogs which I think sound very melodic. Easy parking and access! It is a great stay for volcano watching!

We book this property to attend a family funeral. The hosts were flexible when we had to adjust our reservation last minute from 3 night to 2 nights. The accommodations were clean and directions for expectations while visiting the property were clear. The bed in the Peacock Suite was comfortable. There was breakfast included with our stay that included fresh local fruits and eggs from the chickens they raise right on the property. One thing to be aware of is they do have a rooster alarm on site. We found it charming, but it’s not for everyone. If we ever have the opportunity to return to Volcano, Hawaii we will definitely stay at Aloha Junction.

We thought the property was absolutely gorgeous. The room was nice. It was close to the park. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because there was a terrible smell in our room. When we first came in it was a strong perfume smell, but that was covering a dead animal smell.

Great location next to the Volcano Park, and a friendly host. Nice to visit with other travelers and get tips about exploring the volcanos.

The location of Aloha Junction is great -- peaceful surroundings and just outside Volcano Park. But it was downhill from there:
The owner Robert was cold, seemingly more so to guests of color. Breakfast was mediocre and the Reddi-whip supplier with the microwaved pancakes had visible mold on the nozzle.
And to top it off, on our first morning there the bottom of our toilet came loose and dirty water leaked all over the floor (Garden Suite). Robert was unapologetic but he did fix it by evening. A very disgusting experience.
We will be avoiding this establishment on future visits to the area.

Pros: rooms were clean, comfortable beds, hot water, common kitchen available for use ( could use some TLC), there was hot choc, coffee available, plenty to eat at breakfast ( yogurt, cereal, boiled eggs, cereal, pancakes and sausage)
Cons: freezing cold! The area is much cooler than other parts of the island so bring warm clothes!! The B&B was freezing as the main door is left open 24hrs.
When we arrived they had no record of our stay. Then we were over charged and had to sort that out. As a result we had to move rooms during the stay. One room we stayed in had an odd set up for the sink. No sink in the bathroom only one at the kitchenette. So you were washing hands, brushing teeth and washing dishes in the same sink
Did not suggest places to eat or things to do.
We stayed for 3 nights. Most only stay 1-2nights in the area and I’d stay that would be appropriate

This was our first time staying in a Bed and Breakfast. What a lovely home it is! There is a huge livingroom with various things to help pass the time. The diningroom is large enough to seat all the guests. We enjoyed meeting other families at breakfast. The breakfast was delicious, with lots of options for various eating preferences. The host, Robert, even made fresh pancakes, toast, and offered sausage. Our room had very comfortable furnishings and a nice patio to sit on. Robert was friendly and accomodating. This was one of our favorite stays on our 12 day trip and we wished we'd stayed longer!

We stayed in the Peacock Room. What a treat! A full wall of windows overlooking the lovely landscaped backyard of this former sugar cane plantation house. A nicely appointed room and very comfortable king-size bed.
The breakfasts were good with farm fresh eggs and local fruit. Pancakes with macadamia nuts were served one day, too, with maple syrup. There were also lots of extra free treats such as microwave popcorn, a limited bar for an evening cocktail, and hard-boiled brown free range eggs. A high five and extra points for this hospitality!
Robert, one of the owners, is a soft-spoken wealth of good information. Pick his brain to make the most of your stay.
Minor issues to be aware of: cheap white bread for toast in the mornings…whole grain seems more appropriate. Only a thin wall separating our room from the one behind it. The chickens and ducks from the on-site chicken house start making very loud noise crowing, clucking and honking starting about 6 a.m.; pack ear plugs! Breakfast is served promptly for all guests in all five rooms at 8 a.m. Sleeping in late was not an option for us.
We had a great stay and enjoyed the property very much. It’s a great base camp to explore the volcano and surrounding area.

The property and Robert were awesome. The two downsides were the chickens and goose wake up calls at 4:30 am and all the restaurants required reservations which we were unaware of.

The location was optimal for us. Aloha Junction BnB is located just a few miles from the entrance to the Hawaiian Volcano National Park and within an easy drive to Akada Falls, Kaumana State Park, Hilo (great Farmers Market on Wednesday) and Richardson Beach. The drives to Black Sand Beach, Green Beach and Waipio were a little long, but it was nice having a comfortable place to call home for the time we were in HI. Robert is a gem of a host, extremely accomodating. Breakfast served was very hearty, included fresh fruit, farm fresh eggs sausage, plus more. A huge plus was being allowed the use of a well equipped kitchen and a BBQ. We stayed in the Peacock Room which had a seperate access and felt a little more private. Our room was equipped with a dormer fridge and a microwave, plus a full view of a garden, chickens, rooster, and a goose greated us every morning.
