The rooms need updating, it's extremely dated especially for the price they are charging

Volcano House, located in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, is a hotel with a restaurant, a walk-in gift shop, historical displays, and a breath-taking view of Kīauea, an active shield volcano, right from the windows. You are also able to walk outside to look at the volcano, as well as exploring other areas of the national park, such as the Sulphur Banks/Steam vents trail, and many others.
Even though we only stayed for a day, the overall conditon of the hotel is relatively clean and well-managed. The staff were polite and kind. The rooms provide accomodations for those who struggle to sleep at night. There was little light pollution, making it easy to stargaze right outside the hotel. We were able to explore most of the overlooks and trails we wanted to see since the hotel is walkable, making these areas easy to access.
Overall, I recommend staying at Volcano House if you are planning to spend a day at the national park, even if it's just for one night.

Since we spent two days at the national volcano park, it was perfect to spend the night right there at the Volcano House. We also liked that it is a historic property sitting at the edge of the crater rim.
