Location, staff, comfortable room
Room above loading bay. Noise all night. No access to spa unless you paid for package. Booking did not make this clear when reservation was made

Such a great hotel! Amazing staff, very comfy bed, blackout curtains which is a bonus, great gym. Restaurant good for breakfast and dinner, tho dinner little pricey, food is very good. Also short walking distance to the train station. Look forward to staying here again !

The spa facilities were incredible, special thanks to Eliza, she was very helpful when my mum asked about the products on offer.
Restaurant food was incredible, the staff were very friendly and helpful with queries. Reception staff are very welcoming and friendly also, nothing is too much hassle for any member of staff, would definitely recommend The Parkgate.

We decided to treat ourselves to a night at the Palrkgate and forget the world for a short time The Hotel is beautifully decorated and the room was .s very well appointed. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in and the pillows were soft but supportive. I particularly loved the in built reading lights in the headboard. The bathroom was well thought out and the shower was splendid. The staff were delightful and service was top notch. There was a very good selection of Breakfast options, and the food on offer was top quality. I particularly loved listening to swing music over breakfast in the elegant dining room! There is a spa on the top floor, and we treated ourselves to an evening session in the thermal suite, which was discounted for hotel guests and was definitely value for money as we watched a stunning sunset over the rooftops of Cardiff from the hydrotherapy pool. The Hotel is ideally situated in the city centre, within a short walk of Cardiff Central station, the Principality Stadium and the Castle on Westgate Street, and after 7pm on a weeknight, the street itself was very quiet.
Everything was mostly top notch, but the room we were in was next to the lifts, and there was a whirring vent or fan outside the window, so there was definitely nous that could d heard throughout the night, for Simone with autism, this was a sensory issue.
Personal choice, but some of the hot breakfast options (bacon, sausages, fried eggs) could have been done with a little longer coming time, so next time would ask for an order from the kitchen.

It was awful the room smelt very bad. We asked reception to move us but they were fully booked.
The room had stains and smelt so bad

The property is beautiful very clean and welcoming, our room was lovely as always comfy bed clean bathroom and all amenities available.
What we didn’t like about the room was the noise that was right outside our window. We are not sure what it was but kept myself awake all night, so what should have been a relaxing nights sleep ended up being a nightmare one.
4.3
Location is great, smooth check in process.
Dinner was great
Breakfast was just ok, nothing special and not worth the money.

Poor breakfast cold didn’t look appealing
Lay out was poor

A lovely place staff very nice location excellent from train station.
It was my partners birthday, room location superb ,I was going to book the champagne 3 course meal for her birthday £160 ,fine i was more than willing to pay until I read the small print 10 % service charge added ,so no if they can't make enough profit on the meal plus the added drinks we would have bought, we would have given a tip anyway,.
That is my only gripe the room ,staff ,breakfast was 1st class .

Top-notch hotel! The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. The rooms are fabulous and high standard. The location is great - close to the stadium and less than a 5 minute walk away from the train station

Location was great it was a very lovely hotel , beautiful inside and very helpful friendly staff . The spa ladies were also very professional and gave a great treatment
The breakfast was quite poor instant coffee was offered first before being told about being able to order coffee from the menu , also food on buffer could have been better quality

Lovely hotel.
Nothing everything was fine
4.3
Beautiful building. Bar and restaurant very atmospheric. Staff are very professional - friendly and helpful.
Had to keep bedroom and bathroom curtains closed as view was unpleasant and we were overlooked. Room 107.
Difficult to sleep for the continuous sound of running water all night. There was a large locked cupboard in our room where I suspect the noise was coming from.
4.3
Exceptional hotel and staff, will definitely be back!
No parking ☹️
4.3
The building, design, separate spaces, excellent bedding (very important!). Excellent customer service (reception), nice rooms, bathrooms and outdoor space. Ticks all the boxes.
Not dog friendly! (Most good London hotels are).
Spa is overpriced.
Bar service could be aligned (one day fantastic, other less so). Diners prioritised. The last thing someone travelling for work wants is to feel isolated/ forgotten. Otherwise fantastic!
4.3
Very friendly professional staff
I was a bit surprised at the overall cost of facilities such as we had to pay £40 each for use of the thermal spa even though we were residents on top of quite a steep room charge . A discount for hotel users would be appropriate in our opinion

The location is perfect. Next to the train station, Cardiff castle and St David’s Centre for shopping. Not to mention the Principality Stadium!
Nothing

great building, stylish rooms

The restaurant was lovely & fabulous food
no car park so had to park at a nearby multi storey for £24 a night. Didn’t like carrying luggage from car park to hotel in bad weather!
4.3
The hotel interiors are beautiful and the rooms has been furnished and decorated to an excellent standard
We booked a deluxe junior suite but although the room was a great room, we felt it was a stretch calling it a deluxe junior suite. Plus the booking.com room description was misleading as it stated 'separate living room' in its description, which there wasn't, neither was there a bath, which for a suite, even a junior suite, you would expect in a 5* rated hotel or at least a larger bathroom with twin sinks perhaps. As it was for these extra features, that we were treating ourselves to a junior suite. However the Reception staff agreed to show us alternative rooms or upgrade us to a superior suite for an additional £30 which we thought was acceptable. That said, the hotel has been beautifully decorated and the rooms are of a great standard. Also I do think that at least the upgraded 'deluxe' rooms should include complimentary use of the spa pool given its a five star rated hotel. We paid an extra £25 each for this, on top of a 'junior suite rate'. All staff were very courteous, polite and accommodating. A beautiful hotel and we would definitely visit again.

very clean, location is perfect. staff were very good.
the pillows were way to soft and the bed was way too hard, dry disturbed sleep throughout the night. work was being done to the main bar floor, the smell from the chemicals being used was very very bad, it went through the whole hotel if I had known there was work going on I would never have stayed there that night especially paying premium prices for a Monday night.
