Impossibly cozy and picturesque, this charming cabin feels like a true getaway. You will find yourself nestled near the banks of the rushing Sandy River. Here among the firs and ferns, you can spend your days hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowshoeing, or relaxing by the fireplace.
There's recreation in every direction here, with Sandy Ridge mountain biking trails immediately north, world-class skiing to the east, and downtown Portland an easy drive west. Yet everything you need for a memorable escape is within this rustic home.
The interior is adorned with natural wood, including a beautiful staircase made from natural logs. There's both a wood-burning fireplace and a propane stove to warm you as you return home from your adventures, as well as a hot shower, comfortable beds, and a private washer/dryer to toast your socks.
The country kitchen has all of the modern conveniences for you to use (including a dishwasher) when you're not dining out at the Brightwood Tavern or the Chicali Cantina.
Outside you'll find a deck that was built around the towering firs, a gas grill, and a picnic table for al fresco meals. Take a short walk down the private wooded path behind the cabin to reach the river’s edge where you can relax in Adirondack chairs and roast s’mores at the fire pit after the sun goes down (as long as no “burn ban” is in effect).
Please note: this cabin is under new ownership since September, 2024. WiFi equipment and plumbing have both been upgraded and are now working very well.

This home was a darling little cabin that gave us the get away we needed. The only problem was, we got there at night, on a cold night, and it was FREEZING. there were two small electric heaters in the walls, but they took hours and hours to heat the place. While there was a fireplace, there was no wood- which is fair, but we got there super late and after dark so we couldn't get wood anywhere. Additionally, there was some sort of other heat source in the cabin- I think it was some sort of gas/propane heater- but it was not functional. After spending over an hour on the phone with Vacasa, there was no solution really. We chocked it up to an adventure, and simply piled the blankets on. Overall we enjoyed the house and our stay, we just wish there would have been a bit more instruction/information about heat sources.

It was a perfect property for three of us, on a girls family trip. We enjoyed our stay and sitting by the river. Well stocked and a clean, cozy cabin.

We loved cozying up next to the fire, reading, playing games, and relaxing by the river. Love the rustic cabin feel!

The cabin is cozy and comfortable. I loved the feel of the cabin--not over the top cutesy, cabin themed. The fireplace is amazing! We slept downstairs and the bed was very comfortable. We like extra weight on our bedding and were glad we brought along our wool blanket. The proximity to the river was amazing, the lush landscape was magical, and the walking path along the river was a bonus! We explored Wildwood nearby--the wetlands trail was so cool--so many birds!

Cozy little cabin that's perfect for a couple or small group looking to hunker down during the wet months. We wanted a nice quiet cabin to spend a weekend reading and relaxing in front of a wood fire, and we got it!
The cabin is rustic but comfortable, though if you're looking for privacy, probably best to look elsewhere. If the weather had been drier we'd have taken advantage of the lovely firepit outside and/or the riverside hangout area that's just a 50-yard walk from the back door.
The cabin itself is cozy, and so is the neighborhood where it's situated. You're pretty closely abutting the neighbors so three different houses look directly into the cabin windows. Not much you can do about it other than close the curtains. Still, we weren't expecting to be isolated, so no harm no foul.
Nice spot, very easy check-in and check-out experience with minimal hassle/tasks.

This little cabin was perfect for two people to stay for a summer getaway. The river is a short walk away and feels secluded and peaceful. The cabin was equipped with everything we needed and was quiet, even with neighbors close by. Close driving distance to Mt. Hood and many great hiking opportunities. We would come again! Highly recommend!

The owners were amazing and kind and the place was equipped, comfortable and a super location close to Welches, wine bars and the most excellent pizza place, as a chef I found the Zig Zag Inn to be my new pizza place outside of Vincenza, Italy. The Hosts have my thanks and gratitude for helping my wife and I have a groovy Birthday weekend. In His Love Joe Roberts

We really enjoyed our time at the Pinery. Easy check in and out, everything went smoothly. It was the cutest little cabin fit with a fire place, modern appliances, fire pit and outdoor deck. Plenty of quaint pubs and restaurants nearby and easy drive to Mt Hood for skiing. We absolutely adored our time in the cabin and plan to return next year!

Perfect spot. Clean and cozy and great access for a cold dip in the river.

Very cute, rustic cabin. Open the door and you are greeted by the smell of wood and campfires. Everything you could need for the kitchen is here, wine glasses to spices to coffee pot and electric kettle. The king sized bed was very comfortable. There is some construction going on right next door for a new cabin but they were respectful of quiet hours and did not start work until after 8 am. Not a deal breaker for us, but mentioning it in case that is important to others.

Cute cabin! Surrounding area was kind of junky due to construction

Two friends and I enjoyed this nice small cabin so much. Every thing is so clean and well functioned. And it is so nice sitting in the red chairs by the bank of the Sandy River late afternoon and early evening, which is only less than 1 minute away, and listening to the sound of the running water, seeing the sun shinning through leaves. So peaceful! I will come over to stay here again.

A beautifully appointed log cabin with some mid-century and Alan Wake (the game) vibes. It was a perfect getaway, some nearby hiking, and the river is right behind you, providing natural white noise and a great place to meditate.

Cozy cabin very cozy!
My husband and I needed a little weekend getaway from the city and this cabin was ideal!
The setting was beautiful, the “backyard” steps from the river with multiple awesome fire pits to choose from.
It was quiet and fairly secluded, although there are neighbors very close on each side. The huge hearth and fireplace were very romantic and the kitchen suited us just perfectly for cooking cabin breakfasts.
The only thing that did not jive with the listing was the claim that wifi works great. That was not our experience. I had to do a little work on my laptop and I could not get it to connect to even send an email. My husband tried at some point to watch Netflix and that would not connect either to stream on a laptop. Wanted to note that for anyone in the future who may need access. It is not reliable, at least on laptops.
Stores and restaurants were close and the decor at the cabin was the cutest I have seen. We loved reading the fun animal facts!
Overall we had a lovely time and would definitely go back!

We’re still talking about the “great cabin trip”
My sisters and I enjoyed a 2 night stay at this lovely cabin. I loved waking up to the sound of the rain, and a cup of coffee by the river. We’d love to come back again sometime!

Pinery on the Sandy review
Clean, cozy after lighting the gas stove and fire. Pictures make this place look so much bigger than it is but still satisfied. Wish there would have been a better stick of firewood in the shed. We bought some down the road though so it all worked out. The walk to the river was nice. It was super wet the weekend we went so be prepared to dodge some mud holes coming into the drive. All in all good place! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Charming, Picture Perfect cabin
Cabin was absolutely perfect for our winter adventure. Very comfortable, clean beds & bedding. Kitchen was well equipped with every essential & variety of pots & pans. If your cooking requires a specific tool (for ex., garlic press) you’ll want to bring with you. But do look around because many of the small gadgets are tucked here & there throughout kitchen area. Same goes for bath washcloths. We only discovered that they had them on last morning when husband realized wall mirror was also a medicine cabinet, in which the washcloths were neatly tucked. Rustic aesthetic applies both architecture of cabin & decor . If you stay on a Tuesday night, you will be required to place trash cans out. Be sure to get clarification on precise location for can & whether or not there is a recycling bin. We put trash out per instructions, but it was not collected . We also never found the recycling bin listed- nor the listed garage. Small, insignificant discrepancies in the context of such a lovely cabin & idyllic setting
This cabin is quirky in the best possible way!

Nice weekend stay
Loved the proximity to the river, the woodsy surroundings, easy walking paths, friendly neighbors, stocked with the essentials. Could use better lighting in the living room and the outside garbage wasn’t emptied before we arrived. Overall I’d recommend this as a nice stay

Charming
This cabin is very cozy and charming. We loved sitting by the fire and all the cuddly blankets. The kitchen was equipped for making meals for our family. We appreciated the hot water pressure for showering after a day of skiing. Loved the sound of the rain on the metal roof at night. Great memories!!

Oregon Stay
It was a nice cabin, great internet service. Cold and wet when we were there so didn't spend as much time outdoors as we would have liked. No tv, but we sat next to the fire to read and watch a couple favorite programs on our laptop.

A Perfect Getaway
This tiny cabin has all of the charm of a 1940's build but with modern amenities too. The kitchen is fully equipped with microwave, dishwasher and even a hot pot for water. There is a washer/dryer and the tankless hot water heater allowed for nice hot showers. The stone fireplace was perfect for an evening of relaxation. There are three double beds to choose from with two in the loft. The Sandy river is just a short walk away on a beautiful fern filled trail. We definitely recommend this cabin.

Ladies weekend
Great cabin nestled in the woods along the Sandy river. Super cozy inside with everything you need to make a wonderful meal. Perfect deck outside for sitting around with friends. Little walk down to the river and there's a beach to relax on. Such a great great away! Close to some great restaurants too.

Sweet cabin in the woods
This is the epitome of a forest cabin. We had a nice stay. It was very warm during our stay this cabin has only small windows that open so not alot of ventilation the french doors at the back of the cabin don't open so you have to trek around the house to get to the deck and the BBQ. Over all the cabin had all the comforts of home. The beds were comfortable. Thank you.

My children and I loved Pinery on the Sandy River. Check-in was a breeze, and the place was immaculately clean. The kitchen had all the amenities we needed to cook, and the surroundings were beautiful. We wished we could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend staying at this property.
