It's a beautiful old building.
Former elks Lodge, very unique and ornate.
Would definitely recommend it to friends or family.
Was a little disappointed that the original suite I books had an issue and we were not able to be in that room. But the staff was apologetic and gave us a bottle of champagne for the inconvenience.

Was advised it was not safe to park on the street. Restaurant in the hotel very nice. Jazz Wed evening and welcome hour from 5 to 6 at the winebar

Absolutely lovely! The room was pristine and the staff was so helpful. Bar and nightclub on premises was tops!

There was no shower curtain in our bathroom and there was some dust and grime buildup in the bathroom. Otherwise, it was a fine stay in a sophisticated and elegantly styled hotel.

Room was very comfortable, quiet and clean. Providence Park, as well as retail shops and restaurants were in walking distance. (Packing a flashlight for walking at night is helpful since many sidewalks are dark.) Hotel service was excellent!! Would stay there again!

Great spot to stay when visiting for a Timbers game! Parking garage around the block and great restaurants all around. Bar downstairs turns into a nightclub (at least the Saturday night when we were there). Great little snack selection at concierge.

Love this hotel! Clean, amazing location, staff was great but my favorite was the overall esthetic. So beautiful and comfortable

My wife and I spent a quick overnight in Portland for a show at the Crystal Ballroom. The Sentinel was very comfortable and a short walk to the venue, along with nearby restaurants and bars.

Check in is at 4pm. I appreciated that staff made an exception to give us access at 1pm. "Just this one time", she said. The valet staff also were very personable and accomodating.

Area is ok - I wanted downtown for the history and to be near the river but like other cities the area suffers from beggars/homeless. But the hotel is great. To pick one random thing I really liked : the black tea! The in-room tea was very good.

Gorgeous historic hotel located downtown. It is extremely close to public transportation, shopping, and downtown nightlife. Staff and service was amazing. We stayed in a queen deluxe room. It was spacious and adorable! We will be back!

Beautiful building, beautiful room. Poor amenities, and dining options end at 9p. Not great for a late check in!

I didn’t have the opportunity to stay here. I got influenza A, tried canceling through Expedia (where I booked) so I could get a refund and book at a later date. The virtual agent told me they called the hotel and the hotel agreed to reimbursing me. Now I’m being told they refuse to reimburse me due to strict booking. I lost at least 320 on that room due to a situation out of my control (it was hard enough having to cancel my whole trip). I will warn others to never book here, and I will definitely take my business elsewhere. Very disappointed in Expedia and the hotel management.

The design is very nice and classic. I got a very clean feel from the rooms. Staff was able to book my room late night with no problems. House coats in the room were a plus. Parking could have been better, but it is the city! Great hotel!

Facade of a luxury hotel, but it's not actually. Front desk people are not very interested in their guests, they don't offer to help you and don't have answers for questions. Only person that helped us was a valet guy. Stayed in one of the nicer rooms during the second leg of our honeymoon. It's an old place that management hasn't actually cared to renovate in any meaningful way. The designer was great which is why I mention it having the "facade" of a luxury hotel. But the rooms are really just just polished.. you know whats. You can tell there's been water damage that was fixed and covered with paint, repairs on the walls and ceilings that were poorly patched, extremely dirty air vents which worries me about the air quality. Wouldn't recommend.

Considers itself highend hotel. The hallways to our room ton 6th floor were very pretty, the sitting room, wine tasting room onsite, and terrace with fireplace in our room was nice. The rest of our room was pretty plain and a little dull. Stepping tub shower needed an upgrade for sure. Bathroom needed upgrades to level of hotel you’re paying for. Valet very expensive at $65 per day so we parked ourselves. But the valet guys were very nice and let us park to unload our bags. We did enjoy our stay. Wine room staff were pretty awesome.

Ok, there are a lot of good things to say about this location. Staff- great! Super helpful and kind. Comfortable- yes! Bed comfy and everything worked fine. My disappointments: this is not a 5 star hotel. Every listing says it is/ no. The condition of this hotel for that rating is lacking. Chairs in room really damaged, doors, paint, elevators, needed some serious TLC etc. I expected more for the rating. Rooms and bathroom are really small, and I reserved an above basic room. Overall I enjoyed my stay- it’s very quiet and comfortable, just lacking in the 5 star area. Would I stay again? Maybe- not a no and not a solid yeah. But again, I’m very satisfied with my comfort level here.

Front desk staff was friendly and the valet attendant provided excellent service with regards to having our car ready when we needed it. Allowed us flexibility of using our car during our stay and not worrying about having our car broken into. Well worth the $62 parking fee. Loved the decor and of the hotel. Like stepping back in time. Also loved the spacious room. We celebrated our 31st year anniversary in which “time piece” is the theme for 31 years. So stepping back in time with our stay at the Sentinel made it a special occasion.

Very friendly staff. Beautiful Property. Nice part of downtown Portland.
The room however. So disgusting.
Stains all over the furniture of either bodily fluids and or food. Giant ugly and concerning rips in the headboard fabric. Stains on the mantle. Missing artwork. So many cobwebs built up on the ceiling fire suppression sprinkler that I wondered if it would even work. At that point I was now concerned for my safety.
The concierge offered to move me to another room but with so many things that were overlooked and the safety concern, I could not bring myself to feel to trust that the hotel was safe.

We arrived late at night and the night club adjacent to the lobby was blasting music so we had to SCREAM to be heard for check-in. The room was spacious but… the bathroom was poorly designed. Not one shelf for toiletries, the shower was extremely small! The water leaked through the shower door and soaked the floor which was a slip and fall hazard! Even my towel was soaked the first day so I relocated them. Also, the headboard for the bed was torn apart and peeling all over our heads. It was very unsightly. Every morning we woke up to a heavy garlic aroma that wafted through our air vents. It was a terrible smell.
I prefer more drawer space to stay organized and not live out of the luggage.

The staff was so attentive to our needs. When we arrived our mini fridge was not cooling so they immediately sent someone to repair for us. We were only in Portland for one night but would have definitely stayed here if we had more time to stay. Room was spacious and quiet. Bed was extremely comfortable. Enjoyed our stay thoroughly.
