Room very draughty due to breeze coming through patio doors, had to keep air con (noisy) on all night to keep warm.
Unfortunately food not great this time - last visit food was much better and worth coming back for.
All staff very professional being friendly and happy to look after everyone and listen to any complaint

Staff were so helpful and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble and they really tried to make things as easy as possible. Being at the older end we didn't enjoy the Halloween disco in the bar but it was possible to find a quieter space and they went out of their way to accommodate us. Drinks were quite expensive but the food was reasonably priced. The breakfast choice and quality was outstanding.

Disappointed with room bed was hard, room was tired. Plug not attached to sink. Tv very dated couldn’t watch much. Expensive for what the room offered

Overall good stay :) we checked in at 3:40pm after a long day at the dinosaur park and unfortunately our room was ready which was really disappointing when you’re travelling with 2 children under 3 years. They did however, give us some drinks vouchers to use in the bar whilst we waited, but sitting around waiting is never easy with little ones! Once we were in the room everything was good and the room was spacious for a family of 4. Breakfast was from 7am which was great for us, and there was a great selection. Only thing we all struggled with was how hot upstairs was! We were on the third floor and the heat was just unbearable as soon as you got on to the top floor. Apart from the late check in and the heating, we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is old and tired. Check in very slow - staff clearly overwhelmed and unhappy. Breakfast was a shambles with nowhere enough food for the number of people present. A shame really because we paid good money for the hotel!

we had a family party, and there was a few things which I was not very happy about, the family booked a table for an evening meal months a ago, and we found out that the hotel messed up the booking so all the family could not sit together!!! i I had brought drinks and was over charged and this happened many times with my family group which is terrible service at the main bar, then my wife phoned up regarding there allergies which the hotel swore blind they could cater for her, they could not cater for her at all, so I had to drive out of Dunston hall to go and get food so again could not eat with the family, the staff expected my wife to eat bland food because they could definitely not cater for people with allergies, the staff came over with a folder that was so big to look at the allergies list with my wife!!! we are in the year 2000 surly they could update this list on to a tablet !!! in the room, the sheets were do old and when you moved I woke up my wife and vice averse! this place could be so much better, the only thing i can say is the golf centre personnel were excellent and they are the only thing keeping this place going, the staff at the golf centre were so helpful. I don't think the family of 15 will be having our gathering again at Dunston hall, in fact we should be re-inbust some money back for our stay and for all the family who had issues throughout the 2 days of our stay and for the one day I stayed, thank god I only stayed 1 day, never agin!!!

Room comfortable but could do with some TLC. Hotel generally was was good & a big plus indoor pool. Staff friendly & mostly attentive, especially on reception.Would stay again. Brilliant Breakfast.

I had paid for breakfast and went downstairs at 7am only to be greeted by 51 guests from a coach.
The staff in the restaurant said that they would need to find me a table in the corner somewhere because they “weren’t aware of 51 guests that had suddenly turned up for breakfast”.
Even checking out in the morning wasn’t great. I stood at the counter where 3 members of staff ignored my presence for a few minutes.
Customer service poor.
I didn’t stay for breakfast as it was chaotic.

Beautiful hotel. Superb food!

We decided not to stay after booking in because we were offered a room without a walk-in shower. We wrongly assumed that a 4 star hotel would have
this basic facility . My wife is unable to use a normal bath . Therefore we did not stay at the hotel.
We have now been charged the full amount and request that you reimburse us .
Your reply is awaited.

Our third time here and could not fault.
Service was friendly, especially in the resturant. They really did pay attention to detail. Relaxed environment.
Swimming pool is good and breskfast fantastic, lots to choose from with plenty of space to sit.

Promised much . Delivered little. Fantastic looking property. Hotel restaurant more like a canteen. Service on the Saturday sadly lacking, over a hours wait for our main course. Food mediocre. The burger was better than the fillet steak!

The stay was somewhat disappointing overall. The staff were not particularly helpful, and it was unprofessional to overhear conversations about their intoxication the previous night. The quality of the food left much to be desired, and the overall ambiance of the establishment felt rather dated. Overall, it did not meet expectations.

Too much to write but there were big problems woth
Lack of hot water
Very long waits in both dinig areas for food to be served.
No accountability when staff make an assurance on service and dont provide it.
No fridge in the rooms.
No air con.
Did not accomodate very elderly guests request to stay near the front of the hotel instead had to walk a long way to get to their rooms.
Had no response from the hotel after making complaints.

Terrible. Would not stay again. Rooms were dirty and dusty. Cobwebs and bugs in the room. Definitely not worth the price paid. Portable fan given for the room has years of accumulated dust. Beautiful property but rooms are completely awful.

The service was very much below standard. The food took a long time to come out and 4 of us ordered at the same time with 2 meals arriving half an hour before the others. No explanation was given until afterwards. Dinner was not any better, it took an hour after ordering for the food to arrive.

Lovely attentive staff & beautiful location. Room was comfy & clean also. Would stay again!

Dunston Hall Hotel is a beautiful hotel, full of character and charm and the staff were welcoming, but our experience was marred by the condition of our room. Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that the room had not been properly cleaned. There was visible dust on and behind the furniture, crumbs on the carpet, and even stained skirting boards from spilt beverages. The bathroom was particularly appalling, with mouldy grout between tiles—a clear indication of neglect.
In addition, the room lacked air conditioning and the fan provided was filthy and covered in dust, making it unusable. It’s unacceptable that we had to request the room be cleaned and the fan replaced, tasks that should have been handled long before our arrival. This level of carelessness is not what we expected from a hotel of Dunston Hall's caliber. The manager was apologetic and attended to our request, however our stay was impacted by these issues. The health centre facilities were nice we enjoyed the facilities.

We were a little disappointed, the hotel was amazing and the facilities great , but our stay was not an enjoyable one.
Firstly our room the air con did not work, the receptionist did get us some fans which helped a little , secondly on the morning of Saturday we had no water and with it being so hot was not ideal when off to a football tournament.

Definitely not recommended for a business stay. Only one plug socket in the room, clean but very tired and out dated room

Went with my friend on a shopping trip. This hotel was a Good find. We had a deluxe family room which had two queen beds and ir conditioning which was ideal. The breakfast was good and evening meals tasty.

We stayed here for just one night, a short getaway with a spa.
The buildings are impressive, however once you walk in it is clear to see all a bit worn and tired.
A few smaller touches would have made the stay better such as water in the rooms.
We went for breakfast quite late, and was very disappointed, none of the tables had been cleared, no glasses, no coffee, no fruit, no plates......
We travel frequently, my partner travels weekly, will not be returning to this hotel and very unlikely to try any of the others in this hotel group.

Unfortunately message didn't get through to hotel that i am allergic to feathers, but housekeeping amended quickly. Staff very friendly but room decor is very tired (and bland). All the wood furniture has scuffs and scratches, the paint is peeling on the bathroom woodwork and the bathroom grouting on the tiles needs replacing. It's a similar story on the spa facilities - the changing rooms are very basic and some of the poolside tiling has seen better days.

Always stay here when visiting my cousin, lovely hotel and location

There were certain aspects of the stay that were really good - the grounds, the architecture, the history of the hotel, the bar, restaurant & choice of food in the menus. However, there are parts that need to be be improved - previous guests hair in bathrooms, cobwebs in rooms, around windows & on walls in bedrooms, carpets in rooms that had stones on (potentially from previous guest), beds & pillows weren’t optically comfy - no options for polyester pillows, feather only which is not great when you are allergic to feather so I has to take any histamines tablets before bed. Also, breakfast overall could have been better - appeared to be disorganised & very few staff around the food area to ask for assistance.

The site was lovely and looked amazing and the staff and food were brilliant however, our room shower did not stay one temperature and the lack of air con in their standard rooms made the stay uncomfortable and on top of that the celling fan was loose and made a lot of noise but because we had a celling fan we were refused a standing fan so had to.use the noisy fan all night which kept waking us up.

Overriding sense of grey - walls and carpets - no helped by B&W photos.
Room was "tired" and needed decorating and some basic maintenance.

Staff and the setting were absolutely fantastic. The interiors though could do with an upgrade. The room we were in was very dated and needs new furniture and a better tv. Considering the cost the decor, furniture and in room electronics need to be significantly improved.

The staff was super friendly, food was great and the two bars were nice.

Very nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay , but the bar staff were useless and had no idea of what they were doing . The food in the main bar was extremely poor and that’s an understatement.

Short break (3 nights) away. Hotel is easy to find and a very imposing/impressive looking building. When we arrived there was a school prom on so there was traffic queued on the drive but there is plenty of parking. Excellent check in, short time later when I enquired about a fan as the room was hot the receptionist gave me the fan behind the desk! Room I felt was dark especially when there is a mirror by the TV but no downwards illumination in that area. Breakfast excellent, staff helpful, fabulous terrace area behind the main bar, snooker table in Bunkers bar...but only 1 (terrible) cue!. Only issue we had was on the (final) Saturday night 10.00pm some kids running along the corridors banging doors. After the 3rd time I went looking for them and they legged it into the gents toilet opposite the main bar. Although a number were hiding in the cubicles they had a peace of my mind and lots of expletives!! Informed Kate the duty manager and advised her to check the CCTV. No problem Thursday and Friday, must be different clientele on a Saturday. Overall a great stay, would definitely stay again.

I loved it didn’t want to go home 10/10
More of A Question but I Didn’t know where to walk around the facility’s as in outside and where not to go due to golf course?
And Areas for Improvement A Fridge or Cooler in the hotel room but this is a minor change for drinks or food maybe as top floor gets very very warm in the heat 25*C
