About this house rental
Sunny 4 bedroom 2 bath home sleeps 7 in beds. Located on 4 lush acres of rolling fields, mature trees and streams, this single level custom built ranch house is conveniently located near everything, yet is private with spacious lawns and not a neighbor in sight ! Only 3 miles from historic Woodstock Village, which offers small town fine shopping and a variety of quality restaurants as well as fun for the kids at Billings Farm and golf at the famous Woodstock Country Club. Woodstock offers many year-round activities, including skiing at Saskadena (formerly known as Suicide 6) in Pomfret (6 miles away), Killington (20 miles away), Pico (22 miles away), Okemo (24 miles away) swimming, fishing and kayaking at Silver Lake in Barnard (10 miles away), hiking at Mount Tom & Mount Peg (in Woodstock Village), horseback riding at the Green Mountain Horse stables in South Woodstock, or just relaxing and experiencing all the natural beauty the area has to offer. We are located 10 miles from Quechee and 20 miles from Dartmouth College/Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical School and Hospital/Hanover, NH. We are also 7 miles north of the famous Jenne Farm in Reading, the destination point for many photographers and lovers of fall foliage. Good place to stay if you're coming into the area for the Covered Bridges Half marathon in June or the 100 mile run in July (which goes right past our house), as well as the 4th of July (Woodstock does great fireworks) and the balloon festival in early June. Also convenient for Dartmouth College graduations. Winter vacation weeks are filled with fun family activities in town. Rates may be higher for holiday weekends/weeks and special event weekends. No long term rentals accepted (2 week maximum).
The house is a single-story ranch, with a small one car garage under, located on a town road and easily accessed in all types of weather. AC provided by mini-splits in all bedrooms and living room. There is a large and sunny open living/dining room area, with two large comfortable couches, two recliner chairs and a dining room table that seats 6-8. This room is bordered all around by large windows and a skylight, and opens up onto a three-season screened porch that overlooks the rear yard, flower gardens, woods, gravel patio and brick fireplace. There are ceiling fans in the living room master bedroom, kitchen & porch, and there is a nice cross-breeze from the windows and open screen doors. For music lovers, there is even an older built-in piano !! There is also a 52” HD Vizio Smart TV plus Roku, and sound bar, as well as a DVD player (and some DVDs) a radio and an IPOD docking station. High speed internet cable with upload and download speeds of 300mg, and cell phone reception for certain carriers (ie: Verizon is okay but not AT&T) and a land line for local calls. There is a gas fireplace, to stay warm and cozy on cold winter days ! We also have an outdoor fireplace with plenty of wood, and chairs and it is delightful to sit outside next to a warm fire and gaze at the star-filled night sky, with no lights anywhere in sight to hide your view !
The kitchen is older but has been recently painted and is in very good condition and has been upgraded with a new refrigerator, microwave, electric stove and dishwasher, and includes Corian counters and a small built-in breakfast nook which can seat 4-5 people. The breakfast nook looks out from the front of the house, and faces east, so is quite pleasant in the mornings when the sun is pouring in. There is a new full size front load washer and dryer located just outside the kitchen. Coffee maker is drip, using round filters.
There are four bedrooms, two have queen beds (master bedroom and front corner bedroom), a third bedroom has a double bed and the forth bedroom has a twin bed. Linens, pillows and comforters are all in good condition, and there are mattress toppers for all beds. There is room in the front corner bedroom to fit a foldaway cot, for an additional short term guest (2 cots located in closets). We also have a Graco Pack-and-Play portable crib which can sleep an infant or small toddler and a booster seat which can be attached to a dining room chair. There are two full bathrooms, one located off the master bedroom and the other off the hallway at the other end of the house where the other three bedrooms are located. Both baths are bright, clean, and have a tub and shower unit in addition to new fixtures. Bath towels, wash cloths and beach towels are all in good condition. The master bedroom is located at one end of the house and is quite private from the rest of the house, and hallway doors can be closed in such a way as to enhance the feeling of peace and quiet in this apartment-like part of the house. All hardwood floors throughout the house have been recently sanded and refinished, giving the house a bright and clean look. Exterior of the house has also been recently painted.
There is a shed in the yard– though we do not clean it as it is not meant for anything more than storage…. And we also have a generator, in the event that power goes out for any reason.
The land is gorgeous – the portion of the lot that the house is located on is level and raised from the street so there are views of the hills and valley across the street, and we have Adirondack chairs and chaise lounges for you to relax in, during the spring, summer and fall months. There is also a patio dining table and six chairs, as well as an umbrella available outside during the summer and fall. Our land also includes a field next door to the house, which goes up the hill and is a fun place to play and sled and snowshoe in the wintertime. (We provide 6-8 small plastic sleds for your use). The land also continues across the street, where there is another field to explore, and which abuts a marshy area.
Our house is simple, comfortable and an ideal rental for one, two or three couples or extended families, who love nature but enjoy the advantages of being very close to both cultural and all types of outdoor recreational activities. Also ideal for larger family get-togethers or celebrations, due to the configuration of the land and the private but convenient location.

Great place to stay, the sunroom is beautiful! Close to GMHA horse show grounds. Quiet and secluded as well, easy to sleep.

Came to VT to run the 100 mile race and stayed at this amazing house. It was ideal for family because it was right on the course. They could sit in the front lawn and watch the runners and horses go by. The house had everything required to rest and recover. Would stay here again.

Perfect house for a relaxing trip. The furnishings were incredibly comfortable and the ability to close off "wings" of the house made in easy to move about without waking people up.
Liz was great to work with and the information she provided about the house and the area made things very easy.
I would recommend this beautiful home to anyone that wants to go to the Woodstock area!

The property is located very close to downtown Woodstock but far out enough that you can enjoy the beautiful nature and views Vermont has to offer. The house is equipped with everything you need. The living area is very cozy and has plenty of seating. The bedrooms are a nice size with comfy beds. The check-in/out process was smooth with great communication from the hosts. Overall, the house is really charming and would definitely recommend!

Adorable vacation property. We didn't get to spend much time there aside from making dinner, showering and sleeping. We attended a carriage show at the GMHA show grounds and it was wonderful to come back to this peaceful country home.

This was a perfect location for a reunion of college girlfriends. The house was exactly the right space for us to gather and visit together after a number of years apart due to the pandemic. Cozy dining and living areas, the bedrooms were lovely, beds were comfortable, there was ample parking space, and we were made to feel welcome in so many ways.
The well-stocked and appointed kitchen meant we could enjoy a casual first evening together noshing on snacks and apps while people made their way there, and linger over coffee and breakfast in the morning while people got up and got ready for the day. The town of Woodstock was an easy drive from the house. The host was extremely responsive and very helpful in leaving detailed information about the house and the area. I can’t recommend this house enough. Five stars all around!

Location is perfect, minutes away from Woodstock center and the gorgeous surrounding area with lots to do. Liz is a great host! I highly recommend and will be back!

This house is perfect for a family get together. The layout of the house worked well. The Master Bedroom is at one end of the house and the three other bedrooms were at the other end. The decor is perfect for relaxing after skiing. The location is great, near Killington and the town of Woodstock. Plenty of options for shopping, dining or just strolling around.

Great house, great location just a few miles from downtown Woodstock. Very comfortable.

We arrived towards the end of a winter storm and present for another. When the surrounding neighborhood lost power the home generator came on and the owner was quick to contact us. We spent so much time outdoors sledding with the kids on the large field on the property. It was nice to get away in this Vermont country setting and reconnect with the family. Would not hesitate to stay again if we are ever in the area.

A stunning home! We had a great time. There was plenty of space for all seven of us, and we all had a great time discovering all the fun nooks, crannies, and built in features. See if you can find the piano!
The host was communicative, and followed up regularly and quickly. Couldn't recommend this place enough.

Great location, comfortable beds, fully stocked kitchen and lots of room. The set up of this house is ideal for many situations. Master suite is near kitchen and separate bedrooms with bath are at the other end of house. We hope to come back and appreciate the 3 season porch and backyard patio area.

We stayed here with a group of 5 people, everyone had plenty of space, the place was clean and had everything we needed. Great communication with the owners and the location was convenient enough to get to/from town.

We loved the property...it was charming, comfortable, in a beautiful country setting and all that we could have asked for. Our host was responsive to questions and concerns and we hope to return again!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and only wish we could have stayed longer. The home was exactly as stated and the yard was beautiful and perfect for our dogs. We loved that it was very secluded but still very close to Woodstock and the market. The owners were very responsive and checked in with us to make sure we arrived safely (we got in late) and had everything we needed.
4.9
Very nice owners to rent from. Large comfortable house. No coffee or tea provided so bring your own from town if arriving late. Liz was very nice to communicate with.
4.9
Perfect location close to all the area attractions, yet tucked away, private, and with a gorgeous view. The house was very comfortable and well appointed. We had everything we needed. The property itself was situated across from a beautiful view of the hills and the yard was perfect for kids to play in. The host were very quick to respond to our questions.
Thank you for a lovely stay!
4.9
We loved the layout, the comfortable furnishings, and how well-stocked the home is. The host's communication was perfect, as was the stay. We would definitely stay there again and the house lacked for nothing. So many cozy nooks and couches invited family catch-up conversations late into the nights. One item to note is that the wedding we attended hired shuttle buses to the various places our family stayed but the shuttle was unable to reach our house due to the covered bridge it could not cross. This is not a criticism of the host or the house (the bus company should have realized and communicated this to us) and we still made it to the wedding on time! Great stay and great host.
4.9
Quaint older but nicely maintained home just a few miles from the center of Woodstock in a quiet and private setting. Convenient access to excellent grocery stores, hiking and shopping. Our host highly accessible and responded promptly to our questions and provided clear and detailed instructions about the home and useful information about area attractions. Warm and cozy with just enough space.
4.9
Had a great stay at Liz’s place in Woodstock. We traveled to Woodstock for a wedding and needed a place with enough space for our family (3 adults and 2 kids). This home was clean, in a beautiful neighborhood, and only a 10 min drive to the downtown area. If we ever come back to Woodstock would definitely stay here again. The only thing to keep in mind is the beds are firm in the bedrooms so if you’re not use to that something to be mindful of.
4.9
The house was great… had everything we needed and more. Large yard, interior was clean and spacious, kitchen had all the amenities. Highly recommend.
4.9
Can't say enough good things about this property! Kitchen is well equipped. Beds are comfy. Came for the GMHA carriage driving event. So quiet and peaceful after a busy day at the show grounds.
4.9
This property was perfect for my sisters and I and our spouses. We were in the area for a family reunion. The house was everything as it is described. We loved every part of it, inside and out. My favorite was the screened porch, great for morning coffee and evening cocktail. A nice quiet, comfortable location not too far from town.
The host responded quickly when I messaged her, and was very helpful.
We will definitely return.

Great Location that perfectly suited us!
Our multi-generation family really enjoyed staying at this property for a nearby family wedding. Perfectly clean, bright and sunny, with a completely outfitted kitchen, great water pressure in the shower, and comfortable beds!

Idyllic
I would describe this home as cottagy-farmhouse. Detailed woodwork creates finished touches in the the larger living area that indicate architectural refinement. The charm of this home is that it is reminiscent of a step back in time to a simpler lifestyle, except that it has all the modern conveniences. (The house has a whole house generator in case of power outages, and mini splits that keep it air conditioned in warm weather and warm in cooler weather.)
It reminds me of visiting our grandparents' farm in rural upstate NY. It is idyllic and peaceful. It is well maintained and comfortably furnished. The kitchen and one of the bathrooms are not updated, but fully functioning. All the rooms have ample room for storage and the kitchen easily accommodated at least 3 adult women as we prepared our meals and cleaned up.
The drive to the home took us over a covered bridge and alongside the Ottauquechee River then through deciduous woods, literally, over the river and through the woods!
The property is magnificent with blooming gardens, meadows, and ample choices for outdoor seating. A dense wooded perimeter provided complete privacy. It is very dark and very quiet at night. You won't hear sirens or dogs barking, even though there are neighbors. A bullfrog serenaded me to sleep, and birds woke us up at dawn. (Fortunately we were all able to go back to sleep!)
4 Senior women enjoyed a three day stay at this home and we all wished we could have stayed longer. We are upper middle class with similar professional backgrounds. We could have stayed in more elegant accommodations, but we chose this home for its charm; surroundings; proximity to Woodstock and Quechee; but most importantly the way it lent itself to what we needed: A place to gather, catch up, discuss current events; and just enjoy time together.
The homeowner, Liz is professional, accommodating, efficient and very easy to reach. We had no problems finding the home and accessing it.
If you plan to visit Woodstock, Quechee, one of the ski mountains nearby, or hike one of many trials, this home is a wonderful alternative to cookie cutter hotels. It will give you a sense of what it is like to live off the beaten path in rural Vermont amidst abundant natural beauty.
