The room was lovely
Lighting around the makeup table outside of the bathroom was unsatisfactory to apply makeup

beautiful boutique hotel and wonderful across the board. food was great. location was great. staff was friendly. and everything is just nice to look at. the details really matter, and they were exceptionally detailed!
Plus it's nice to be able to pick up some shinola goods or madcap coffee in the mornings. and mister dips burgers and shakes are killer.

Clean room, Big shower, comfy bed
No breakfast, small room and over priced

Very cool hotel and location
The whole place smelled like marijuana.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful and conveniently located near attractions. Every staff member we encountered made us feel valued and comfortable. My daughter and I stayed following a concert downtown and it was so worth not having to fight traffic afterwards. San Morello, the hotel’s restaurant was outstanding
I liked everything, except the price.

The hotel was super cozy and cute and we were able to eat either at the hotel or right around it which was very convenient! It was a nice little getaway for us!
Room service prices were crazy but next time we will just bring our own stuff from home!

From the friendly staff, the incredible location, down to the gorgeous decor, this is my go to hotel for any event in downtown Detroit. You cannot beat the price for your quality of stay! Love it! I will definitely be back.

nice rooms , very trendy and very clean , the staff was excellent
We like a coffee in the morning while we are getting ready . A Nespresso coffee maker in the room would be a nice touch

we love the Shinola and stay here every time we travel to Detroit which is about 1-2x a year. the ambiance, decor, food and accommodations are superb!
I wish there was a slight option to increase lighting by the full length mirror. The dim lighting makes it hard to get ready anywhere other than the bathroom where there isn’t a full length mirror.

the lounge/living room-area is awesome.
Loved the scent of beauty products
no coffee pots.
block for wedding guests would have been nice.

Very central location, easy to access most of what we wanted to do on foot. Staff was always very helpful and welcoming.
We requested a crib that was already in the room when we arrived.
It was an amazing stay, above expectation.
During the night there was a bit of noise in the corridor from people arriving late. Nevertheless, we were in a corner room, so noise was minimal.

One of the best hotels I've stayed at, incredible design throughout, wonderful touches on every corner and a buzzing place in the middle of the city. The only thing is better way finding is needed on the floors. Very easy to get lost.
It was unclear which direction to walk for the lift and your room. Way finding was not consistently placed around the corridors which led to confusion.

Comfy bed, comforter and pillows, terry cloth bathrobe and standard hotel slippers provided and small bottle of Shinola water on each side of the bed. Free Shinola matches at reception. The expensive Le Labo toiletries are pretty nice. The shower has a very tall shower head - NBA players should feel welcome. There is a handheld shower head for the rest of us. Separate toilet room. Tall ceilings. Wood floors. The lobby and lounge are above average in space, seating and art, all very chic with velvet couches and soft leather chairs and real plants. Staff at front desk are very efficient but robotic and they talk very fast. Valet and concierge are at the front door. Well stocked fridge with liquor, juice, water, beer and a separate premium drinks selection and then drawers with lots of snacks - not free $$$$. Many high end and fast food restaurants are in and steps from the hotel. Gucci store up the street, H&M and LuLu Lemon and Nike up a short block.
Yogurt, fruit platter, and tea was $50+ Check out is at noon - the manager knocked on my door at 10 and woke me up to ask if I was checking out, and then again at noon to ask when I was leaving - with my toothbrush in my mouth I told her to give me 5 minutes. That is a bit aggressive in my opinion and waking me up took away from my experience. The bathrobe is nice, but the fabric (terry cloth) looked and felt a bit used - note, navy blue tends to look washed out and the terry cloth needs some fabric softner. The Study Queen room has no desk to work on so I had to work on the bed while sitting on the floor, knowing this, I can never send any work guests here. You would have to upgrade to get a desk of some sort. The dark hallways with poor lighting is sexy but not practical, that seems to be a common feature with boutique hotels - I could not find the elevator. In a fire that would not be helpful.

Beautiful hotel. Excellent location to entertainment venues.
Toilet closet very small. Had to straddle the toilet to close the door.
