The place was absolutely beautiful! So much character. It was less than a 10 minute walk to ford field which was super convenient. The staff was so friendly and kind. We want to come back to Detroit just to stay here again!

Beautiful atmosphere

It’s a beautiful inn right in the heart of Downtown, close to The Fox, The Fillmore, Tiger Stadium, etc.
It was very warm in our room on the third floor with no temperature control.

Mid-December, snow flurries, low 20s outside and the heat in room 23 wasn't working!!! Couple that with a thin blanket and bedsheet, and I slept on that firm mattress uncomfortable, cold, wrapped like a mummy. The people who work there are polite, but saying "I hope you come and stay with us again" to myself and other guests who also complained about the temperature of their rooms is not good enough. No need to share any other positives, because who wants to stay in cold Detroit at a hotel with in room heating problems?

great mix of historical and modern amenities
street noise from windows and musty smell of drapes

It’s a lovely property with tons of cool details everywhere.
our room was pretty expensive but our suite wasn’t made up, dirty from the last guests. our new ( less expensive) room was freezing as the windows are from 1850 ish and not touched in the renovation of the building. I could fit my finger between the upper and lower sash where the 20 degree winter weather was coming in. The couch and carpet were soiled, the washroom was dirty and dusty, hair and ? in the shower.
The woman at the desk brought us a portable heater that made all kinds of noise instead of a warm room that I had asked for. I was told I would be getting a refund because our room a lesser room, to date no attempt has been made to date to refund any money.

location and off street parking.
when we checked in to our room, it was freezing. there was no thermostat. the front desk said they controlled all the heat and would turn ours on. 4 hours later it was no warmer and we saw all the vents up in a 12’ ceiling were closed. the new desk attendant came up, apologized profusely and said she would move us to a different room but they were full. she did bring up 2 more bedspreads and a quilt which helped considerably. the room, however, did not warm up. we went to bed with stocking caps and wool socks.
the next morning, it was still freezing; so much so we could not take showers.
we went downstairs stairs and told the attendant we were checking out, the room never warmed up, and requested a refund. she said she would talk with her manager and get back to us on the refund but we have not heard back.
it was 24 degrees outside that morning. I do not believe the room got out of the 50’s.

Location was great
The bedroom was a little cool, but sleeping was good.

The vibe is great. The age of the mansion is what drew us in. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
There was a lot of stuff sitting around in the sitting area...a ladder, extra chairs stacked.
The shower in our room made an awful high pitched noise. The bed was rather hard and lumpy. I'm very sensitive to perfume/ scents and the comforter smelled very strongly like fabric softener.

Very close to downtown!!!!
I checked out the hotel on October 24,2022 and still waiting for the $250 dollars to be released!!!!
4.5
close to downtown activities, beautiful historic home
paying for parking ($25/night) - price gouging, so the inn should cover that part.

Perfect location in the center of the city. Old historic building, looks like a museum inside.
the bathroom was a little bit cold

The hotel was beautiful. We booked the hotel due to the decor and age and were pleased with how elegant everything looked. It is in an extremely convenient location for walking downtown. The room was also very clean.
There was no air conditioning which we did not see on the booking. The room was extremely hot and muggy as it was close to 90 degrees outside. We attempted to open a window for a breeze but were met with a sign saying ‘do not open.’ There was also a constant loud sound like water running or a fan on coming from the bathroom. We had to keep the door shut to try to muffle the sound some. I also wish the hotel would have put in some soundproofing around the doors. We could hear every sound from other rooms, halls and stairs.

lovely decor
The person in charge didn’t answer the bell when I pressed it 10-15 times over a span of 15 mins or so. I mentioned it and she effectively told me I was lying…very odd as I could hear the bell ringing externally. Perhaps something was broken internally but it was a strange approach to tell me I was wrong that I had pressed it.
Also surprised that they didn’t make the room up over the 2 nights. I expected the bed would be made at least.
Aircon was also very loud, but I had earplugs

Location, unique place, quietness, cleanliness, no problem with parking.
Torn bath robes, only one hook in the bathroom, constant cold a/c.

wood floor makes a noise when I walk around.

Beautiful interior, able to use the entire 1st floor, breakfast included fresh fruit items.
No elevator. Had to take luggage up the stairs.

Breakfast was very good as well as location but far too late in the morning. I missed breakfast my last day because I needed to leave at 8 to get a flight, but you don't start breakfast until 9.
My room was freezing. There are no controls in the room to adjust. Although the room is very pretty, the bed was uncomfortable and the pillows the same. Very dusty in certain areas.

Beautiful Inn and very well located. We felt completely safe for the concert we went to and loved how quick of a walk it was to the show. Staff was very kind and helpful.
Some of the art is not fitting with the style of the Inn. kinda odd choices.
