================================
The rental price is for the 1,350 sqft 2-bdrm/1bath upper floor of our daylight-ranch home, so its affordable for 1 or 2 couples or a family - with far more space & amenities than a hotel room/kitchenette suite.. You can ask about a 4 bdrm option.
Check out all the 5-STAR REVIEWS! This is a long-standing 'VRBO Premier-Partner' home.
Our 'Mt-AdamsView' home is located inside Hood River town close to Jackson Park, the Swim/Tennis Center, and grocery store. It has had a fresh, beautiful open-concept remodel for a modern mountain cabin feel.
Lots of people choose our place for their 2nd stay after staying downtown/immediately-adjacent and experiencing the I-84 freeway/freight-trains/party-noise. Our place just 4 minutes drive from downtown is so much more peaceful - with both ample off-street parking and a garage for your gear - that's quite scarce downtown.
From the living room, master bedroom and balcony there is a 140 degree view of the other side of the Columbia River Gorge, with a full view of glacier-capped Mt. Adams, plus a rare garage for storing your outdoor gear... you get panoramic views, off-street parking, central A/C and secure storage that you just don’t get at most other 2 bdrm places in town.
While you’re sipping your morning coffee on the balcony, you can also see the river in front of the Event-Site to check out wind and wave conditions before you go sailing or kite-boarding, or contemplate a day of amazing hiking, mt-biking or wine-touring.
The house is sited on the edge of a small bluff so the neighboring houses and trees are below your gorge view sight lines - which also provides great privacy.
From the entry, the open concept kitchen with breakfast bar for 4 chairs is immediately to the right, with dining area adjoining. All stainless steel appliances: gas range with convection-oven, microwave, butcher-block countertops, and breakfast bar, black-granite sink, large bottom-freezer refrigerator, dishwasher, toaster, coffee-maker, etc. Lots of counter space. Stocked with basic condiments, spices, ample pots & pans, dishes, glasses, etc. From the dining table, there is even a partial view of the steep, rugged north face of Mt. Hood, (which completes the rare 'Hood River two-mountain view').
Further past the entry, to your right is the large gorge-facing, open concept living room with a comfortable, large, sectional sofa - with a great view of the Gorge and glacier-clad Mt. Adams, with Youtube-TV and Roku for other TV sources. A sliding glass door opens onto the 32 x 8 ft. cedar balcony with a solid railing for privacy and child-safety. The balcony has a dining table for 6, plus comfy lounge chairs/ottoman, and a Weber gas grill. The large north-facing balcony has welcome shade on hot summer days and is sheltered from much of the world-renowned Gorge summer winds.
From the entry, turn left to the remodeled bathroom with double-sinks and large shower. The bedrooms are carpeted while the rest of the house has highland oak flooring. Also down the hall to the left of the entry is the large master bedroom (12 x 16 ft) which has the same special view of the gorge/Mt. Adams - what an inspiring sight to wake up to! The second bedroom is nearly as large (without gorge view). Both bedrooms have ultra-comfortable foam-mattress/pillow-top King beds with quality linens, large double-closets, plus a chest of drawers. The optional 3rd bed is a comfortable, queen-size AeroBed with built-in pump that inflates in 3 minutes. It’s more comfortable than most sleeper-sofas.
The 2-car garage has one bay available to you for storing your vehicle and/or drying/storing your outdoor gear. The trees in the front yard offer some shade for driveway parking. Fits 2 cars in your half of the semi-circle driveway + 1 in garage, plus always ample on-street parking. Quite often you can use the whole driveway.
The home has a premium, central gas-heat/heat-pump + air conditioner system with electrostatic-filter + HEPA + a powerful UV-light air disinfectant unit. It has a separate thermostat and ducting for your unit (vs the lower unit we use sometimes). Plus modern electrical and plumbing. Solar panels on the roof provide renewable energy. We have an external-door camera (only!) to let us know when packages arrive, or to check on weather when we're gone, and for general security - though Hood River is a very safe town. For your privacy, there are no cameras anywhere inside or on the balcony.
Regards the daylight basement unit, we're often traveling or visiting different grandkids families. Even if we're there, we have good acoustic-insulation between levels, and independent thermostats/ducting so no concern about noise either direction, and we have a separate entrance and driveway. The stairway between levels is secured by a dead-bolted solid-core door with a 6" thick acoustic-insulated panel over it.
Just a 5 minute walk is the large aquatic center pools, tennis courts, softball field, school soccer field, and Jackson Park’s amphitheater with free summer weekend entertainment. The grocery store closest to the house and to downtown is a 3-minute drive down the hill. The start of downtown is about a dozen blocks to the east - a pleasant walk or a 4-minute drive or a quick bike, to Hood River’s great pubs, shopping, galleries, fine cuisine, sushi, pizza, ice cream, theaters, wine-tasting, bike shops, wind-sport shops and coffee shops. The house is also close to the Heights neighborhood with even more options for restaurants, shops, and the other grocery store. Of course, there are numerous options to enjoy Hood River’s world-famous windsurfing and kite-boarding sites (Event-Site, The Marina, and the large Hood River sand spit - great for launching kites) is a ~7-8 minute drive.
Very nearby are best-of-the-region wineries, within 2 miles at Cathedral Ridge (great reds and whites) or Marchesi (sumptuous Italian style wines); Also a short bike ride to the west is the Post Canyon trails complex with some of the best single-track and free-riding trails on the west coast (70+ miles of trails, optional stunts). Closer to Mt. Hood or across the Columbia river are many dozens of awesome hiking/waterfall and mt-bike trails. A Gorge hiking guidebook and maps are supplied.
Mt. Hood Meadows, the largest ski resort, is about 40 minutes south. A bit further, the classic Timberline Lodge even offers summer skiing higher up! Family-friendly Cooper Spur ski area is the closest, on this side of Mt. Hood. Trails for hiking, XC skiing or snow-shoeing are within 15-40 minutes drive depending on winter snow level. There are numerous scenic routes for road biking right from the house.
Exciting white-water rafting services, and kayaking is available on the White Salmon, Klickitat, and Deschutes rivers. See Zollers Outdoor Odyssey, 'zooraft' is their site name, for the very best rafting outfit - get reservations ahead of time!

Great home with plenty of space, comfortable beds and furniture, and so well-stocked! Gorgeous views of Mt. Adams and the buttes across the Columbia -even a sliver or two of the river. Superb location close to all the fun in town. I would stay there again and probably will !

Fantastic property that is well maintained. Would highly recommend it.

Visited for 5 nights to prepare for and attend daughter's wedding. This was so much better than being in town (although we did walk to town for restaurants). We had stayed in town in April but wanted the peace and quiet of a neighborhood this time and the space to spread out and unwind. Woke up to beautiful views every morning. Slept great! This place was perfect.

We had a great time at this house in the middle of hot summer 2024 (AC works very well). The house is very comfortable with big deck overlooking Mt. Adams. Post Canyon is only 2.5 miles. Downtown would be a long walk but only a short drive.
The owner was very responsive and addressed an issue very quickly.

Enjoyed our stay. We were in town for a weekend wedding. Location is very convenient to downtown, but it was nice to be far enough from the ever-present highway and train noise we’ve experienced when we’ve stayed at hotels closer to the river.
We visited at a time where we could have windows wide open, enjoying the early summer weather.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay in the Hood River area, and this home provided all the comforts of home at the end of each full day of exploring. Each morning we drank our coffee while taking in the mountain views, and thehost provided much local information to help make our daily plans. Would definitely book again.

This was the perfect place for our family bday celebration! Great location and amazing view of mt hood. Just wish there was another bathroom.

My co-worker and I greatly enjoyed the peacefulness of the house and the amazing view, especially from the deck. While not at our workshop, we spent most of our time out there on the deck, working on our project and enjoying the spectacular view of Mt. Adams. We loved the simple elegance of the interior and the open floor plan oriented towards the great view.

Overall a good location and nice place. Had a mix up with the rental being double booked, but host resolved it quickly. Other guests were quite rude, but that’s not the host’s fault! Views are beautiful and neighborhood is nice and quiet

Very nice setup. Nice views. If you like to cook, the kitchen has just about everything you would need. Leigh is extremely communicative and shares a lot of good info about the area.

Can't beat the view. I could sit on the upstairs deck all day while reading and enjoying the view. The location is ideal for getting to all the usual spots. Quiet neighborhood. The unit is stylish, well equipped, and all the furniture was very comfortable.
The only downside was that the unit is shared at times. I guess I didn't read the fine print. I didn't have a problem with it, but the wife and kid were a little annoyed. They get a little nervous around people they don't know. The upstairs unit is well sound proofed, securely locked from the upstairs, and the occupants were quiet and respectful. Again, no biggy for me and it's my fault for not reading the fine print.
The owner was kind and responsive. I would stay there again, but would inquire about the occupancy prior to bringing the family. If it was just me and a friend I wouldn't even care if people were staying below us.
At any rate, the place is a definite gem. We enjoyed our stay.

We were very pleased with the McAdams View rental! The home was spacious and well-appointed. We especially appreciated how well-stocked it was with dishes, cooking utensils, appliances, etc.—more than any other place we’ve stayed. The location was convenient for our daily ventures out to hike in the surrounding area. Leigh was very responsive with an issue we had, and even gave us some fresh-caught fish to grill. We would definitely stay here again.

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful property. The house is wonderful with great space, beautiful open plan kitchen and living room and large bedrooms and lots of light. Sitting out on the balcony enjoying morning coffee and views of expansive hills and trees was the best way to start the day! The hosts were so helpful with great recommendations of where to go to enjoy wineries, dining and hikes. Mt Hood is a great destination - such a cute town with great dining, art, village markets, music wineries, orchards, lakes and so many great hikes and more!! It’s a true gem of a find for us! Very grateful for such a beautiful Labor Day vacation!

This property was simply lovely with all details considered and anticipated needs met. The location is convenient and the view from the deck so nice to greet in the morning. A great slot for our stay!

We were in the area to attend a wedding. Our accommodations were perfect! This home was clean and well appointed. The hosts were attentive and accommodating. Overall, we had a terrific stay and enjoyed exploring Hood River.
4.9
This house was in a convenient location close to the swim center and post canyon. We came to windsurf and bike ride and it was perfect for that. The deck is lovely with a nice view of the river and Mt Adams. And a very well stocked and user friendly kitchen. It was really nice that the owner had left some basics in the refrigerator and pantry for use. I look forward to staying here again.

We have rented vacation homes all over the world and this was one of the best. Immaculately clean, well stocked, stylish and comfortable. It is clear the owners take exceptional care to assure their renters have a positive experience. 100% recommend.

Hood River itself is beautiful, people are nice and friendly. There are so many activities to keep you occupied during your visit. The house was clean and well equipped. My husband and I rode a motorcycle 14 hours over 2 days, in the middle of the July heat wave. This was our only vehicle during our vacation. So, We were not pleased to find the thermostat being controlled remotely by the owner. After a long hike we returned to find the thermostat set at 88 degrees, when I had set it to 82 before leaving. There were multiple nights where my husband and I would wake up in a sweat to find the thermostat raised again. Throughout our 4 day stay the thermostat kept being changed to above 80 degrees making our stay extremely uncomfortable and frustrating. Upon checkout, there was a long list of household chores to complete. And we were asked to leave their housekeeping a tip. We have stayed in rentals all over, and have never been asked to leave their housekeeper a tip.

My partner and I stayed at this property for the week of our wedding, and it was wonderful! The hosts provided all the information we needed so that our checkin was easy, and we’re very communicative throughout our stay! It was great for the two of us, as well as for my bridesmaids and I while getting ready, and had a wonderful kitchen for hosting. Overall, we loved it!

This house is in a quiet neighborhood overlooking Hood River and Mount Adams in a close distance. Adamsview has an open floor plan which is quite comfortable and spacious with large windows. A big deck serves extra space for warm weather entertaining All rooms are well stocked and amenities are upgraded. Landscaping well maintained. It is indeed a home away from home.

Property was great and as advertised. A/C a big plus for the weather we had. Would recommend!
4.9
Such an amazing spot that’s conveniently located and has a super nice patio with a gorgeous view. The beds were comfortable and the air mattress worked well too. Plenty of sheets and towels. Double sinks in bathroom were a bonus. Living room area and kitchen are a great open concept hangout area. Definitely would recommend!

Mt. Adams View was a perfect location for two couples for two days! The home was clean, the kitchen was exceptionally well stocked, and the view of Mt. Adams was stunning! Our hosts were most gracious and check in/out, directions, features, etc were well communicated.

The house was comfortble, charming and perfectly met our needs. We will be back!

Our stay was exactly as expected and the views were stunning. The house for our needs perfectly and had everything we needed. Great place to stay!

Loved the house! Clean, comfy, the view is great. My only complaint is how low the thermostat is set when you get there. Took a long time to heat up!

Very comfortable and well-equipped.

Was a perfect spot for a quiet and peaceful Thanksgiving break. The home was very clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen is very spacious allowing for a great cooking experience and the living room set up was equally perfect for lounging. It is a short distance to the grocery store and local coffee shops. And the view really was amazing on a clear day.

We arrived to a cozy, warm, clean house; which remained this way all weekend, very welcoming house to stay in. The view of Mount Adams was spectacular. The communication with the owners was exceptional and my family will stay here again.

Beautiful views of Mt. Adams from the main living area. Fantastic list of recommendations for things to do in the area. Convenient location.

Love this home - it was perfect for our small group of 4. Kitchen was fully stocked with what we needed to make our meals and a very comfortable space. Views of Mt Adams were beautiful. We also enjoyed being able to use the garage for our vehicle. It was a really nice location - just a few minutes drive from downtown Hood Riverland brew pubs and wineries.

Our family stayed for a long weekend. The location was perfect. The kids enjoyed the Children’s park not far away. We enjoyed the very clean and welcoming home for our family. The full kitchen, two kings beds, and access to laundry made our stay comfortable with two young kids. Thank you!!

Everything was exactly as listed. Leigh’s pre-check in email was incredible - so much detail and recommendations that we used. Check in was seamless and we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. We would absolutely stay again.

We loved the size and layout of this rental as well as the amazing views from the balcony. The unit came well equipped with anything you might need in the kitchen and bathroom and laundry as well as thoughtful additions such as the bluetooth speaker, board games and variety of books, magazines and brochures for local things to do. It was also extremely clean.

We were traveling to Washington for a Sunday wedding. Decided a VRBO would be a great idea for our stay. Found this house & it met all our needs. Leigh & LeAnne were great hosts.
