This home is warm and welcoming! The setting is so peaceful and serene. A great layout for our extended family. Grandparents, kids & grandkiddos. Lots of space to spread out and then gather in the huge eat-in kitchen for meals. Great area for kayaks, canoes, crabbing off the dock. We brought a large floating raft to stay above the jellies. About a 40 minute drive to beautiful Cape Charles (free public beach).

We explored the water ways around Onancock and the made several trips to Assateague and Chincotrague, the people of Onancock are the most friendly people you can meet.

Very cozy house with lots of bedrooms and common areas for chatting with family. We thoroughly enjoyed the spacious kitchen and family room, along with the beautiful view of the water. The sunset was lovely out on the dock!
Greg, the property manager, is extremely responsive and accommodating. He was a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend this home for gatherings with friends and family in a home-like setting.

Our family came to Onancock to spend the weekend because of the passing of our much loved Dad and my Sister Robin Rich-Coates. The College Eastern Shore Community College dedicated a sweet magnolia tree and several plaques in her honor. She was a professor in the sciences for decades and touched many young people’s lives mentoring and encouraging them to go forward with their degrees at 4 year colleges. We witnessed a community of people very unique on the Eastern Shore.. caring and loving and genuine. We also had a family time to spread our loved ones ashes in the sands at the Chincoteague oceans. The home was beautiful welcoming and well suited for family to enjoy time outdoors fishing and crabbing off the dock and we had a great time. It is well appointed and comfortable and clean! Greg our host was most helpful making sure to help with all arrangements and needs. Our pup Winnie also had a great time exploring the beautiful grounds and the marshy shore and water.

Home was easy to book and check in. The owner is fantastic and keeps the home in great condition. We had access to water activities and shopping. The central location on the Shore makes it an ideal vacation spot.

This place was amazing! We enjoyed going out to a local restaurant that was right on the water and had a band playing. The locals were cool and there were a good amount of people on vacation there. It was the perfect vibe. The house was about 15 minutes from the closest stores and Walmart, but was tucked away and very private. It was quiet and peaceful. We went swimming in the water, brought some tubes and tied them to the dock and floated around. It was like our own little swimming hole. There were some jelly fish during this time of the year, but if they brushed up against you, it didn’t hurt. The house had awesome decorations and had a lot of stuff in the house we could use. Greggory was an amazing host and was available whenever he was needed. Everyone in my group said they would want to come back and we will. Thank you Greggory for being an awesome host!

The perfect getaway. The house is stunning, from the landscape architecture and beautiful hydrangeas. The inside of the house is massive! Perfect for relaxing and entertaining. From grilling and relaxing on the porch overlooking the water to fishing or doing cannon balls off of the dock. We all had a ball, especially the kids and dogs alike! Greg was an excellent host and gave us great tips from restaurants to even finding local Peelers for fishing. Onancock is a magical little secret. We will be back for sure!!

The house is beautiful! Very clean, plenty of space for a big group, a very well equipped kitchen and a great big table for big group meals. The lot is beautiful. Nice flat yard for playing games and the flowers/shrubs were so pretty!
The location is secluded, surrounded by lots of farmland. Neighbors on both sides, but plenty of privacy. Just a 15 minute drive to walmart/grocery/pharmacy stores. The downtown area of Onancock is cute, but definitely not walkable from the house.
Greg was very helpful and so easy to work with. He was attentive without being annoying. Definitely a pleasure to work with him.
Our only complaint is the jellyfish in the water. Obviously, nothing Greg can do about it, but it did prevent us from swimming (after a few stings, we gave up). There are no nearby (less than 45 minutes) beaches, so we were out of luck with swimming but were still able to kayak and fish.
All in all and great stay!

Plenty of room for 10 people. Nice, clean and quiet. Will rent it again

The property is secluded on a small creek that is a short drive outside of Onancock, surrounded by farms and country roads. The home is perfectly suitable for up to 5 couples and a few children. All of the bedrooms are spacious and the kitchen/dining/family room layout is great for entertaining. The back porch and backyard have a wonderful view of the creek. Sunsets and sunrises are peaceful and quiet over the water. Great spot for family and friends to enjoy!

The house was very comfortable with plenty of room. The yard was large enough for children to play. Owner was just a text away. We had a wonderful time.

This is a great property. The house was very clean. It rests in a quite neighborhood. It was more than large enough for our large group. The backyard grass was cut and a great place for the kids to play. Also a great place to kayak. The roads are very low traffic making a bike ride into town very enjoyable. Greg was easy to work with, and checked to see if everything was acceptable when we arrived. A very nice overall experience.

NOT what it appears to be
The pictures of this property are deceiving. There is no sandy beach area. The dock is beyond damaged and cannot be assessed. The house has a strong mildew smell. The air conditioning does not work well. We brought our 12 year old dog to swim which she couldn't because there was no assess to the water like the pictures showed. The property has poison ivy all over, which we wound up getting. The TV did not work upstairs. The house is not nearly as large as it states.

Adult Oyster Roast Get Away Weekend
House was perfect. Easily slept 9 and was spacious enough that we were not on top of each other at all times. Minutes from Onancock and only a few more minutes to Rt. 13. The House gives you easy access to the entire Eastern Shore from a great home base. The house layout allowed the 5 of us that were in one group to be in one part of the house and everyone else was in the downstairs bedroom wing. We could all gather on the deck, kitchen, and living room yet still have our own space. Highly recommend going to the Island House Restaurant in Wachapreague.

Great quiet location!
We visited here for a week. House has a great set up for a large family gathering with the bedroom layout. It is well equipped in the kitchen as well.
The location on the creek is secluded and quiet. We docked our boat, kayaked, fished and caught crabs from the dock on the property. Being pet friendly also meant our lab was able to come with us on vacation. He enjoyed swimming everyday as well.
Highly recommend this house.

Nice reunion
I was returning to the East Coast after several years and needed a reasonably priced place close to Richmond and Williamsburg that would allow me to house and entertain friends and family so I could see them all and make their trip worthwhile. This property fit those requirements nicely and the owner was great with communication. Most people hung out at the house, but some of us made the short trip up to Chincoteague for a day and enjoyed some beach time. One warning, the ladder onto the dock out of the water was covered in some type of razor sharp mollusk. Bad news for the first up (me) but everyone else managed to avoid cuts after my warning. Really nice back deck and lawn. Neighbors were closer than I thought too, so I hope we didn't bug them staying up late and talking out back. Never heard any complaints so hopefully wasn't an issue.

Wonderful stay in Greg’s house
This is a very comfortable and sweet stays in the waterfront house. The house is so clean. Kitchen is very foundational. Every bedroom is like 5- stars hotel room. Surprisedly our fur children also has comfortable bed. So sweet. Bathrooms are clean and working perfectly. Backyard, wood-fire is ready for us for the night with beautiful sunset. The crab catchers are also work so well so that we got some crabs from the end of the deck. Both adults and Kids love it. Greg is such a responsible person with all the proper instruction on time. We all felt we were very well taking cared. Definitely we will be back to the house soon. Thanks for everything

Super Relaxing Beautiful Property
This house was perfect for my husband, daughter, mother, family friends, and I! We had a family wedding nearby and wanted to stay together. The house was clean and had more than enough space for us all. The host was very easy to communicate with and even had a fun sense of humor. 10/10 would stay again and recommend to all.

Wonderful property. I usually rent a place for a week 2-3 times a year with my two children (14 and 11) and a friend with her 14 year old. This by far has been the best house; it never felt as a rental but as visiting a family house. Very well kept and very personal. The rooms were all amazing and comfortable. The kids had a wonderful time (4 kids this time as my daughter invited a friend too so we had 2 14-year olds and 2-11 year olds). Everyone had ample of space and privacy (which I cherish even more during vacation). Kitchen was amazing too with everything one needs to feed 4 kids and there is a very bright sitting room watching the water.Best part was the yard and the pier on the water. Even though it was cold most days (snow in April!), we enjoyed the water. I brought my inflatable canoe and it was a beautiful ride to the Bay. (I didn’t hit any major currents). Very peaceful. Morning coffee by the pier was incredible!!!Oh and the roads are perfect for a road bike! Greg was very responsive and helpful.Overall, a perfect house to relax, read, enjoy the water and nature and still have plenty of room to keep privacy from your teenagers :-)

Perfect House
My group had plenty of space and enjoyed our time hanging out in the backyard and on the dock. Greg was so nice and easy to communicate with. We loved how flexible and accommodating he was throughout our entire stay! 10/10 would recommend and the house is just as it is in the photos - no surprises! Plenty of room for a large group!

We took our two adult sons, our daughter-in-law, and our three grandchildren to this spacious home on a gorgeous wooded lot with a backyard fronting the river and wild geese flying by occasionally and honking as they made their way south. The house was just right for us to have both privacy and to be together. The weather cooperated and we spent a lot of time out in the yard and on the dock. My grandson loves to fish. We had a fire in the fire pit a couple of nights and watch the stars and moon and enjoyed being outside together.Greg, the host, was great and stayed in touch to make sure we had everything we needed. He even provided an extra television and some charcoal for the grill! We spent five days there and were sorry to leave. It isn’t far from Onancock, which is a charming town. Chincoteague and the wildlife refuge were less than an hour away. All in all, a fabulous family holiday!Previous recommendations advising guests to bring bottled water were a good idea. The water is fine as is for showering and cooking, but has a mineraly taste for drinking. Easily remedied by bringing a few cases of bottled water. Our only other suggestion is to ask Greg to make arrangements in advance for enhancing the Internet connection, if you think you will want to stream anything or more than one person wants to stream something simultaneously. Although he tried valiantly to connect with the Internet provider to boost the capacity while we were there, it was Thanksgiving and the weekend and the provider wasn’t able to make any change while we were there. We have three grandchildren between the ages of five and 12 and wished we had had better streaming capacity so the adults could watch basketball while the kids streamed games or a movie. Not the end of the world, but that is the one thing I would have changed.Overall, a magical place and highly recommended. We would definitely return.

Waterfront hideaway
This is a charming house with waterfront views and direct access to the river, with its own dock and a little beach at low tide. The property is out in the sticks, so you need to take your own food. You might want to take your own water too, if people are fussy about the taste of their drinking water. The only sounds we heard were rain, birds and a rooster further up the river. We did come across a snake in the backyard, but it was not a deadly one. The river is very calm, perfect for kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. The water was not too cold for these activities, even in the rain, at this time of the year. A great getaway location for two families, which I’m sure would be even better in Summer time, without rain.

Wonderful location & service
Service: *****
Greg was a wonderful host. Very communicative, offered lots of great suggestions & guidance for getting the most out of our stay. He even told us what bait to use to catch the most fish!
Property/Location: *****
The property is gorgeous. Secluded with a huge backyard for games, and the private dock was great for fishing, crabbing, and swimming. We caught enough crab for dinner one night! We rented kayaks & paddled to Onancock for lunch & walking around. Chincoteague is less than an hour away if you want to do an ocean-side beach day. The country roads are nice & flat and of course low-traffic, great for biking around.
House: ***
The house is well-appointed and offers plenty of room, but definitely has some wear, much of it apparently from the high humidity on the property (it's right on the water, so that's to be expected). Some of the doors were warped & hard to open/close, the main bedroom area was stuffy and the entire house had a bit of a musty odor. It didn't really bother us but could cause trouble for people who are sensitive. Also, this is not a pure rental; someone clearly lives there when it's not rented out, as there were clothes & personal effects in the closets & drawers. Not a problem, really, but many VRBOs are pure rentals these days so just be aware. Given the price and the condition of the house, and in comparison to other properties at which we've stayed, we can't give the house itself more than 3 stars. But the service & location made up for whatever quibbles we had.
Oh, and note that there is NOT a hot tub -- it is a two-person soaking tub in the master bath. It's noted on the web version of the listing but not in the app, so I missed the clarification, much to my family's disappointment.

Perfect Coronavirus Family Vacation Spot!
We were looking for a place that would be scenic and away from large crowds during the pandemic; this house was perfect. It's right on Onancock Creek, which flows into the Chesapeake Bay, and you can swim right off the dock. There are lots of activities available, including kayaking and boating. It's also close to Chincoteauge/Assateague (45 minutes).
Onancock is a very quaint, quiet, pretty town, although we didn't spend much time there because of the pandemic.
Greg was very helpful and suggested activities. House was more than big enough for our large family. It would be a great spot for a family reunion or celebration.

Secluded Gem - Relaxing and Private
The house is ample, rustic, and beautifully situated with gorgeous water views. The backyard is set back nicely so kids can play soccer, frisbee, football, etc, comfortably. The dock was a ton of fun for fishing and as a launching point for paddle boarding.
The outdoor patio was relaxing in the mornings, and fun in the evenings with the fire pit for s'mores. The kitchen was ample for two families to relax and enjoy breakfasts between the dining table and bar seating.
The layout of the bedrooms was convenient for two families with two upstairs and three downstairs so each family had a little privacy at bedtime.
We had never been to Onancock before and found it to be a sweet town with good seafood and outdoor seating at Mallards, an enjoyable historic kayaking tour, and good fishing/pony watching boating tours in Chincoteague.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the house, highly recommend it, and would love to return!

A MUST STAY! COMING BACK AGAIN!
The house was beautiful and very well maintained with a great view and a nice dock in the back. We swam, kayaked, and fished behind the house and had an absolute blast! We caught a bunch of fish off the dock and ended up eating some of them! Greg was an amazing host and treated us like he’s known us for years! He had quick responses to any questions we had along the way. The neighbors on both sides were super nice and helpful as well. We would highly recommend this getaway to all families and all ages! We had an amazing week! We will be back soon!
