Cold but good breakfast

Breakfast

My room was very cold (18 second floor). Air was flowing from the window (closed) and no heater was available. There was a fan so I guess for summer it is ok. I have been there the 16/17 February. I specified the room because it seemed to me that different parts of the hotel had different heating, so that I was in the part of the building that was colder.

Nice small place

Close to the flatiron building and to Madison parc. You hve access to the eating area where you can grab at least a caffee in the morning. Clean bathrooms. Unfortunately our room smelt like pee..it doesn't get away non even with an open window..

Superb

Great location, 3 minutes from the subway, staff was very friendly. The kitchen and breakfast are a big plus. I highly recommend this place, would surely come back

It was a nice stay

It was very clean and comfortable. Stuff super nice! Andre very helpful. Very good coffee what is unusual lol For breakfast fresh fruits and tasty cakes :)

No daylight in my room :( that was strange a bit claustrophobic feeling

Cheap place to stay. But you get what you pay for.

This is a very no frills place to stay. The location was great and it was cheap.

The heater made extremely loud noises, which wake you up in the night. It was released a very strange smell. The blanket I was given in the room was quite dirty. And the shower on the second floor was terrible.

Location, breakfast was good, staff were friendly great value for money. Oh and you have to try Orions on 23rd Street food was amazing.

Number of stairs, assumed there would be a lift ( my fault for not checking), so didnt highlight mobility issues when booking, staff did try to accommodate but was fully booked (will ask for room on main floor of I get back to NY)

I didn t like it

I was hopeful reading the reviews but the location is not great at all, it s lost in the east side and next to a UPS garage. if you have a room in front of the street you can t sleep and on the other side you have no light but a wall of bricks at your window. i didn’ t find the staff especially nice. just the bare minimum. the equipment is old, the bed not comfortable. moreover there are several perm residents living in this hostel (homeless people).

Recommendable budget hostel/hotel

This is clearly a budget hostel/hotel, so not for anyone seeking luxury. It's very reasonably priced, and excellently located. The staff were superfriendly and helpful, and it was very clean. We hadn't anticipated breakfast, but things were provided: it was a bit hit-and-miss exactly what was there, but still much appreciated to have a bite and a coffee before hitting the town.

The plumbing was a bit old (in both the showers on our floor, it was very difficult to turn off the cold tap). The bunk bed was a bit narrow and squeaky.

The location

Not really clean. No hot water un the bathroom or burning water. Something was broken and we could’nt use it. In the bedroom a really strong noise all of the Time coming from thé pipe.

The breakfasts were amazing, really set us up well. The staff were lovely and location was perfect for all things Manhattan!

We got 2 of the smaller rooms which were cramped but that's ok for the price. Also the bunk were creaky... The person on top bunk invariably caused creams with every move. However the mattresses were comfy.

Better than airbnb and a standard hotel. You're like at a friend's house

Amdre and Courtney are amazing hosts. They really care about your well-being during your stay, and they will manage to help you and assist you in everything you need, and more. They are so flexible, and so accommodating. Better than any standard hotel. You are pampered. I will definitely recommend and renew with American Dream for my next trips to New York. Thank you so so much. I will never forget what you did for me. My daughters and I will be forever grateful.

Very good

The staff is very kind and careful showing facility and amenities in the bedroom. Breakfast was excellent and the position is fantastic, in the middle of Manhattan.

The bedroom was not very soundproofed, so during the night you hear some noise. My suggestion is to bring some earplugs.

Superb

Very good price for staying right in the middle of Manhattan, we walked nearly everywhere. Room was big enough and it's so convenient to have some breakfast included, which is absolutely not the standard in this price range and location. Owner and staff were very nice and helped immediately in the case of any issue or question. I came with a baby and the atmosphere was so family friendly!

Temperature adjustment was a bit tricky due to the old heating but I got additional blankets immediately
