Perfectly private yet close to Bar Harbor, Acadia, and other activities.

Our stay was wonderful from beginning to end. Capt. Hull House is convenient to everything but on a quiet wooded parcel of land. Perfect!

The house was plenty big and accommodating. Three of us were celebrating our upcoming 60th and had a blast. The rooster crows on time at 5:30 am and is the best alarm you could have. We did have a few days of rain which kept us from enjoying the deck but we did get a couple of days enjoying it. The house was so clean and had very nice toiletries. It was well stocked.
Thank you to Trish Ropp for letting us enjoy your home.

Very close to Acadia; perfect for large family gathering.

The house was great. We had a wonderful time.

We filled the house with family and felt very comfortable. Beautiful home, well cared for. We even enjoyed wiffleball in the back yard. So close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. We really enjoyed it.

This is one of many VRBO properties we have stayed at for our family reunion and this one was by far the best! First, you are serenaded by chickens and ducks that live on the family farm! Second, the house is large and accommodated our family of 10 and was practically at the entrance of Acadia National park! We hiked and did the e-bike adventure and even spent a day mountain climbing! The hospitality was par excellence and a great time was had by all! Highly, highly recommend!

Authentic Bar Harbor experience

We had 8 adults and 1 toddler. Location was very close drive to downtown Bar Harbor and yet away from the large crowds. House amenities were plenty, house was clean, large and very good condition. 2 1/2 bathrooms a major plus. Owner was available to help and very friendly.
Would stay here again for sure. Only concern would be if it’s hot and humid, no air conditioning. Thanks Trish.

We stayed here for a family trip to see Acadia Mountain and experience Bar Harbor. The house was very accommodating for our party of 8 adults. It had everything we needed including coffee filters and laundry pods (it’s the little things that impress me the most)! We never felt cramped and everyone had their own bed, as I had 4 adult children staying with me. Close to the mountain and trails as well as downtown Bar Harbor. House was clean, had plenty of towels and pillows, and kitchen had everything needed to cook meals. Loved the chickens and ducks that roamed around the yard too!

Our group absolutely adored this precious historic home. The kitchen and baths were fully stocked and the beds were super comfy.
We would definitely stay here again. The owner, Trish, was a little gem.

My husband and I, along with another couple, thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sea Captain's house.
The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The location is great as well, very close to downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
And communication with the owner was excellent!
I highly recommend this vacation rental!

My family of 10 (grandparents, parents, kids) stayed here and had a wonderful time. The house was more than big enough and is in a great location to downtown and the park. The kids had plenty of room to play inside and out. The kitchen is a nice space. All amenities are in great condition.

Nice house with a great location close to downtown Bar Harbor but in a secluded location. Nice yard and large deck. House had all amenities and was large and comfortable.

Rented house for our family vacation. House was great and as advertised. Had a minor pluming issue and Patricia addressed it very quickly and around our schedule. Great vacation!

This was the perfect place for a family of 12. Just 5 minutes from Acadia, we went there every day. Highly recommend!

We loved staying at the Sea Captain’s house. They thought of a lot of extras that would be useful for kids, including a pack and play, high chair, games, etc. Communication was great. We were nervous about all the nice breakable dishes on display but the kids stayed away. Super close to the entrance to Acadia and down the street there are a few great restaurants, a gas station, etc.

Perfect vacation spot, tucked away and private enough for the kids (2-9) to play outside and ride their bikes. The location is also close enough to Bar Harbor and popular hiking spots in Acadia. Added bonus was the close location of Hull's Cove . The kids loved walking there during low tide and playing in the water. If you go during July 4th you can even see the fireworks from Bar Harbor! The house while older is well maintained, charming, very clean and well stocked. Trish has added a lot a small touches that were very conveient for our stay. There were extra towels, dish towels, paper products, soaps, primary seasonings and well stocked kitchen supplies. Trish was very accomadating during our stay and easy to communicate with. This is definitely a place we would stay again

We had a wonderful time and loved this location. We were able to easily get to Acadia National Park and enjoyed biking and hiking. The house was roomy and comfortable, and we loved relaxing on the porch

We really enjoyed our stay. The owner provided all basic needs (paper towels, toilet paper, etc.) which was awesome because we traveled from PA to ME and we didn't have to pack these items. The house was in a great location and a nice size for our family and friends. We hope to go back sometime.

We enjoyed our stay at the Sea Captain’s house. It was perfect for what we needed and wanted. Trish was very accommodating and made all of us feel welcome. The little details were excellent ( q-tips, great pillows, Dixie cups, labeled light switches, ….

This property was exactly what my group of 4 couples was looking for! A huge amount of space for everyone to spread out, relax, and cook, all while a very easy drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Several nice restaurants are walkable and the house itself is in a quiet but not empty-feeling area. Yes, the floors creak and doors are loud, but for a house of this age and size, it's in excellent shape. Would highly recommend for a similar-sized group looking for a convenient and well-equipped place to stay!

My family (2 adults, 2 young children) stayed here for 3 weeks. We worked remotely, explored Acadia, and hosted family for visits. The house is perfectly situated for young children to play unsupervised outside, ride bikes, and enjoy nature. Short driving distance to lakes, trails, beaches, restaurants, and Bar Harbor Village. The house is incredibly comfortable, including very nice beds, bedding, towels, and everything you need in a kitchen.

The house easily accomodated 3 families. It was a warm week so the fans were a nice touch in rooms without ceiling fans. Loved Bar Harbor and would recommend staying here.

Trish provides a wonderful home for your Acadia Park vacation. We, 2 of our kids, in-loves, and 6 of our grandkids (3-10) loved the house and deck complete with a picnic table for kids and another for adults. The grill works great too! The deck provided lots of space for meals, playing games and hanging out. Having it just through the sliding doors from a large family room allowed us all to be close to the action but have multiple conversations.
There's 1 bath up, a second on the main, and a half in the laundry room (a very helpful feature). They were busy with the 12 of us but very doable.
The location is very convenient. Exit the lane, turn left and you're 1 mile from an east side Acadia entrance, just a few mile more and you are in Bar Harbor. If you turn right you'll be in the west side in under 20 minutes.
Favorites enjoyed in Bar Harbor, Acadia and beyond:
The tide pools between Bar Harbor and the Island. Pure joy once the kids slowed and really explored! Lot's of gleeful shouts of " I found...a rock crabs, starfish, an eel, hermit crab...."
Bubble Rock- without kids, took an easy route up, then switched to a challenging down to Jordon's Pond.
Cadillac Mountain- In July you'll have to hike up if you want to see the sunrise. The road up to the parking lot is closed until 6AM. Be sure to reserve an entry time online if you're driving up. There's a great view from the top!
Biking the Carriage Road- rented from Acadia Outdoor Center- great bikes and a friendly owner! You'll love their gelato after the ride! A quick calorie recovery- but hey you're on vacation.
Echo Lake Beach- water temp was perfect, nice sandy beach with a slow decline- wonderful for kids.
Galyn's- Oysters and Muscles.
The Stadium- Lattes, scones, cookies, and blueberry donuts- grab something and walk down the hill toward the harbor. There's a very nice park with plenty of benches.
The Lobster Co.- Lobster Roll and Fish Tacos
Abel's Lobster- Lobster, Fish & Chips- great outdoor area for waiting, playing corn hole, or a picnic table view, AC dinning room that's comfortable with kids.
Charolotte's- Lobster Roll (outdoor eating, picnic tables, play area w/ games, squirt guns & goats to watch)
All of the above got two thumbs up from our crew.
Have a fantastic time- tell Trish we said hi!

We spent a delightful week in Captain Hull's House. It was a pleasure to find everything in the description of the house was accurate and honest. I would add the house is situated down a lane, away from traffic, noise and bright lights. We felt safe, as the owners were in a house close by. Our family greatly enjoyed evenings on the large deck, listening to the birds, admiring the large trees and the flower gardens around the house. Our visit was in July, yet the weather was delightfully cool at night, so we often ate on the deck and lingered, afterwards. The pizza parlor on the corner named "Pepper's Pizza" is amazing and provides quick takeout. We also found the nearby town of Ellsworth has delicious restaurants and shopping at a much discounted price compared to Bar Harbor. A short drive to The Beacon Bar and Grill in Trenton, there are lobster rolls and dinners for much less than in Bar Harbor. And, they have a great kids menu, delicious IPA selection and decadent desserts. The water park, zip line and climbing wall at the Wild Acadia Camping Resort in Trenton is a good time. Captain Hull's House is in a great location to have family fun up and down the coast AND enjoy the wonders of Acadia National Park.

The house was the perfect set-up for a family get together with multiple small children under 3! The hostess had enough high chairs, pack-n-plays, and was very attentive to my barrage of questions about accommodations for a large group (including lobster pots and plastic plates for the kids). The property was clean and exactly as described in the listing. Leading up to our visit and during our stay, the hostess was very responsive to any questions or requests and had local recommendation for businesses and events. We had a wonderful visit to Bar Harbor and Acadia! Grateful for the lovely place we had to stay.

Trish was an excellent host. She was always available to help or answer questions. Our family enjoyed the time that we spent there. It was close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. We would love to visit again.

Our family, 11 of us including children and their spouses, grandchildren and nephew and spouse,,,, had a great time in this spacious house. Plenty of room for "alone time" as well as huge living room with 3 couches and a large kitchen/dining area!! Very nicely furnished and clean!

It was evident that the owners put a lot of love into updating this pretty, historic home with special touches, a convenient 5-10 minute drive to the Acadia information center and about a 15 minute drive to Bar Harbor. The home was spacious and had beautiful light brown wood floors throughout with the walls painted a crisp white along with much of the woodwork. In the kitchen, there were all the dishes, glassware and pots/pans that one needed for cooking although we always ate in Bar Harbor for the short time we stayed there. The 3 bedrooms upstairs and the master downstairs were very comfortable with attractive bedding. The living area was expansive with plenty of seating for a family and/or friends. Since we experienced cooler fall temperatures, we found the heating system heated quickly thus keeping us toasty warm.
We would certainly recommend this historic home to any guests and wouldn’t hesitate to stay in the future.

We rented this house for our wedding and it was absolutely perfect for the grooms family. It was spotless, great for entertaining in the kitchen/dining and the beds were extremely comfortable. Everyone enjoyed their stay and I cannot thank the hosts enough for making this a perfect and easy weekend for us. We would 100% come back and stay here again in the future. The location is 3 minutes from Acadia, 5 from downtown Bar Harbor with great restaurants and shopping. The location and house can’t be beat! Absolutely a must-stay!

This beautiful, large home is close to Rt. 3 in Hull's Cove (Chart Room restaurant is located there) about 3 minutes by car from the Visitor's Center to Acadia National Park. From there you can get on the Island Explorer buses (free in 2021; check out all the routes online). The description in VRBO is accurate,; it is very clean and spacious. The owner Trish is easily accessible if you have a question. She stopped by to meet us and we had a wonderful chat. We were 4 older ladies visiting the area and one is a gourmet cook. She reports that every pot, pan and tool she wanted was there. The kitchen itself is well furnished with nice flatware and dishes. Plenty of parking space for our car. Many comfortable beds. Three bedrooms upstairs and a bedroom and sleeping porch downstairs and a huge living room and deck. Wow! Just wonderful! We had a great time. Thank you, Trish!
