The setting and the main house are beautiful
The new house is not really to our taste
4.3
Great hotel with lovely garden and cosy communal rooms.
Our bedroom was nice with good bathroom but in the eaves with no proper windows to look out
Fine for one night

The hotel is lovely and in a very unusual, beautiful area of the city. The breakfast room is very pretty , overlooking beautiful gardens and the breakfast was very good. The staff are excellent and the room very comfortable.

Having traveled around the world, this is one of the greatest gem hotels I've stumbled upon. It is a truly gorgeous house on lovely, well-tended grounds. I can't imagine why you wouldn't come here for a weekend from anywhere in the UK. We stopped here before beginning the Hadrian's Wall Path (I hope somehow that tags this comment so other walkers find this beautiful respite) and were delighted by the facilities and hospitality.

All in all what's not to like
The Rhubarb, ginger and strawberry trifle while the flavour was perfect the presentation was ugly and definitely not of a standard that I would expect, the portion size was far too big and the presentation very unrefined.

Liked the spacious room and the windowseat in the bay window overlooking the garden was a bonus! Room was clean and comfortable. Delicious meal in the restaurant and breakfast the following morning. Friendly staff.
There was nothing to dislike!

The beautiful building and garden. The location, right on the doorstep of lovely Jesmond Dene. Very friendly staff and warm welcome. Good cocktails! Enjoyable breakfast with perfectly poached eggs!
Nothing really. The lounge bar is comfy and stylish, but the night we were there it lacked a cosy ambiance. As the fire wasn't lit, all that was needed was a few candles on the tables. But that is a personal preference!

Amazing hotel, full of old world character with modern bedrooms set in beautiful grounds. Staff are great too.
4.3
Rooms were adequate but not outstanding given the charges. We asked for one room to be accessible. We were offered a room on the ground floor but the bathroom was not accessible
Very few staff and those that were on duty appeared to have limited knowledge. Breakfasts were poor in quality and quantity and dinners very limited in menu. For all meals food was overcooked

We had an excellent stay here and, following a minor issue with our initial room, were moved without hesitation to a larger, better room. The staff were all great, the rooms are lovely and the location is good in relation to Jesmond, Jesmond Dene and the nearest Metro.

Very friendly staff.
Lovely property & location
Delicious breakfast, fabulous choice. Freshly cooked hot food.
Room very cramped. Up a lot of stairs.
Disappointed that our elderly friends who were also staying were allocated an attic room. This should have been recognised at check in.
