Cleanliness, facilities and staff.
No hot water for morning shower, although it was being fixed: we were just up too early🙂

The hotel was lovely, the restaurant and reception were beautiful and we liked the cube. the room was large and spacious, warm and cozy. No outside noise after 10:30pm which was amazing given how busy you were
Very creaky floorboards in the bedroom, felt very self conscious moving around. The bathroom looked smart but had mould on the shower screen and taps were very stiff.
Mattress was comfortable but pillows were awful, like two bricks.
Felt unsafe from 9pm onwards till around 1030pm, too many people in the cube and no SIA presence. Poor receptionist looked harassed and couldn’t offer service as she was constantly opening the front door to throw people out. Very small breakfast for price and bacon and sausage undercooked.

the location is great, the bedroom we had (44) was large and clean with a lovely bathroom. It was also really quiet given how busy the town was.
Last year we had breakfast on the property, this year it was in the Penny Farthing whjch was better. Food was very good as a whole.
The bed was way too hard, I like a firm mattress but this reminded me of when you did your back in and you out a plank of wood underneath you to keep your back straight.
The cube was once again chaotic and too full , and how you can not have orange juice on any bar is beyond me!
lack of security giving access to the bedrooms was also a concern, they seemed to be on the door when they felt like it.
chef on Sunday did excellent poached eggs, chef on Monday did not and sent out overcooked hard poached eggs.

Not available in the hotel in the cellar room or the bars. We were told to go to a Cafe in the street in the rain this was not an option
Keys issued when the room wasn't ready. Went back 40mins later still moping the floor. The cellar restraurant not available for breakfast or an evening meal as still being advertised. Being sent to a Cafe down the street in the rain for breakfast which we refused. We left as soon as possible.

We were moved to a two bedroom apartment due to our room not being available on arrival. The apartment was spacious and had a car parking space outside the front door. We had dinner at the Hotel restaurant which was 2 minutes walk, while a good cooked breakfast was provided at the cafe across the street. Staff were all very friendly and helpful.
On arrival, we had some difficulty in finding our way to the Hotel car park which is located at the rear of the property. However, we had a car parking space just outside our apartment which was great.

Location and the room was spectacular

The hotel was beautifully presented, cosy and welcoming. We stayed in a separate annex which totally exceeded our expectations, we absolutely loved it! We had a large open plan sitting area and bedroom, there was a freestanding bath, shower and separate toilet. The room was so clean, decorated beautifully and the staff had also arranged for a bottle of prosecco as we were staying for my boyfriend’s birthday😊 we cant wait to come back!

Nice setting, large car park, great beer
Room was dated, cobwebs in room, shower pressure very poor

Nice room in the Annex
Great breakfast

it’s a nicely appointed hotel in pretty Cowbridge
The room I had was very noisy with the creamy stairwell for the floor above being part of it (room 5!). such as shame as the room is spacious with a nice aspect
4.3
Lovely food, room was beautiful and very clean and comfortable.
Could have done with blackout blinds or curtains as the room was very light during the night but this did not detract from a lovely stay here.

Great location, really good breakfast, lovely atmosphere especially in the busy bars and restaurant
Shame there aren't any dog-friendly rooms in free original part of The Bear, which has so much more atmosphere

We have stayed at this hotel a few times and always enjoy ourselves. The staff are friendly and very conscientous. The only niggle was the breakfast which we had in the Farthings across the road. The cooked breakfast was cold in parts and presentation could have been better. Ideally breakfast would be better served at the Bear Hotel.
Stated above.

Good location, quirky building. Staff friendly and helpful
Evening food variable (some good, but had to send one back.) Breakfast choice very limited beyond the cooked breakfast.
4.3
As a venue and location for our needs it was very good. The overall feel of the hotel and village was excellent. We will without doubt be using the Bear Hotel in the future. We loved the breakfast arrangement it made you feel integrated within the community.
Nothing to do with the Hotel but on booking our room online, I thought we had upgraded the room in comparison to the one we had. But the accommodation we did get, was very good and didn't in anyway effect our stay.

All good, no complaints

The bear is in a great location on Cowbridge High Street, offering a choice of comfortable rooms. We had a relaxing overnight stay in a superior double. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal in the Hotel's restaurant and a nice cooked breakfast, which was served across the road at the sister venue 'The Penny Farthing'. We found the staff on the reception, behind the bar and in the restaurant, very polite and helpful. Overall an enjoyable & pleasant overnight stay.

very convenient to where I needed to go.
narrow stepped stair case and uneven floors with a step into the room. Needed to concentrate on my balance.
