Room was excellent breakfast was out of this world. Location was in a brilliant area and the staff were so helpful
Nothing everything was excellent
4.3
Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. The decor downstairs was very impressive although the ceilings needed repairing. The staff were friendly.
The room was very dated and gloomy. There were no water glasses and the bed was very hard. The shower was too harsh with no way to lower the flow. The water drained away from the bath and shower very slowly.
The carpet on the stairs was fixed with tape in places. Definitely not five star!
4.3
Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Bed was comfy. We hadn't planned on staying for breakfast but when we came down to leave the aroma from the cook breakfast made us change our minds. It was amazing. Every consievable food item was available.

We stay here a lot we love Brighton and this hotel is the only one we will stay in
Nothing

Great ocean side and walk about location. Good fish and chips in hotel restaurant. Good service.
Had to ask to have furniture placed on our balcony which was otherwise empty. ( was done immediately though) Strong fresh paint smell on first night.
4.3
Exceptional hotel and service - first time staying here and already looking forward to returning. We were very tempted to book an extra night we enjoyed it that much!
This is very minor, but the only issue we had was when we opened the window (room 212) there was a leaking pipe right next to which was a little annoying, but this is obviously room specific !

The location is great close to everywhere
The is big and beautiful

Location and ambiance
Our toilet did not flush correctly, plumber checked twice. First time told us it was an old system, but every other toilet we used in Brighton was fine and just as old. Second time, he went to reception and we were given another room which was fine.
4.3
Staff were great and accommodated my partner and I to an early check in. Room was clean and tidy.
Bath and shower great.
Close to the beach great location
Tap leaked a little but no issues.

The location of the hotel is greet and the valet parking was important to us. Love the history of the old building.
The hotel is trading on its old reputation, it’s somewhat tired on the 6th floor and we were given a back room with the window half opaqued put as the view was so bad out of the back. We had an issue with plumbing and our bathroom flooded when we used the shower. No niceties like slippers or robes. The buffet breakfast was disappointing for a hotel such as this. Wasn’t aware of a spa or pool. If they’re there, they’re not publicised. It just generally didn’t meet expectations.

£20 breakfast was worth it. Good quality buffet with lots of choice.
Well staffed with friendly and efficient people.
Needs a little TLC on carpets and where decoration has been damaged.
4.3
Beautiful hotel and stunning interior, the room was a bit dated but a lovely comfortable bed. Really nice touch having a dog bowl and treats and a bed left for our dog
Really nice nothing to complain about
4.3
Beautiful hotel with a stunning interior, the rooms were big and comfortable, the facilities worked well.
We left some items behind when we packed up to leave. I emailed the hotel when we got back home and realised our error. There was no reply after a few days so I sent another message, this time using the chat feature on their website. I received a completely inappropriate response from them later that day and I am still unsure whether I will be able to get my items back.

Perfect location, lovely hotel and staff all very friendly. Breakfast had loads of choice and food was great. The room was really modern and furnished beautifully. We had an upgrade so even better!
Car parking additional

The room was lovely, very comfy bed! The breakfast was beautiful and the breakfast dining room really had the wow factor!
It was a shame our room was so dark and literally had a view of a wall. I know we couldn't afford the sea view room but perhaps this should have been pointed out on booking as I'm sure there were rooms that had some light into them on the other side of the corridor.

A famous old building, with amazing views of the sea
Expensive

As soon as we got there, the receptionist said that they had given us a complimentary upgrade. The room was incredible! It was such a kind gesture and made our experience out of this world.
Clean room, kind friendly staff, amazing location!
There wasn’t one thing that we didn’t like.

Accommodation was great really appreciated the upgrade to junior suite which was a nice surprise
Food. We had no choice due to space etc and ended up with room service.Charged for the service not out of choice. Quality of food was pretty abysmal Phone and tv were not functioning properly in the room either.
4.3
Nice reception & hallway areas. Lovely view from the room. Great food from the bar.
Tired bathroom with poor shower which was a little hazardous to get out of, especially for my 70 year old Mum. Room was too warm & air con only went as low as 19 degrees. Bed just a double; King size would be much better. Breakfast was average.

Comfortable bed, clean room. Excellent breakfasts; great mocktails; relaxed atmosphere in the bar; lovely afternoon tea in sea-view setting. Staff were attentive and helpful without being intrusive.
Room was a bit hot and view not great. Carpets in communal areas really need repair/replacement; the sticky tape lets the place down a bit and could be a trip hazard. Sometimes waited a bit longer than would have liked for service in the bar.
4.3
The breakfast was excellent, always staff checking that the food was okay and that everyone was happy with the service. Good WiFi.
Parking is not free or guaranteed. The lifts were very slow.
4.3
We are regular visitors for short mid week breaks which we find are an available at reasonable prices. The property is very comfortable and has a calm ambiance.
On this occasion we found the service in the lounge bar mixed. Dependant upon which staff were working. Some were very efficient. Others less so. On the one occasion we dined in the Cyan restaurant whilst the food was reasonable quality yet quite expensive we were not over impressed with the service. We were asked if we wanted dessert before our main course had been removed. We declined and the plates had still not been taken away before our requested bill was produced. Small concerns perhaps but out of character for such a normally high quality establishment.
4.3
Communication was excellent, all of the staff were very friendly. Room was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent.
Room was a little too warm and AC wouldn't go below 19 degrees.
4.3
Attention to detail at check in, friendliness and luggage store (which was taken to room whilst I was in town)
The bar closed early as we returned from a concert (despite 3 tables of 4-6 still in the bar area) - was told the only option was to go to room and order room service - which we did and then came back to the bar…….for an additional cost.
Major works commenced before 9am in room adjacent - power tools and significant banging - no chance of a small lie in and no pre warning - poor in my opinion. Plenty of other places to stay and I will in future. I’m a brightonian and back frequently to visit family and friends, the Grand’s reputation isn’t justified
4.3
Lovely room, nice view and comfortable bed. Clean and well decorated.
Reception staff were not welcoming. The immediate surrounding area isn’t very nice.

Nice looking hotel with friendly staff. Unfortunately the room is very dated and smelled a bit old and there was a lot of noise in the morning around 530 that Unfortunately woke me up
The location was perfect

Room was lovely
Staff were exceptionally helpful, our son had a n assessment at Brighton college and was nervous and one of the breakfast waiter was so understanding and wrapped up a selection of food for our child to have when he recovered his nerves.
No swimming pool?!!
4.3
Its position and the history behind the hotel
It would be better if breakfast was served at table ,appreciate this costs money but would be prepared to pay more for the service
4.3
Amazing, feel really welcomed and relaxed
