The breakfast was excellent and freshly cooked. Great poached eggs, mushroom and bacon. The man serving it was very friendly and helpful.
The room had a terrible damp smell of mould and mildew. It wasn’t particularly clean and there was a cluster of cobwebs in the bathroom. Struggled to get the shower to work which was a trickle when the water finally came through. The tea-making facilities hadn’t been cleaned, cups had coffee stains and old water sat in the kettle.
It wasn’t worth £120 and I wouldn’t stay there again.

Good location in Long Melford. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable

The Village.
The attitude of the management. One of them had parked their car across the entrance to the car park so we couldn't get out. Had to walk a considerable distance to our restaurant. The Crown was packed and we had no idea who's car it was. They really weren't that bothered. Ignorant.

The restaurant was smart and decorated tastefully and the food was of a good standard. Staff very friendly. Bathroom was very nice, especially the shower.
Reception area needed some tlc as did the area where the sofas were. The stair carpet needed replacing as very worn. The bathroom towels needed replacing. They were quite hard and one had a hole in it. Our room needed a plug point nearer the mirror to enable you to dry your hair.

very good breakfasts and dinner
bathroom rather small

The receptionist who also doubled as the waiter at breakfast was excellent. Very welcoming with good attention to providing a high level of service.
The hotel location in the middle of the very attractive High Street is also very convenient.
Overall the hotel has a tired interior although the dining area has been refreshed and is fine.
Parking at the hotel itself is minimal, really only room for two cars. There is a lot of on street parking in Long Melford but it is only by chance that we were able to park relatively close to the hotel.

Food was excellent - both breakfast and dinner. Good location on the main street.
Room rather basic but adequate for a pub/hotel of this type.

Friendly & competent staff.
Location: walking access to Long Melford’s shops/antiques, easy on-street parking.
Food: interesting dinner menu (but not pretentious), well-cooked & presented, generous breakfast.
Rooms: separate block at rear so quiet & comfortable - but see downsides below
Good room facilities but NO WI-FI!!
Wi-fi is rubbish - urgently needs sorting. No internet access in Room 15 - had to go to main building & sit outside office to get any Wi-Fi. Lack of internet means we’re unlikely to stay again, unfortunately.
Rooms: inconvenient in separate block, up outside stairs at rear - have to go outside in winter to get breakfast/dinner.
Suggestion: buy glass tops for all room chests/tables - protects wood, value for money & saves waste!

The room I was in (7) was small but nice, my main complaint is that the mattress seemed worn and old, and it was boiling hot in the room, I tried turning the radiator down and opening the window but that didn't work. Having said this, I had dinner there one evening and the food was amazing, and all staff I met were so friendly and lovely
9.0 / 10.0
Breakfast, room and evening meals were all excellent. Staff were all friendly and we would have no hesitation in staying again.
As with most hotels, only one easy chair was provided in the room despite the fact that it would usually be occupied by 2 people
8.0 / 10.0
The staff were all very friendly and helpful, with quick and efficient service. They even popped a candle in my sister's roulade and sang happy birthday.
The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly seasoned. The bedroom itself was fine and the bed comfortable.
The carpark was tiny (though there was free parking on the road close by). The decor was a little tired and it would have been nice to have had the heating available as the nights were a little chilly. I think they were a bit short handed.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Had dinner twice at hotel and excellent both times.
Rooms need updating.
