not a lot. the few staff we met were very pleasant. The bed very comfortable.
A grand hotel LONG overdue for a complete remodelling. The £135 King Suite - was cold, slightly damp, poorly laid out, had a broken window covered with hardboard ( and mould) . No useable sockets, a large poorly designed bedroom - and ONE mug & a takeaway cardboard cup !!!! and finally the slowest lift in the world.

Nice character hotel, gorgeous setting for a wedding and events areas were very nice.
What let’s this hotel down, rooms and communal areas are in need of refurbishment. We arrived at 10:30am and there was no where to get something to eat.

The setting is beautiful, and the staff at the main reception and restaurant were very polite . The lounge had some lovely views and the beds were very comfortable, the room and bathroom were larger than expected - we choose the budget option twin room and expected a shoebox sized place, yet the room was spacious and had everything we needed. It was a very travel-able distance to the Burghley Horse Trials, which is what we came there for.
The breakfast was mediocre, not helped by the staff at the buffet who were young and inexperienced and not very helpful sadly (example; one morning the coffee/tea jugs were not plugged in, and when we pointed this out no one took ownership of trying to fix it/finding someone who could, and it took 15 minutes for them to find spoons for fruit/yoghurt). This was the case the first two mornings when the breakfast was presented in a large room on an entirely far hidden away section of the building (probably due to a wedding that was also happening), then the last morning it was back in the main hall and it was good and more like what we were expecting. Glass wear in the restaurant was not clean. The budget section of the house was under renovation - so it smelled incredibly damp/mouldy in one section, and very paint-like in the other, yet the room itself was fine. It felt a bit like they were doing renovations and were severely understaffed in the meantime - we are quite accepting of this but I can imagine this not being what some guests are looking for.

The hall itself the grounds it was fantastic
A better view had a small window had to climb a step to see ouy

looks the part but falls short, even the road leading to the hotel is full of potholes.
Attended a wedding that was chaos, management didn’t have a clue what was going on, real lack of leadership. Wasn’t the cleanest either. When we stayed the hotel was mainly full of refugees.

I didn’t like much I’m afraid, massively overrated.
The room, getting to the room, the lift is shocking, how do people get their luggage to the room is dreadful. The young staff you have is shocking, the couldn’t supply what they had on the menu for breakfast. I will not stay at this hotel ever.

Nothing it was appalling! He seems we didn’t stop , they haven’t refunded us either as we paid up front !!!!
Would never recommend
Everything

Great value for money but probably does need a little TLC. Menu in the restaurant was very limited.
The house and grounds were amazing.

Stoke Rochford Hall is in a beautiful location. The grounds are fabulous and well kept. But building itself needs a lot of maintenance inside and the rooms definitely need a new cleaner.
The building is in a fantastic location. And it's so quiet and beautiful.
3.4
Stunning surroundings, very accommodating

Very scenic
We was in the yard without the window Just a skylight of thought you couldn’t open for fresh air

Location and building were stunning. Bed was comfy. Can't comment on the dining facilities as I didn't eat there. It is currently undergoing renovations and I hope this carries on to the stables as well.
On arrival, no staff at reception for several minutes, when someone did come, there was no welcome, no apology for keeping me waiting, not even a smile. He pointed me back out the main building as my room was in the stable block, a short drive back. The shower was only tepid. Mould on the bedroom curtains which had to be closed as it was on ground floor with people walking past. Mismatched furniture and the wallpaper, which showed rows of books was actually upside down. When I checked out again, no pleasantries from the same person as the night before

As always had a very good 2 night stay. Stop in a mansion room. Very good breakfasts first day breakfast was served, second day was self service. A pleasure to stop in a grand mansion would definitely return
Certain area's such as breakfast area needed a good vacuuming of carpets
3.4
outside it was stunning
inside the property-the rooms- had to wait ages for checking in- the breakfast wasn’t the best, no options given to look at allergies etc-there were spiders in the bathroom and room, and it looked disabled inside but pictures were really nice
3.4
the gardens
the bath was filthy, we had a choice of 1 vegetarian dish, scampi or burger for our evening meal. we ordered a bottle of wine that didn’t arrive and then we asked for brown sauce at breakfast which arrived after we had finished.
3.4
The building outside and views were stunning . Breakfast was good
Room was tired , toilet wasn't very clean.
3.4
The grounds of the property were lovely to walk around.
Food was very nice.
Our room was a lovely size and very spacious including the bathroom en suite!
Price was good for the size of the room. I would come back if the property pulled itself up a bit more.
Nice and quiet.
We had a lovely view from our window to see surrounding green fields, tress and grazing sheep.
Property is rather tired and is in need of TLC, e.g. knocks and nicks in the walls, scuffed paint, old paint, parts of a room where furniture has been removed, holes not filled in etc.
Our bedroom and bathroom en suite had several bulbs not working.
Short hairs (possibly beard?) were left around bath taps and wash basin taps.
3.4
Location good
Room was full of cobwebs and dust, fan on ceiling caked in dust unable to use it.
3.4
The surroundings & gardens
No shampoo in room and smelt a bit damp in tge stable block
3.4
Bed was comfy and tea/coffee available in room.
I slipped over on the bathroom floor as it was soaking wet causing me to bang my head.
3.4
The building. Was great
location was good
Room, first one we were given the key for was in the courtyard. It was dim, smelt fusty and was not very clean. Bathroom sink tap was continuously running.
After complaining we were shown to a room on the top floor of the main building. It was a little better than the first, everything is quite tired and needs a lick of paint
Staff not very attentive
3.4
It is stunning from the outside. Staff were friendly.
- Rooms not very clean.
- Food- limited choice and took over an hour to arrive and was reheated.
- Driveway poor leading to damage of tyres.
3.4
All staff we had contact with where friendly, helpful and pleasant. The building and gardens are fabulously maintained
We found the bedroom disappointing. Could have been in any hotel, the opulence of the building was lost. Didn't find the cleanliness too good, a lot of dust along skirting board in bathroom and dust around the bed near the bedside table. The mantle is the breakfast room was also very dusty. Breakfast also disappointing, buffet style on the 2nd morning and the food was almost cold
3.4
No hot water, no soap, no shampoo, dirty carpet, room smelt of cigarette smoke, light did not work. Very very poor finish. Bathroom had no facilities TV had only 4 channels and handset no back with batteries falling out.Very disappointing
3.4
Beautiful location and building.
Dirty, room dusty, debris left from last guests - hair grips, clothes, dirty cup.
No basics like toiletries, hair dryer etc
Window propped up with a stick
3.4
beautiful property, friendly staff.
deluxe room definitely not deluxe. very rough. broken lampshade and broken glass ceiling light. big chips in the wall. pubic hair in the bath. the meal was terrible. only 3 main courses on the menu. my daughter had cheese pizza which came out very overdone. I had goats cheese crostini. had a big fat moth in it, still alive. they sent me a replacement and had obviously ran out of salad leaves and gave me stalks. I actually ended up poorly with food poisoning. apologies. quality. the stairs were filthy and un-vacuumed. some areas were very nice. such a shame for this magnificent building. needs some tlc. so many bulbs out, missing, not matching… Wall lights hanging off the wall.
3.4
location
nothing to complain
3.4
The lovely location, the Gardens and the external area
The staff, I have stayed here twice. The reception staff are really not helpful nor professional.
3.4
The bed was comfortable and the setting is beautiful.
The place is looking a bit tired all in all and the window in Mansion 3 rattled in the wind.
3.4
Value for money
Tricky to find. Sat nav sent us to wrong place
In need of paint and refresh in the part we were in. Internal doors very grubby
Resturant was closed

the look
property is in a bad state of disrepair!
3.4
The look of the outside
Place was disgusting. Had hords of people playing knock a door run on our room door from 5am and groups shouting about right outside the door. The place was filthy. Our bin hadn't been emptied. Was actually a horrible stay for my wedding night
