Our stay at Swinstead was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, Claire and John, the owners, went above and beyond to ensure all our needs were met and their thoughtfulness extended beyond providing a comfortable stay.
The lodge itself was absolutely charming, offering a cozy and comfortable atmosphere that made us feel at home. The attention to detail in every aspect of the accommodation was absolutely spot on, from the lovely decorated rooms, fun family games, great selection of books to the well-equipped kitchen, and beautiful garden.
They were gracious and accommodating, ensuring that our stay remained stress-free and enjoyable throughout.
Our stay in Swinstead was an absolute joy. We wholeheartedly give it a perfect 10-out-of-10 rating. Claire and John, thank you for creating such a welcoming and enjoyable space and for being outstanding hosts. We really loved our stay and hope to visit again in the future.

Hosts were extremely helpful, but discreet. The property is well equipped and comfortable. The garden is lovely and the views of the stars at night were superb. We walked from the door, and enjoyed a beer in the friendly pub garden. Pleasant visit to Grimsthorpe Castle made a nice day out.
Everything was great.

Rural location, so quite and calm.
noise levels between the upstairs bathroom and double bedroom - quite loud of someone went to the loo in the night!

The owners were lovely to deal with, with the added bonus of two doggies to visit! The cottage was spotless and comfortable. We took our elderly disabled father for a weekend break and they had made a bed up for him downstairs.

Fantastic location for an event at Irnham Hall. Friendly, helpful owners who could not do enough to ensure our stay was perfect. Little touches such as biscuits, chocolate, tea, milk etc was lovely. Beautiful towels, linens, soaps etc. Comfortable beds including the day bed in the family kitchen which was heavily used by my husband! I can not recommend this cottage enough!

Claire and John were kind and friendly and provided a thoughtful welcoming pack. We had hired the cottage for Christmas and they had taken a lot of care to decorate the cottage including an excellent Christmas tree. We cooked our Christmas dinner in the kitchen which had all of the facilities we needed. TV and internet were great and parking was on the property and just by the door which was ideal for us. Thanks for a great stay - we would definitely stay again if in the area.
Nothing really to criticise but perhaps worth mentioning that the main sleeping accomodation is upstairs although there is a flat couch/sleeping surface downstairs big enough for 1 person.

Loved absolutely everything about this little gem, stunning surroundings and made even better by the lovely hosts. We will definitely be back to visit.

I liked the set up of the whole house, and the fact that it had a bathroom upstairs and downstairs. Also loved the sitting room between both bedrooms which was very handy to relax in and lovely and warm. Various DVD’s to watch if preferred. Double bedroom is nice and spacious. Plenty of room to move around in the kitchen with all the necessities, and a nice big table to seat six people. Flowers were a lovely touch.
The owners were very helpful and friendly, and I felt I could approach them if needed.
We had our own bit of garden overlooking some nice views, also a barbecue area for those summer nights.
I would recommend this place if you are visiting the lovely surrounding areas, and there is a nice local pub within walking distance, and another two about 5 minutes drive away, which also has a shop open until 10pm every night.
If you have a very busy day, this is a peaceful area to come back to.
The tap in the downstairs shower room was hard to control and would probably be impossible for a child or an elderly/disabled person to use, but I am sure this will be rectified by the owners now that i have mentioned it.
Would prefer the microwave to be in the kitchen, but neither of these are big issues.
