Very quaint 16 bedroom hotel / pub. Comfortable bed and pillows. Spotless white sheets and bedding / towels. Hotel / room old but very clean. Nice and cozy, no shortage of hot water. Standard cooked breakfast choices. We didn't eat in the restaurant but had a lovely three course meal in the function room just before a "Motown" tribute evening. A three course meal was served to over a 100 people fairly quickly, all hot and very nice. Definitely go back again. Thankyou
Nothing to dislike.

Fish and chips were EXCELLENT.
Rooms are a little dated.

Beautiful and comfy room. Quaint outdoor area and a delicious breakfast.

Service was lovely, decor was traditional yet quirky and stylish. Hallie in particular was a delight. She was on the breakfast shift and provided outstanding service despite clearly working alone. Delicious espresso martini and coffees! Dog friendly, staff were lovely, food was great and it had a great atmosphere even on a Tuesday night!
The local area was bustling (again on a Tuesday/Wednesday) and the high street is lined with independent shops and cafes.
Dog friendly. Will definitely come again.
We stayed in the outhouse and it didn’t seem to have a secure internal locking mechanism. We felt perfectly safe but it would have enhanced our stay if we were able to lock the room with a bolt or key from the inside.

the location and history are delightful.
The staff were all without fault exceptionally friendly. The young man who checked us in went the extra mile constantly through our stay as did the older odd job man.
there were three things that jarred.
-the fan-cover in our room no 20 was filthy. Easily remedied by housekeeping but in failing to do so it gave an overall feeling of a dirty bathroom.
-there was a bulb missing in one of the bedside lamps. Again why doesn’t housekeeping check this before exiting the room. A 30 second job.
-Lastly, I think the management should create big pots or large planters to screen the car park from guests sitting on the terrace. It’s such an easy fix, a visit to the garden centre and a purchase of Portuguese Laurel bushes or something similar could rectify this.

It was easy reach of the wedding venue pekforton castle
The room only had 1 small window which didn’t stay open and it was quite warm.

The welcome and helpful staff especially as I have a disability and a service dog. There is dog walking nearby but still in the center of the town which was not just useful but very picturesque.
A hand rail at the end of the bath and an anti slip mat would be useful.

Great location in a lovely village. Great food and selection of beers and wines
Nothing major to complain about

The location was very good, and the bedroom was a decent size. Staff when we arrived around 5.30pm were amazing, couldn't do enough to help.
The room was ridiculously hot, down the side of one of the single beds was so dirty and the windows. There seems to be an issue with plumbing, lots of loud noise coming from the bathroom even when you don't have a tap on etc. It sounded like someone was drilling from 7am, and continued all morning. It must be when other guests had their bath/shower or tap on. This is a big problem problem if you want to stay away to just relax, we would have been better off at home.
The staff when checking out were rude. I would have told them about the stay and complained then instead of leaving a review, but nobody bothered to ask how our stay was. Just took the keys and walked off.

Room spotless. Large shower. Tea/coffee facilities high standard. Comfortable bed. Food excellent.
Small point but the main light switch operated not only the main light but the bedside lights as well. I wasn’t able to have a read with just the bedside light on.

Great location in a lovely village, friendly staff and very good food
The courtyard where our room was could get a little noisy at night time.

location, good and restaurant staff.
we normally love this property but there appears to be a new manager who doesn’t seem to do much and certainly does not really get involved. The staff were frazzled and the final straw was leaving the outside music on until 12.00 midnight!! when we went to ask them to turn it off the doors were locked and so we ended up standing in the car park shouting in hope they would hear!

We have stayed at this hotel for years. Whether staying there or just visiting to meet friends and family, it's the heart of the village - even though each year there's more competition for food and drink.
We were given the key for Room 8, on the first floor of the main building, next to the function room. This particular evening a Christmas party was being held. Not only was the noise in our bedroom unbearable, it was also situated opposite the toilets, so revellers were permanently outside our door in full party mode. It was in full swing until 1pm - we had three hours of this before we could sleep.
The following morning, after a waitress said "Oh gosh, you weren't in room 8 were you?" we asked to see the hotel manager, who then served us breakfast but didn't make himself known to us. After asking again, and seeking him out we were offered a rate on our next stay (which wasn't defined) instead of writing off our breakfast bill. However, I'm in no mind to stay there again. Our room was booked months in advance and I think it was a risk the hotel was prepared to make and I don't feel our complaints were addressed sufficiently. After the stay, I received an email to ask how the stay was, to which I replied and fed back. Sue responded and said someone would reach out and no one did, hence my review on here, (prompted by a third email from booking.com). It has been over 4 weeks since our stay.
