Perfect location for the high street .. great menus and perfect breakfast
Couldn’t lock the outside door at night
4.3
Very friendy and helpful staff. They found us a place to store our bicycles safely overnight. Good cooked breakfast, taking into account our dietary requests.
Nothing.
4.3
Lovely breakfast though you had to order the day before & state time. Large rooms, old fashioned decor (artex walls). Very comfy bed (enormous in deluxe room 2.) Good beer garden.
A couple of the towels looked like a dog had chewed them! Decor not up to the standard for price but Burford & area expensive.
4.3
The “full English” was disappointing and tasteless. As was the ham and eggs I misguidedly had at dinner. Ham: cold (though to be fair a lean and a generous portion). Eggs: had some fancy name on the menu, but were basically … fried eggs.
See above.

Nous avons été très bien accueillis

2. Enjoyable evening meal.
3. Hearty breakfast.
4. Great location.
Everything was okay.
4.3
Had a lovely 2 night stay, very hospitable host and staff were great, lovely pub with good beer and food selection, bed was very comfy and room was clean and tidy, breakfast was very nice.
Not really their fault but WiFi is terrible, we weren't particularly bothered, but I would think some people would.
4.3
Great location, lovely breakfast & staff couldn't have been more helpful. Room was spotlessly clean & tidy with everything I needed.
Bed would have been a little small for 2 & couldn't quite get the taps in bathroom sink to turn off.
Very minor issues.
4.3
Lovely included breakfast, delicious dinner, friendly staff, good accomodation, very central to town
4.3
We had an evening meal of two different pies plus seasonal veg. They were tasty (especially the chicken and leek pie, my husband’s beef brisket pie had very little gravy). It was all piping hot. Very good service.
Everything was good.
4.3
The lady owner was amazing and very attentive. Jeanette I believe her name was. The breakfast was amazing and the location was central but so peaceful

I loved to stay at the hotel, very clean and nice bed. The host and staff were so nice. The restaurant food is very good but a little bit expensive, but on taste, awesome. If I come back to the town I will definitely stay again no matter the price. Also, if you believe in ghost, you will have some company at the night in the room (I am sensible to this) but they are so chill so you're going to be ok. I enjoyed my stay there.

This is a pub with only two guest rooms, not a high end fancy hotel, which suited us perfectly. Relaxed environment, large, private room with its own entrance, The Royal Oak is right in the centre of Burford but still really quiet. The staff were all cheerful and attentive. Breakfast was exceptional and served in the residents’ bar by the guy who cooked it: he was great, efficient, friendly and an English breakfast master chef!
The decor is rather dated, but what can you expect at this price. It’s so much cheaper than all the other hotels we looked at in Burford. We loved it.
4.3
Very dated. Window sill loose, bathroom very dated. Very noisy in evening
Food poor
As above
4.3
Large selection of breakfast and large portions. Catered well for one party member who was gluten intolerant.
A large beam in the room but as one party is over average height we were aware of the problems. Can't be helped.

We arrived in time for lunch which was very good, we had a light supper in the evening and a beautifully presented full English breakfast. The room was comfortable particularly the bed!
Nothing

Excellent
Bed could have been comfortable but that might be just me but was very clean and that’s all that matters to me
4.3
Room was good size, meal in the pub was excellent and breakfast was also excellent. Value for money in an expensive location.
En-suite bathroom was 'tired'. Bed was somewhat soft for our taste.
4.3
Very friendly staff.
Lovely breakfast. Vegetarian breakfast available.
4.3
Bed was comfortable
Room very cold, bathroom even colder. Bathroom also very dated. Cooked breakfast very greasy. Room lighting poor.
4.3
La ubicación y el desayuno que es básico.
4.3
Staff very polite and helpful. Room was clean and tidy. car parking. Free wi-fi. good central location. Room access by external fire escape / steps.
disappointed. Evening meal I choose the steak & ale pie with seasonal vegetables. The pie was wonderful, vegetable's served was a spoonful of mashed potato, 6 pieces of broccoli, and gravy poured over. (no peas or carrots?) Wife had the hamburger classic, no coleslaw (as listed) and lettuce was slightly limp. The bun was slightly "well done". Breakfast was "1-1" serving. A piece of bacon, fried egg, tomato, sausage, and portion of baked beans (we left out the mushrooms) 1 x orange juice, 2 slices of toast for each person (brown / white bread) with butter. Selection of jam or marmalade. two cereals offered, I small jug of milk. 1 large jug of tea (or coffee offered) selection of packet sauces.

We loved staying in a building that was so old….beams in the bedroom!! Being able to have dinner in the pub then just walk upstairs was fantastic. The full English breakfast the next morning was superb. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful at all times.
Just a bit difficult to find space to put my case in the room as it’s one that opens right out, but I did manage.
4.3
Ideal location.
Good breakfast if you wanted a full english.
Large room, which was accessible at all times without having to go through the pub.
The heating in the room was linked to the pubs' central heating, which wasn't on. There was a heater in the bathroom and a small oil filled electric radiator in the room but we didn't leave that on all night,so woke up cold in the middle of the night.
The room smelt damp and there was black mould on the wall adjacent to the window.
We accidentally dislodged the cover over the shower drain and there was a lot of hair in the drain.
I think the price for the room is only achievable as the pub is in a busy tourist area.
4.3
Great location. Excellent breakfast but limited in timing. Comfy beds and cosy rooms. Bit of noise from window but not a huge issue.
4.3
Perfect location for the high street
4.3
Very good, well presented and served. Good service and choices.
Was above expectation.

We really enjoyed our two-night stay at the Royal Oak in Burford. The staff were very friendly and looked after us well. Breakfast (included in the price of the room) was very nice. On one of the evenings we also had a lovely dinner at the pub.
I am struggling to find anything - perhaps the bath towels in the rooms can do with being renewed.
4.3
Quirky place , really welcoming and friendly. Fabulous bar food, excellent full breakfast. Convenient area for onward journey to family wedding. Would recommend to anyone. Excellently priced.
Enjoyed our stay, and appreciated you kindness on our leaving time thankyou.
4.3
Our room was warm, quiet and cozy. Pub atmosphere was great and the food was consistently delicious. Our hosts went out of their way to accommodate us. Highly recommend.
4.3
Staff and the restaurant were absolutely superb.
I can not thank the staff enough for how we were looked after. They made me a packed breakfast as I had a very early start without any fuss.
4.3
Oldie worldly
Room was cold

We liked everything, the location, the food, the staff, the room

Location to the high street was good.
The rooms need upgrading stuck in the 80s, shower door didn't shut properly, the room was above the bar area of the pub which was so noisy at times it felt like they people were in our room. Hanging dust in the hall area between rooms and asked to keep main building door on the latch which meant it allowed the freezing night air into the building. I didn't feel welcome by some members of staff and to have to take the room key back the bar area when leaving is a joke. Why not leave in the actual door? No real parking for guests it seemed staff had priority over guests especially with parking a premium in Burford. Asked to give a time for breakfast as they only allowed 1 hour window and when we came down early the woman was rude saying we said 9 am not 8.30 am. She was soon told to stay in the kitchen by her husband as we could see even he thought she was over the top. I don't recommend staying here and their prices for food and drink are geared around the well off. I appreciate things have gone up in the world but really!

Everything was great Room, Food and Staff.just entrance to the room a bit daunting. Due to use of fire escape, but that could be due to our limitations and age. We will both hopefully stay there again. Everything else outstanding. Thanks Barbara and Ken Lambert.
4.3
4.3
The breakfast was perfect and served with style and grace.
WiFi was down and wasn't available for our stay, but the staff tried their best to make it work for us. We must applaud them for trying.
4.3
The room was ok, a little tatty, but perfectly comfortable. Location was excellent, near the High St and the free car park, church, shops, etc. The bed was fine, as was the bathroom. The heating was ok as were the pillows, mattress, towels, etc. The breakfast was fine. We were the only guests and it was a little basic, but perfectly adequate, quite reasonable quality and the single staff member who was up and about at 8.30 was efficient and cheerful.
The greeting was a bit perfunctory, "You'll have to move your car". But that was only one staff member. Others were helpful and efficient. It was all a bit basic, but I suppose the service and comfort matched the price. It was much cheaper than other hotels/pubs. And was perfectly adequate.
4.3
Very helpful and friendly hosts and staff
A good location and the room was very pleasant
The menu was fairly standard but there was very good attention to the quality of the food
The shower temperature was a little temperamental
