A really relaxing stay. The hotel is very charming and feels like old Japan. The staff was lovely and the private onsen was perfect! The meals were delicious and very generous. We really loved relaxing here and would definitely come back!
If you want quick access to the rest of Hakone is a bit of a bus ride but it’s part of what we loved about it because it made it more relaxing

Felt like a traditional Hakone Japanese Inn experience. Room was traditional- with floor beds set up as you had dinner. Quiet except for the waterfall. Dinner exceeded our expectations with quantity and flavour. Outdoor onsen was atmospheric
Described as a 4 star- I'd say its more a 3. We went for 1 night for the experience - which I'd recommend. 3 star because decor is a little old

The hot baths were great and the garden was lovely to walk through.
We weren’t made to feel welcome.

The room itself was nice albeit it had a bit of a 70s feeling like the rest of the buildings. The staff was really polite and nice and offered great service to us the whole time. The private onsen was nice - noting spectacular but it was the best part of the actual room experience.
Unfortunately the food, both dinner and breakfast, were huge disappointments to us. Not only the food was cold, even the parts that should’ve been warm, it lacked flavor and taste and was just bland compared to everything else we had during our four week trip around Japan.
The information provided about the services and the location is also misleading. There’s supposed to be a bar and a lounge but it hasn’t been open since 2019 and there really isn’t much else to do at the location than staying in your room. They have a drink menu you apparently can order to your room but the selection is quite limited and the instructions unclear (the staff didn’t mention about the drinks when I was asking why the bar is closed) so we had to go to the family mart nearby to get some snacks and drinks.
Also the actual bathroom of the room was in horrible condition with mold in seams and cracks on the tiles. We avoided using it and it looked like a health hazard.
There are better options in the same price range.

The room constantly smelled of fish/seaweed. I think because our room.was above the kitchen. When we got in it had the windows closed and a strong smell, but more came later from the outside, could not figure out how to get rid of it. We also didn't complain about it, maybe there was a fix

Meals and dining ambience were nice. The outdoor onsen was also good, but felt too hot on one of the nights. Couldn’t see how the water temperature was regulated. Rooms were large and comfortable. Staff were helpful.
Inconvenient location without a car

Location was great, very quiet :) The Standard rooms were spacious, but could use an update when it comes to the bathroom and the aircon. Dinner was very versatile. Yukata and Nightclothes were provided, as were beauty products. The staff was super friendly and helpful l.
Interior in the bathroom was a little outdated. Traditional breakfast was a lot of fish, which we wanted to try but turned out not to be our cup of tea. Dinner & Breakfast can’t be served in a standard room.

The location was quite more far than i have expected, but it also helped me enjoy the nature. The breakfast was awesome and the open air bath was incredible. I would definitely visit this place to enjoy the private open air bath again.
Everything was so amazing but The checkout time(10am) is quite earlier than expected.

The room was spacious, parking available right in front of the hotel, breakfast was really good - traditional Japanese style. Room was spacious, clean. They arranged the traditional Japanese futons for us, and the futon were put away during breakfast. We traveled with two small children. The hotel was very attentive by providing small slippers and bathroom amenity for kids. English instruction were given out the first day regarding the usage of the onsen, breakfast time etc.
We did not know that could not check in after 10 pm, as we landed late in Narita airport and had to drive 2-3 hours to the property. However, the staff reached out and waited for us.

The staff was very nice and friendly.
We enjoyed the amazing Japanese meals (breakfast and dinner) , very refined and delicate.
The room was nice and quiet and taking a bath in the Onsen was another highlight.
Nothing was disapointing, everything was just perfect.

The friendly and welcoming staff. As well as the clean venue, large rooms and beautiful public baths.
