About this house rental
We looked for years for this wonderful lake and house!!
Our lake front family home sits at the end of a quiet bay near Sunset Beach, known for its great fishing. Situated on the east side of Hayden Lake, our home is far enough away from town to feel rural and secluded yet close enough to Hayden and Coeur d’ Alene for convenient shopping for supplies at a variety of stores like Costco, Albertsons, or Wal-Mart.
The gentle slope from home down to the beach with west facing exposure means long summer days in the sun enjoying all the outdoor amenities our home has to offer including – private beach and boat dock, three kayaks, paddleboat, corn hole game, numerous inner tubes, beach chairs, outdoor fire pit, barbecue, picnic table, and outdoor shower.
Young children especially like playing down by the beach in our full-size dollhouse/clubhouse with two bunk beds inside.
We love lingering over evening meals on the expansive porch overlooking the lake and sunset beyond.
Inside amenities include Jacuzzi tub, Internet service, two TVs, DVD player, VHS player, ping-pong table, board games, and a large collection of books and puzzles.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a stainless steel oven, microwave, two refrigerators, toaster, coffee maker, and Kitchen Aid mixer.
Sleeping accommodations have flexibility with space for 8 -10 people. The master bedroom is on the entry-level with a king size bed and adjoining bathroom. Also on the entry-level is a den/office with desk, printer and scanner and pull out futon queen size bed.
The lower level of the house has two bedrooms each with queen size beds. The very large utility room is furnished with a trundle bed, additional futon, and washer and dryer. The downstairs den has a queen size pull out sleeper couch. The downstairs bathroom has two sinks and a tub shower. Just outside is an outdoor shower built at the forest edge.
Hayden Lake, with 40 miles of shoreline is free of crowds and has plenty of coves and inlets making it a great lake for waterskiing, jet skiing, sailing and fishing. It is shallow enough to be warm in the summer. For those of us who hate cold water, you can swim in the lake without a wet suit throughout the summer months.
Boats are available for rental at Hayden Marina on the lake. There are two public boat launch ramps. Honeysuckle Beach is at the southwest end of the lake and Sportsmen Access is at the northeast end of the lake.
Your dogs are welcome to join you on your vacation at our home for an additional fee.
Location:
The town of Hayden is 45 minutes by car due east from Spokane, Washington International Airport, a small comfortable airport with direct flights from many cities across the United States.
Coeur d’ Alene, a charming nearby city with its larger lake, historic main street, arts festivals, and great restaurants is about 30 minutes from our home.
This area of northern Idaho it is also known for over 50 great golf courses and Silverwood Amusement Park is about 45 minutes due north.
For winter fun, Schweitzer Mountain, Idaho’s foremost ski area is located about 1 ½ hours to the north just outside of Sandpoint, Idaho.
Please come and enjoy our wonderful home.

This place was perfect for our three families! Plenty of rooms so everyone has their own spaces, yet lots of areas for everyone to hang out together inside and out. The house was well stocked with everything you could need, and we enjoyed the many puzzles and water toys. The location is great too because it’s far enough away from town to feel remote but close enough to explore other areas such as Coeur d’Alene and Wallace. We loved it!

Family had a good time relaxing. Home was very comfortable, clean, pretty much all you need was available. I do suggest as the owners state, bring everything you think you may need then add some. It is a drive to the nearest store. We rented a pontoon boat and jet ski on different days and had a good time on the lake with these in addition to the kayak's and paddle boards that were available at the property. Thank you for the use of your home. Charlie and Family

The view from house was absolutely beautiful! I would agree with previous reviews that the house had almost everything needed for your stay. It was such a peaceful location and our first time to the Northeast. I will be back to the area for sure! Loved the kayaks!

Perfect getaway to relax and enjoy the beauty of Idaho. Definitely shop beforehand. While it's only a 9 mile drive to the house, it truly does take a half hour. Nice thing is, once you are there, there is no reason to leave.

Marvelous property, with great beach and views, plenty of parking, perfect for our multi-generational gathering. We'd go back in a heartbeat.
The owner might want to consider some tweaks to make it even better: fix the screen door to the upper deck, replace the non-closing kitchen trash can, remove the broken dining room arm chair, be a bit more generous with paper products (paper towels/TP) or edit listing to reflect "initial" or "limited" supply thereof.
More importantly, the listing or welcome material should mention Bob, the friendly or intrusive neighbor who claims to own the outdoor shower, have an access agreement to tap into the house's water supply, lets his dogs run wild with no attempt to clean up, and even tried to bum a beer off us. It was an awkward situation; a little knowledge would have empowered us to be a bit more decisive.

We had a nice time at this house for the week. The kitchen and house was STOCKED with everything imaginable. There’s a great game room that was really fun. Walk down to the beach was easy. The water toys were a blast. The A/C worked well (almost too well for the downstairs). Appliances were new. Honesty, the only thing missing would maybe be an umbrella on the deck and one on the dock. It was hard to get away from all the sun we were so lucky to have!!

Last week of June 2023 fantastic week with family. We love the location of this home. It has everything you need, very well stocked. Fishing was great and the beach and kayaks are amazing. Truly a gem in this wonderful place.

Perfect for our family reunion
We enjoyed a lovely week. The house was great and the lake was fun! Appreciated not having to rent kayaks & paddle boards. The inner tubes and floaties were great! The property manager was very helpful and responsive.

Our family enjoyed the peaceful cove, eagles soaring across the water, kayaking, paddle boarding, and beautiful woods.

Incredible location!
We had a wonderful time! The house was perfect & it’s location was excellent. My only complaint was that there was only one indoor shower. The outside shower was fabulous though. Super comfy home with all the fun toys you need on a lake. There was record breaking heat when we were there, but the A/C worked like a charm. Highly recommend this home!

When we walked through the doors we were blessed with the most spectacular view.
It was like coming home. The house layout is perfect. Everything works. Enough dishes fancy and regular for the dinners and lunches. The second refrigerator in the garage was a pleasant surprise. The lake toys were enjoyed almost everyday. The neighbors were nice and friendly, just like home. Thank you for the wonderful time.

Extraordinary vacation!
This house is the best we ever rented on the lake! It is great for all ages - younger kids enjoy sandy beach, teenagers did a lot of fishing kayaking and paddleboarding. Our 5 year old is a huge fan of Jim Carrey - we enjoyed so much watching "The Mask" again!
Neighbors are super nice - they even offered us to use their inflatable sofa for the boat fun, and gave us some dry wood for the campfire.
We even caught a pike for the first time from the dock! And of course, the sunsets are breathtaking.
We would like to book it again for our next summer vacation!

Nice place for a family to spend a week on the lake
A nice single-family home. Comfortable, roomy, without being over the top. Just right. Nice waterfront and private dock.

Wonderful family vacation at Hayden Lake
What a spectacular week and home. The property is larger and in even better condition than the photos show. We've rented in Hayden Lake before but this location is fantastic with its sandy beach, grassy area, and the fact that it gets sun for a majority of the day, all of which are rare in this area. The management and owners were terrific and quickly resolved just a couple of small questions we had. Also, while the property has 3 bedrooms, there is a 4th type of bedroom (den) with a closeable door and futons, and a large laundry room with two twin beds, so in reality there are 5 private sleeping areas, plus two large sofas (upstairs and downstairs). Since our party had many single adults, this was a perfect setup. The only slight issue we had was with wi-fi and cell service being slow, but even that was a fantastic break for all of us. The loons, geese, and hawks were beautiful to watch and listen to. The upstairs deck has a seating area for 7-8 but there were plenty of chairs for all of us to watch the sun rise (coffee) or sunset (wine). We are already talking to the owners and hoping to rent again next July. The house was very well furnished with lots of storage in the garage (as well as 2-car parking), although we did bring extra supplies (paper towels, etc.) This was a terrific property and location.

Breathtaking views
Our family loved it, view of the lake fantastic, loved having a boat dock with the house to fish from & rent a boat for storing it, we loved the kayaks & paddle boards, & tubes, that came with the house! We absolutely enjoyed our 10 day stay there!

Lakefront living.
Words are not adequate to describe the peace, tranquility and beauty of lakefront living on Hayden Lake. Our 28 days at this house included limit bass caught from the dock, 43 hrs logged on our boat, 50 miles of walking/hiking, porch dining and sunsets, championship golf, farmers markets and entertaining friends. Even caught a minor league baseball game in Spokane. The home is well appointed and includes many games, activities for all ages. I only wish I could have this home as my own. We will return again until we find the right home for ourselves. Thank you Jan and Rick.

We loved our visit. The house is amazing and exactly as pictured. The cove is very private. I highly recommend staying here.

We enjoyed every bit of our stay. The property was as-advertised and our stay over Labor Day and the following week made for a calm lake with relatively little other boat traffic. I love this lake - I grew up in the area and boated it regularly. One point of clarification for those considering it: during our stay (first week of Sept) the small bay serving this home was mostly grown with millweed, making swimming off the dock undesirable, though there was still a small clear sand area in front of the sand beach for our littlest children to swim. Housewares, beach toys, and kayaks provided by the homeowner included everything that we needed. AC works great and each room is surprisingly large. I would recommend bringing a powerboat to fully enjoy all that Hayden lake has to offer. It will be well guarded while moored at the dock in this small, protected bay. The internet is better suited for checking email and news than watching videos, or heavy bandwidth use. Hard to expect much better since you're located on the edge of National Forest that spans between this cabin and Montana. We would rent here again.

More than expected!!
I met the owners in my place of business where they were buying items for their lake house and they told me how the rent it out when they are not there. They were so passionate about it, we decided to rent it for a family event.
All I can say is WOW, the pictures do not show the complete beauty of the house or the property. It was the best rental house vacation we have ever had for all ages and some with disabilities. We had friends come from Spokane with their boats for the day and they fell in love with the place also, we will be coming back.

I was here with two other writers for a writing retreat for five days. The accommodations are spacious. The large individual rooms offer privacy, while the homey common rooms are great to share meals and stories. With spectacular views, we walked and hiked the many trails and roads around the lake. There is plenty of room for families. We kayaked one morning and enjoyed the calmness of the lake. It was a relaxing, picturesque place to unwind, enjoy scenery, and pursue a variety of activities. I would recommend it for families and other groups, large and small. We will definitely return.

A True Vacation
This home has more room and is even nicer than the pictures. Two families had plenty of room. We brought our boat and scooters and totally enjoyed our time. It was one of those rare times when I felt I got a true vacation. After boating around the whole lake, we felt that this location was among the best on the whole lake. All the little "extras" like the boat, kayak and floaties were a nice addition. The owners were very nice and communicated well.

Fantastic lake front home...
This home lived up to our expectations and beyond! Located in a serene little bay with lots of privacy. The paddle boat and kayak were a real kit with all of us....grandparents and adult children with grandkids! We also rented a ski boat from a company not on the lake, KJ Watersports and they were great.... Delivered the boat to the lake with all the gear that we requested. And then came to pick it up from the lake. Much more affordable than the marina rentals on the lake! The outdoor shower was awesome... Would love to go back every year but it is so far away from San Diego. Owners were very helpful with any questions we had. Highly recommend this beautiful home away from home!😊 All the other reviews were right on!!!

Relaxing, fun, and thoroughly enjoyable
My girlfriends and I gathered here from different parts of the county to reconnect and spend some time together after too many years of being apart. Rick and Jan were friendly and attentive in their email and phone conversations, and with this being my first VRBO experience, were patient and knowledgeable as they helped me through the process. When the first lady arrived ahead of the rest of us, she texted: "This place is so awesome! Hurry up!" She did not over-state in the least. The home was neat and unassuming from the road entrance, but then it went to amazing as soon as we walked in the door.
We loved the big & open living room, dining room, kitchen, and deck where we spent most of our time when we weren't on/in the lake or sunning/fishing on the grass and dock. We didn't even use the big living area downstairs! It was cloudy and drizzly during the mornings and afternoons except for one day, so we spent that day outside and in the water as long as possible. The water temp was okay even that early in the summer. We really enjoyed the kayak and peddle boat too! There are lawn chairs and tubes for using outside, and the afternoon on the lawn enjoying the sun and the lake and the easy conversation was just a little bit of what it's all about. And even on the chilly and slightly drizzly mornings, taking the kayak out on the calm, quiet water is a peaceful way to start the day and appreciate the beauty in life, which this property has in abundance. We also saw deer, heron, osprey, eagles, loons...
Everything that we needed was in the kitchen and we prepared some wonderful meals together. The gas fireplace was a bit of a challenge, but the caretaker and owners did everything they could to get it working as soon as possible. (A very minor ripple in paradise.) Everyone said they slept well except the gal who was in the far basement bedroom who said the bed wasn't comfy so she used the trundle mattress on the floor in there instead. The other two beds and even the bed in the laundry room were very comfortable though.
The only thing missing was a designated fire pit, but I wouldn't be surprised if one hasn't been put in by now. I was told that an outdoor shower was built right after we left and we all think that will be quite a bonus for the next time we visit. All in all this is a beautiful and welcoming home in an amazing setting. We enjoyed our stay even more than we anticipated, and it's unanimous that we want to return in 2016!

Mother nature at her best!
We arrived about 4:30 on Saturday evening, walked over the front threshold right into a scarlet sunset! It captured our breath and hearts. After quietly closing the front door, we were drawn to the window, where we stood for 30 minutes enjoying its beauty. It wasn't until the sunset had completely faded that we retrieved the luggage from the car. The rest of our stay was an extension of the sunset moment, peaking with a light snow flurry as we prepared to depart. Mother nature had sprinkled us with her powder sugar sweetness.
The home is well designed, accommodating both large and small groups. All necessary amenities were available. The owners are a pleasure to work with. Business transactions were easy and seamless. We frequent many vacation rentals throughout the country and this is by far the best.

Family memories
Fantastic! All the glowing comments in the other reviews are true. We skied/rode every day. The location on the lake is great. The cove is quiet and secluded. Our grandson caught his fist fish, off the dock. Excellent dock. A lawn to the water and beach at the house is rare, and much appreciate. Our granddaughter (age 3) was enamored with the play house, hosting tea parties for all of us. We watched osprey dive for fish in the cove, and carry them back to the nest. Lots of bird life- sights and sounds- at the house.
Since you are nine miles in by car, stock up at Costco, Safeway, etc in Hayden on your way in. The area is delightful, because everything is available in Hayden, but a short drive to the Lake, and you are in another world.
If you belong to a country club, arrange for reciprical privileges at HLCC. Excellent dining, indoors or out, friendly staff, and it's 10 minutes by boat to their docks.

Perfect Family Vacation
This was our second time staying at the Hayden Lake House and again it was perfect. There is plenty of room for everyone and all our possible needs were met. It is clear that much time and thought goes into making this place a wonderful place to stay. We appreciated the extra life jackets, beach toys and paddle boat. We had 5 kids with us (of all ages) and there was something for everyone to do. The bay is beautiful and we were able to watch wildlife from the upper deck and the beach. The kids found tadpoles and baby catfish and we watched the resident Great Blue Heron hunt daily. My two-year-old caught a fish! What an amazing experience! I highly recommend this property.

The Perfect Lake House
What an amazing vacation! We could not have found a more beautiful, restful spot for our family vacation. This home is just beautiful...even better than the photos. The owners were more than helpful with our questions. We opened the front door and were greeted with a gorgeous view of the lake. It was just perfect! The home was immaculate and extremely well appointed. The adults loved the deck and hammocks and the children enjoyed the kayak, paddle boat, and all of the floats. Even on a rainy day we were able to enjoy the views while staying inside and playing board games and ping pong. The owners have a stack of brochures for local attractions/restaurants and we found that The Porch Public House in Hayden had very good food and friendly service. I never sleep well before a race and this was the biggest I'd ever attempted but I slept like a log every night and was more than rested for my first IronMan. I can't recommend this property enough. It was the perfect choice for our family. We enjoyed every minute and were sad when it was time to head home.

Hayden Lake Vacation Home
We had a wonderful stay in this home. I would highly recommend it to anyone. We had younger children and teenagers and all were very satisfied. The access to the water is a gradual slope, which is nice with enough room to play and enjoy the bank. Everything is very well maitained and very clean. Having access to the paddle boat and kayak made it fun for all. If our future vacation plans work out to be in the area again, we'll definitely want to rent this home again.

A wonderful vacation
Three years ago my family went away to a lake in Colorado. We had two homes for 10 of us. It was a little squished. This time we all stayed together at this house on Hayden Lake and it was delightful. The house is large and spacious, the kitchen a delight to cook in. If you're not in the house upstairs or downstairs, you can hang out outside on the beach, the grass, or the dock OR you can swim or go out in a boat. It was a pleasure and a beautiful, quiet location.

Almost Heaven
My family came from several states, and we all met in Idaho to stay at this fabulous house on Hayden Lake. When we were growing up my family had a cabin in Lake Arrowhead, which was about 2 hours from our home. We spent every summer there and adored it. Ever since then we compare everything to Lake Arrowhead, and nothing has been able to match it. Until we got to here. The house is in a little cove so it feels private and it's safe to swim out a ways past the dock. The water feels totally delightful. There's a little paddle boat and kayak, so you can go tooling around out past the cove.
The house is beautiful, and has a wonderful deck where we ate all of our meals. There were 9 of us, and we were very comfortable. The kitchen is very modern, with all the appliance you need to cook and bake.
If you like adventure, we went on a gorgeous bike ride on a Rails to Trail ride. The trail was all old railroad, where all the tracks had been removed and made into a bike path. There were 10 tunnels, with no lights except for our bike lights. One of the tunnels was almost 2 miles long. Everyone in our family came along, and loved it.
I highly recommend staying at this house, you will be very glad you did.
