Location was excellent, staff was nice.
Very expensive bar prices for drinks, 2 pints of draughty Peroni for £11.70 is very high. Other bars in the area for similar drinks was £9.40.
The Breakfast would of been nice if cooked fresh
The Bacon overcooked, fried egg was hard & Sausage
Heavily over cooked and dark.

Location was excellent. Very central.
Room wasn’t very sound proof. We could hear conversations and movement from other residents.

Great property, awesome location and a wonderful set of real ales. A very cosy hotel with terrific features, a real stunner.
Nothing not to like.

The place was really nice and clean very friendly staff fantastic location for the city centre loved the real ale and the food overall a very nice place to stay
My wife and I stayed in room number 1 nice and clean wouldn’t advise anyone to stay in this room it has a macerator toilet which is very noisy if you switch the tap on have a shower even have a pee it makes such a a racket not good if you need to go to the toilet in the night

We have stayed here three times - unfortunately this trip wasn’t enjoyable
The staff member told me I hadn’t booked breakfast - which my booking states I had, and when is a checking out I saw our names on breakfast list. I was too embarrassed to say anything. The bathroom was dirty - shower had hair in and toilet still had remains of number two’s in it. Plug socket on bedside was coming away from wall.

Excellent location,staff attentive & informative.
Room clean & modern.
All good, could not find any negatives with hotel/pub.
4.2
Bed was comfortable, shower excellent. Our door was very difficult to open and close.
BUT being right next to the road, we found shouting late into night disturbing., and bottle bin emptying at 7am was very loud!
The food was definitely not up to standard - neither dinner or breakfast were worth the cost, sadly

Oldy worldly
At breakfast there were several items we didn’t want on our breakfast and nor did we want tea or coffee. We ordered two cokes. We saved them money and waste on items but the cokes cost us almost £8.

Excellent food for dinner and breakfast served by very friendly and efficient staff.
Exceptional building with loads of history
Micro brewery produces first class beers
Overnight parking was expensive but car park was near to the hotel and secure.

The location was ideal for a city centre stay - car park a 5-10 minute walk away. I thought the room decor was lovely whilst maintaining the traditional setting .
It would have been better to provide 2 pillows each - had a sore neck this morning but everything else was good

The room was exceptionally clean, a fantastic location and really well priced.

Good central location in chester
Our room wasn't inside the pub it was down the side street. It was very loud due to the age of the building, the door and windows were very thin so we heard everyone who walked past the door on the street, including the pub delivery lorry at about 5am. We were told that the steam from the shower would trigger the fire alarm in the room which made us wary to even have a shower. Also the kettle didn't work. I'm sure the rooms that are actually inside the pub are lovely but I didn't realise when booking the room that ours wasn't situated inside.

The pub was absolutely beautiful and staff all professional and friendly and will bend over backwards to your every need. It was spotless, beautifully decorated ,spacious and welcoming. Food excellent, service excellent.
Myself and my two daugjhters loved everything

The character of the building and
the size of the room. Plenty of tea and coffee provided in the room along with good biscuits. Good location.
Noise at night, room a little chilly on arrival

Great location
Good a bit on the expensive side

Old British pub feel. Helpful staff. Comfy rooms
Took a while for us to work out the heating situation in our room. Signage to indicate how to turn radiator on would be helpful. Apart from that (and the fact that it’s a haunted pub haha) everything was fabulous!
4.2
Very welcoming Staff. Upgrade to a beautiful suite. Nice bar area. Lovely breakfast.
Nothing, everything was perfect.

Comfortable beds and excellent modern shower room in historic inn. Evening meal menu very good and food cooked to order. Plentiful cooked breakfast too. Great location as very close to theatre, cinemas and cathedral
There is no parking on site as historic city centre inn but ample 24 hour parking fairly close by at a reasonable cost.
As it is an ancient building the original staircase may be a challenge as very deep steps and lift not possible to install - a ground floor room may be available on request

Absolutely stunning old building right in the heart of old Chester. The staff are friendly and our room was very pretty and clean. The bed was very comfortable and the water pressure in the shower is good. The bar and restaurant on the ground floor is also very nice - good food and reasonably priced.
Lugging 4 big suitcases up some very old steep stairs. This might not be a great option for anyone with mobility issues.
