The pools & ocean were amazing. The buffet was exceptional
The place is to big a lot of walking by the time I officially knew the hotel it was time to leave. No AC in the lobby. Some staff not friendly & housekeeping was slow that we didn't have room cleaned at times cause it was late when they wanted to come. Also to far from airport.

Location was great, beautifully organized with tons of pools for kids and adults, sport activities for kids, entertainment through the day, very well organized. Food was always amazing, so many options and choices for every taste or special diets/restrictions. If you did not see anything on the daily options, you just had to ask. We did ask for se few things just a couple of times and everything was prepared within 10-15 min and delivered to your table.
They have great promotions all the time but the only thing that I think they have to do better is have the staff more prepared to deliver the information to the guests. I missed a 40% off on a massage from their SPA (Spa is amazing by the way) because the girl at the booking services failed to let us know upon the arrival that if you book a massage in the first 2 days you get that promotion. So when I went there morning of day three to book a massage for myself and my sister-in-law that came a day after us, I did not get the discount but she did (and that is how I found out there was a promotion). Over all thought amazing vacation. The kids had a blast

Beach
I visited with my family 7 times the hotel in the last 15 years, and definitively its quality was drastically downgraded while the nigh fare was almost double. The buffet food is quite basic and the same every night, the free watersports are barely not available to be used claiming the staff that should be neither any waves or wind to be allowed (conditions impossible to occur in the sea ...), the excellent singers and dancers’ shows were replaced by cheap Karaoke events led by the day time entertainment team, the towels set are randomly replaced missing every time either for hands or baths and the TVs are so obsolete that has no HDMI to connect a Chromecast or computer. In addition, it is quite ridiculous to pay the new tax fee to supposedly support the environment care and the hotel host a dolphinarium with tanks size definitely not suitable to live 4 animals. Last but not least, the reception staff has no clue how to handle reservation issues and the concierge team are useless to help too. In summary, I neither will come back to the hotel nor would recommend it again to friends and workmates I used to do. Hope this recommendation will help avoid wasting an expensive amount of money which value isn’t worth.

Very nice hotel and all inclusive package.
The coffee and desserts aren't particularly good, but there's plenty of variety to make up for it. The place is huge and there are no good signs or explanations of what can be done,

Ocean is suitable for swimming
Publick restrooms were always lack of paper towels, soap and obviously dirty. Room cleaning service is poor: we should ask for soap, shampoo, shower gel even when the dispensers obviously empty. We requested for body lotion which we never got. It was hard to reach front desk around 9 pm via phone, we ended up going there physically in order to request anything.

The staff was amazing. They were friendly and helpful. The food was really very good and the presentation was beautiful, especially for buffets. The sit-down restaurants we tried were excellent as well. The room was spacious enough for a family of 4 (with 2 almost grown kids). The pools and beach were gorgeous.

This was our first time at an all inclusive resort and it definitely didn't disappoint. The staff were amazing, the facilities were fantastic (awesome if you're travelling with kids) and the food was delicious (and plentiful!). I'd love to return again one day and stay longer.
The only thing that could be improved is the set up of the kids club. While the staff are fantastic and the activities were lots of fun, it wasn't available all day and you had to pre book for activities each morning which was a little clunky. There were also gaps of about 20 minutes between activities which meant you'd just relax and then have to collect the kids for a short break. It was still amazing to have access to a kids club, but I think it could have been done better.

The facility and location was awesome, beach was fabulous.
Staff are horrible, especially the front desk. Customer service is not their strength. We encounter many issues and talked to many staff from desk, housekeeping, maintenence, you name it they all acknowledge and act if action will happen. We came into a bathroom full of long black hair. Wife is brown/blonde. Took 2 days for action. Fridge didnt work, took until 6th day for them to replace it so I can enjoy first drink on 7th day when we were leaving. We asked daily. Last think, sad that all inclusive didn't have any aunthentic mexican food. Too Americanized. Sad. No menudo. Pozole, tamales. Tacos, real quesadillas, real tortillas. We came home last night and went straight to taco shop to get some Mexican food not available at this resort. This was our 7th trip to cancun, first at Barcelo. Again facility is amazing but sadly everything else lacked

Oversized pools, kids pool zone, convenient sanitation stations throughout resort, bar service, friendly servers, clean resort grounds, access to nearby resorts & their facilities,
U Spa, daily housekeeping, closet space and social distance protocols.
Didn't like that we were limited to the number of dinner reservations allowed to make at a time. In addition, they messed up on our dinner booking dates & when accommodated after complaining they sat our family to 2 separate tables each on opposite side of restaurant. Alexia in room service was not accommodating and rude because we did not have a card on file. Rather than assist me in trying to find solution, her response was basically oh well attitude. No friendly or professional customer service.
Food at buffet was the same daily. No snack bar available near poolside
No night entertainment or live music

The palace was great but if you don’t have kids coming with, you can’t miss the Riviera- adults only side! We upgraded…It is a Zen paradise with a free pass to every other resort. Beautiful sandy beech with infinity pools and delicious drinks!
Petty but important to me- if you want a fresh margarita - they won’t understand - closest I could get was a Margarita OTR without sweet and sour. Make sure you call the tequila, ask for extra lime and ask for it shaken.
BTW, bring an insulated Yeti or similar because the small plastic cups aren’t big enough and the heat melts the ice/frozen drinks immediately- they will fill your cup with whatever you order 😉
