Mould, terrible smell. Not suitable for families.

I liked the location. It was next to metro station and next to hotel were many restaurants. Room was quet.

There was nothing in this hostel that we liked.
When arriving at the property, I was first unpleasantly surprised by the smell of sewage in the corridor. The room was an even bigger shock.
Firstly, the room was not the one shown in the photos on the booking confirmation.
Secondly - there was a huge patch of mould in the room.
Third - walls are dirty, doors are scratched, and carpets are worn and spotty.
The booking confirmation indicated a large double bed, but in reality there were 2 single beds with separate mattresses.
The noises from 06:00 in the morning made it impossible for any of the family members, including the children, to sleep.
We arrived too late and couldn't find another hotel in the area, so we stayed there for 1 night.
We booked for 2 nights. We did not stay the second night. We met with the representative to discuss the situation and arrange a refund for the second night, but she just clapped her hands and said she couldn't promise us a refund.
I also wrote a written message but did not get any reply for 5 days.
We didn't get any money back.
The property representative was not particularly concerned by the bad feedback either.

The food was very good and the hotel was very clean
The building and facilities were a bit old, but nothing too extreme

this is my favourite place in Berlin. nice, clean and comfortable room with everything what you need. very good location. I highly recommended

Location is great.
Restaurant is old, traditional and loved by the locals - much recommended.
Value for money is great - this is more of a family-run hotel, so don't expect room-service or any other hotel amenities.
Room was clean, wi-fi was good, bed was comfortable.
Bathroom was rather small but hey.
If you want breakfast, you can get one right next to the hotel, several spots.

Clean, convenient location, pleasant service, overall - great value. The cattle was highly appreciated!
Thin walls - didn't bother us much as we're heavy sleepers, but would've been a problem for those more sensitive

The location cleanings
It was little disturbing because you heard the voice from tour neighbours living beside you

Really great location, clean, interesting old building.
the building was really old you could hear every step from the neighbor rooms.
I also didn’t like that the room had a carpet which didn’t seem clean

I stayed in hotel last night, the only thing I liked about it was the central location. Other than that bedsheets were smelly, everything is acceptable at some stage but cleanliness (especially in current situation where pandemics are following all around) shouldn't be compromised at any cost. If you think it's not manageable under current prices then increase the prices but provide proper clean bedsheets and pillows.

- Very good position close to U-bahn and S-Bahn, but not close to the centre or to the nightlife. Many restaurants close to the location. Ideal for the Congress centre City Cube.
-The staff was very helping with our many requests, flexible. Thanks a lot!
- Good price for the service offered.
- Good liberty of coming and going at any hour.
- The rooms were clean, even though there were some signs of use that did not affect the functioning of the facility, so no problems (i.e. cracks in the sink).
- There is nobody at the reception and no number to phone in case of emergency after 6pm. We had our keys locked inside one room by the cleaning lady and we had to wait for the next day for somebody to open the door. Luckily we were a big group of 10 people so we found an arrangement for the night. PLEASE PROVIDE A PHONE NUMBER FOR EMERGENCY WHERE GEUST CAN REACH YOU IN CASE OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS.

Cozy and comfortable room, although old building!
The bathroom was very clean
Easy to reach there by metro or busses.
Many restaurants around the hotel.
Old building and warm room (August)
No fridge, no air conditioning...
Price was high

Nice room and comfortable beds. Delicious breakfast.
Pretty narrow bathroom and it’s quite loud (noises from the street and restaurants)

Great location, just near Adenauer platz. I like the old style elevator.
No breakfast. Reception closes at 18:00.

The sheets and towels were clean.
The building is in terrible conditions and the floor is just unacceptable. I was in room 5 and in room 6 when they walk, it sounds like they're literally walking inside your head, (and I was using earplugs!!!), the creaking of the floor is a torture. I couldn't sleep. I went to the hotel for this one and only reason and couldn't sleep properly, since the neighbors were walking during the night (and they had the right to do so, they weren't noisy, the floor is just the worst floor I've ever seen). If they give you room 5, don't take it. It's an absolute nightmare.

The room was really clean and quiet; staff were very polite and tried to be friendly. I also liked the decoration in the hallway: there was a plush red carpet, some antique furniture, old-fashioned pictures and a completely over-the-top vase with flowers. It was a faded impression of old-world Eastern European luxury and I felt properly "de-paysé", i.e. in a completely different place during my vacation :)
A couple of safety issues: (1). The fire exit plan is out-of-date! The old route, that is shown on the plan, leads guests through the breakfast hall. Now the breakfast hall has been closed due to the Corona pandemic. So maybe the route is different because of the pandemic. I think it's understandable if the owners forgot, but it is an important issue, because a fire can be deadly. (2) If you have kids: make sure that you get a room where the water pipes in the shower have been insulated. (3) Less important, but irritating if you are a bit clumsy or not 1m80 tall: the metal fitting that holds the shower head was missing in my room, so I couldn´t adjust the height of the shower head (so hair my kept getting wet) and worse, the shower head fell on me a couple of times per day. This wasn´t an issue for my friend, because he's taller and not clumsy.
A final, minor issue: Communication was a bit wonky. I made a mistake when booking online: I booked until Sunday, although I should have booked until Saturday. I wanted to change the booking once I realised, four days before departure. Our contract said that I couldn´t get any money back if I changed the booking. So it's okay that I didn´t get any money back. But the receptionist told me that she couldn´t change the reservation, because I had over reserved over booking.com and that I should try to change the reservation over booking.com. So I did that and emailed the owner. But I got no answer within the entire week. And when I told the receptionist on the last day, she said "Oh yes, we got a request to change the booking, but it made no sense". So they ignored my message over booking.com, leaving me wondering what was happening. So, wonky communication. Not an issue in my case, but could be an issue for other customers if they have a justified claim.
