Absolutely loved it

Friendly staff. With in walking distance to all the sights . And we managed to get a parking spot at back of the premises

Stay in York 2024

The proximity to York and the five minute walk to shops etc. it is possible to park around the back for £15 a day so that's a bonus in York.

My room looked tired it was very dark, I was in a room at the front facing onto the main road, and I was unable to sleep because of constant traffic noise, I cut my stay short to go home for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was very average, no wow factor at all, and the hotel did not have a lounge or good bar, which was very small and not well stocked. The hotel decor needs a facelift, it's not welcoming when you arrive. The bathroom was nice but it needs a power shower, and the seals need replacing on the shower. I don't know what housekeeping is done, but my room was not serviced, ie bins not emptied,band once I had eaten my biscuits I didn't get any more.

Great little room

We got our own room on the back which was quiet and well heated. It poured it down when we were in York so we got back to our room and had a shower, then hung out clothes on the bathroom wall radiator. We then got into bed with some snacks and watched a film. It was a great night 👍

I don't think it was wheelchair accessible as there were some high steps to get out the back. This didn't affect us but something to note. There also wasn't any parking nearby available (it was the Viking festival) so we parked 25 mins away which was bad since it was pouring it down that night and we feed the parking machine.

Excellent location and good value for money

Superb location less than 5 minutes from Bootham Bar and the city walls (with the Minster also very close), excellent value for money ; the mews rooms around the back are very quiet (and very clean). Staff are friendly and helpful.

The bed was a little bit firm for our tastes (though that's subjective, of course), and breakfast could perhaps have used some fresh fruit.

The breakfast was very pleasant and good value for money; the location was very convenient; and they were very accommodating with regards to looking after our luggage after we had checked out.

The bedding wasn't the most comfortable and the duvet was a bit too heavy for the season.

The location was fantastic.

Our drains were not working very well in the bathroom. I forgot to mention when we checked out. Also, our shower door would not stay closed while showering.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The location is perfect, a very short walk into the city centre. Our room was clean and well maintained.

Great location for a stay in York

Location is great and the breakfast was delicious. Staff was always friendly and helpful.

My back didn't like the mattress very much, but that could be my age 😊

Very good

The staff were really friendly. The room was extremely clean- exceptionally so- and was warm and comfortable. There were tea and coffee making facilities, biscuits and bottles of water and a complementary bottle of prosecco!

fantastic stay we will be back.

it was extremely clean, Owners very polite and friendly. Very accommodating for my coeliac breakfast for me and my twin. the room was very modern, nice touches with the Prosecco, water and biscuits. Location was excellent right near the minister. I’ve stayed in York many a time and I would stay again. It was my first time staying here definitely not my last.

Nothing bad to say. Very nice property thank you for our comfortable stay.

Well located and very good guest house

Room at back meant quiet and so slept well. Excellent and clean room. Breakfasts and service very good indeed. Kept my case for collection later on check out day and was appreciated.

The ambient lighting in the room could be better- all or nothing and don’t like strong lighting on at the best of times. A desk or side table light would be of advantage.

Near to York’s tourist attractions and shopping.

It’s an old property and has retained that quaintness. Near enough to walk to the Shambles where there are a lot of food and boutiques. Can walk to Yorkminster too.

A bit far to get to the Rail station and with heavy suitcases you would need to get a taxi. The stairs are narrow so do be careful.
