This was a personal experience where you are cared for as family.

Breakfast and overall facilities
No elevator, gotta take a big luggage up the stairs by yourself. That’s the only painful thing. Other things were perfect.
4.3
Excellent rooms, friendly staff and a great location
Morning Onsen

Absolutely fantastic hosts, always willing to help beautiful breakfast. Best accommodation we have stayed with in Hakuba. Will definitely return.
4.3
Very nice landlady who was really helping with everything. Great breakfast, you can actually choose between Japanese and Western - both are great :)
4.3
Great location, friendly staff, large room and an onsen bath to enjoy.

This is the second time I have stayed here and can't wait to be back again next season.
Incredible location in the middle of Hakuba Village and the hosts are wonderful people who make excellent food.
This is not a list of negatives but I've gotta speak up about certain guests.
If you're arriving before check in time at 3pm you've gotta contact the hosts to make sure they know. As this is a family owned Inn it means they're usually either grocery shopping to prepare the delicious meals or are elsewhere maintaining the accommodation.
Also, it's not hard to follow the simple rules... one guest I witnessed walking out of the shared bathroom with no shoes... even though there is skippers provided for hygiene reasons... then the same guest was storming about inside the Ryokan with her outside shoes on... just plain rude.
If you wanna act the fool, go ahead and stick to the private equity owned soul less hotels that are near by.
Oomukou like every other Japanese owned inn deserves to be treated with respect.

Family wise at home in Hakuba nature, also delicious breakfast

The host was really helpful and welcoming! Very patient in communicating while the typhoon hitting and might affecting my journey. Overall stay was very well and homey.
Everything is good, no complain. If you don’t mind walking to JR station or taking bus to JR station.

The owner of the hotel was so kind to us and welcoming and accommodated our very last minute request very late at night. I cannot thank her enough for making us feel at home. The hotel is exceptionally clean and the breakfast will not disappoint.

We had room 210, very nice view of mountains and tree. Breakfast was very good. Wifi excellent. Location is good, in walking distance to Happo busstation (5 mins)and also to Habuka trainstation (15/20 mins). The friendly host speaks very good english.
The Japanese seats were lovely, but a bit hard to get up from with our old bones, Quite expensive compared to other ryokans we stayed in, but I think the whole town is a bit overpriced.

Staying at a Ryokan is a wonderful experience, great to know the Japanese traditional lifestyle. Our room was bigger here than anywhere else in Japan, with very comfortable beds and pillows, and great tatami area. The staff was amazingly kind, warm and helpful, and breakfast was delicious. About the location: walking distance to Happo one and to Happo station where we took the bus to other ski resorts. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back.
We did not have any problem with this but we believe future hosts should know: the showers for rooms with shared bathroom are also typical Japanese: they are separate for men and women, but two showers lie side to side with no visual separation.

the management is really friendly and helpful! place is comfortable and i will highly recommend it!
nothing.

Super clean and offers very delicious breakfast! The hostess is super polite and nice.

Staff was amazing and friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really good, the room was cozy and roomy, there's a little on-site onsen, it's super close to happo one and the happo bus terminal.
Common areas, including bathroom, were a bit cold, but honestly it would have been wasteful to keep them heated all the time.
4.3
- Staff are very helpful and lovely
- Discount ski passes are available (although it's the same discount as offered online)
- Basically next door to two ski rental places so it's super easy to get anything needed.
- The onsen was amazing, tho reading from other reviews it's clear non Japanese visitors don't seem to understand it's a public bath and not your own private healing pool
- Very central in Hakuba village, a short walk to Happo One Gondola but also around the corner from Car Park 3 where the shuttle bus will pick you up and take you to Sakka and other places like the ski school for kids. It is also a short walk to Hakuba bus station where buses direct to Shinjuku (Tokyo) Nagano Station (for the Shinkansen) can be caught.
- If you for some reason choose to eat elsewhere (the dinner and breakfast available are pretty great) it is also close to loads of the local restaurant, also next door to the clubhouse where every drunken Australian in Hakuba can be found on most nights.
-The Kotatsu in my room was amazing, even tho the Sanyo was older than I am it all did a great job at keep me warm as I slept on the awesome futon bed on tatami, a fairly authentic Japanese experience.
- Parking spaces are also available on site if you ask and book in advance.
- Can't wait to come back later this year.
- The Ryokan is technically two separated but connected buildings, the main area has traditional japanese style room with the dining area and shared toilets, and the annex is the newer looking building with rooms that have their own bathroom and is also where the ski locker, onsen and washing machines are located.
- Whilst there wasnt anything I didn't like, let me set a few tips to mitigate expectations.
- The public bath/onsen is a shared facility, especially if you are in one of the Japanese style rooms, if you've never been to one, read up on the etiquette as I noted a few non Japanese visitors make a few cultural faux pas.
- Same thing with wearing of shoes in doors and using of the slippers (indoor) and bathroom slippers, a French speaking family staying opposite me had a daughter who took the bathroom slippers up to their room... gross.

The breakfasts were amazing - a great start to our ski days. Western and Japanese options were both good. You won’t go hungry.
Staff were very friendly and went above and beyond.
Location was prime, well situated between Happo-one Bus Terminal and Happo-one ski lifts. 300m from the Bus Terminal, connecting to all Hakuba Valley Ski resorts. 500m to the nearest Happo-one ski lifts.
Discounted Happo-one day pass offered.
Small onsen which can be busy at the end of the ski day, but okay if you don’t mind sharing or waiting.

Location is only 5-10min walk from Happo Bus terminal. Easy walk with well lit streets. Decided to walk to Echoland for dinner which was only 20mins. Bus services to other parts of village can be caught at the bus terminal. Very friendly and polite people. Bathroom was a bit dated but very clean and comfortable. Good size room. Hot communal bath was average. Breakfast was nice and filling with choice of bread or rice. Open dining room with an array of breakfast beverages. Was able to store luggage there after checkout. Lady at front desk was very helpful ordering a taxi. Lovely service.
The hot baths to be presented more inviting.
4.3
Value for the money. Small family-run atmosphere.
Regarding the bathroom, the hot spring was hot but the bathroom was kind of cold.
4.3
walking distance to the Nakiyama lift of happo, bus stop and restaurants, great breakfast, really helpful staff and excellent value

Excellent breakfast served and just a couple minute walk to the ski slopes. Would stay here again!

The breakfast, hospitality and location are what makes this place so special. I’ve stayed here twice now and I can’t think of one negative thing. I love it here.
