About this house rental
vrKCV - Nakukui Ekolu, Professionally Managed by Kona Coast Vacations
Nakukui Ekolu at Kahakai Estates - The Piece of Mind Retreat
Do you need a vacation? Not just a trip, but an actual vacation? That is what you'll find at the Piece of Mind Retreat. If you wanted to, you could spend your entire vacation in this home - and enjoy every minute of it.
Any trip to Hawaii is about being outside - and that is what is the Piece of Mind Retreat is all about. It's like moving into your own private resort.
Start the day with a cup of coffee from the ocean view lanai. Wander the lush tropical garden and help yourself to whatever fruit is ripe at the moment - it could be bananas, mangos or lilikoi (passionfruit). Relax by your private pool in a lounge chair, or splash in the arched fountains. Take a break in the hammock before a game of volleyball on your private sand court. And end the day with s'mores around the firepit, watching another perfect Kona sunset.
Of course, at some point, you'll need to come inside, where you'll find a relaxed, open living area, including a fully equipped kitchen, dining table for 8 and a comfy couch and flat screen TV.
There are three bedrooms, each with a king bed/Cal King bed. The primary suite includes a bathroom with dual vanity, and separate tub and shower. This bedroom also has a flat screen TV, and direct access to the spacious backyard.
Located on the other side of the living area are two more bedrooms, one with a flat screen television, the other without - ideal for younger guests. Those two bedrooms share a full bath with combined tub and shower.
The home has central air conditioning, tiled floors, and a separate laundry room. You'll also have full access to the 2 car garage - in addition to 4 other private, off-street parking spaces, if needed.
The property is more than half an acre, so you'll have plenty of room to spread out. You will be in the pleasant, gated community of Kakahai Estates, so we do ask that your respect our shared neighbors and limit your outside noise between 9 pm and 8 am.
Need more outside space? Our home is located on the last street in Kakahai Estates, which means there is very little traffic. Just across the street from our cul-de-sac is the neighborhood park - great for tossing a Frisbee, running off some steam, or just taking in the views. The island's best snorkeling, beaches, restaurants, and shave ice are all within a 10-15 minute drive from your home-away-from home. And when it's time to tear yourself away, you'll be at the airport in just 20 minutes.
Our home was specifically chosen to provide a manageable sensory experience for our non-verbal, autistic son. If you will be traveling with a family member or friend with autism or similar sensory challenges, please visit our website at thepieceofmindretreat.com for more specific information.
Minimum night varies seasonally 5 - 10 nights. This is a No Pets, Non-Smoking Property. Please be aware that noise aware decibel warning devices are installed in this home. They do not record any conversation, but they do alert us if the noise levels exceed the residential limits in the area.

Highly reccomend this house. Great house and location in Kona! Pool was a big hit with the kids as well!

Lovely home and yard/pool. The house was in a wonderful neighborhood and had everything we need for a weeks stay. Plenty of room for our family of 6 to hang out. Not a far drive from Kona downtown area.

We were two senior couples. The house was perfect for our stay. Very clean, terrific backyard/pool area. Quiet neighborhood, a two-mile walk/ride to Kona. Property manager was very responsive/helpful. Would definitely stay again.

The home, pool, and grounds were even more beautiful than the pictures! Our family had a fabulous vacation in this amazing home. It’s stocked with everything you need for a wonderful vacation in paradise. We would absolutely stay here again!

We had a wonderful time at the house! It was a perfect space to come home to after a day in the sun. Sunsets from the backyard, swimming in your private pool and spreading out (unlike a hotel). The kitchen was stocked with tools, appliances, dishes, pans and pots (even an instant pot!) more than most rentals I’ve stayed at.
While we’ve typically spent time up in Waikoloa it was fun to explore Kona and the southern side of the coast. We will come back again.

From breakfast on the patio overlooking the ocean to the prime location, this home has all you could ask for. We hope to be able to return.

This place was perfect! Great location, close to everything. Quiet neighborhood. Pool was amazing. Had everything you could possibly need. David with Kona concierge was really helpful in suggesting and planning excursions for our family. Even came with a welcoming basket. View was great from the backyard. Beautiful grounds. Highly recommend this place. Would definitely come back again. Only thing I wish they had was more beach towels. Other than that, it was the perfect vacation home.

We enjoyed the pool and love the location. Minimal views compared to properties more mauka but overall a great stay.

This home and the property was the perfect place for our family visit to the island. The home was clean and spacious and had everything you’d need from towles to preparing home cooked meals/grilling if you didnt want to eat out every night. They also had snorkel gear and beach gear that was such a great additional plus for us. The property is amazing! The pool is large and clean, the volleyball net was so fun to have right there for a quick game. Location was perfect. Close to Kona downtown, and close to many restaurants, beaches, and easy access to get to/from anywhere in the island. The views both day and night were great. You can see the ocean from the backyard. The neighborhood is quiet and family friendly (if you’re a loud partier into the night-this may not be the place for you).
We will definitely stay here again when come to visit again. Many MAHALOS! 🌺☺️

Seriously, this place was amazing. The backyard was absolutely epic. We picked fresh star fruit and mangoes every day. We swam in the pool and loved the little shelf area with the beach chairs and umbrella.
Honestly, this place was perfect for my family of 5 including two young kids under 10. We had plenty of space and the location was close to everything from food to shopping. We also took several day trips to the other side of the island.
If you're looking for an epic place to vacation with your family, this is it!

What a beautiful house. The pool and grounds were amazing. The inside was great too but we didn't use it too much, lol! We were too bust in the pool, watching the sunset, hanging out by the fire-pit, watching the stars....Highly recommend this house to anyone. Everything was clean, well maintained and ready to use. The only thing I would suggest is a few more basics for cooking....like some oil and spices. Minor feedback. We had a great time!

We booked this property while celebrating my husband's 50th birthday. Us and In-laws stayed at the property, total 5 guests, and there was plenty of space in the home and yard to be confortable. We had other extended family come over for dinners and pool time who came to help us celebrate, even booking a group yoga class in the back lawn. It was amazing! Every detail was thought of so there wasn't a need for a rushed trip to the store for basic home needs after landing. It was a beautiful space everyone enjoyed. We appreciated that it was advertised honestly and were continually surprised at the thoughtful details like beach chairs, umbrellas, cooler and boogie board. Our kids surprised us with our 3 month old grandson and we were so delighted to find a pack-n-play in the garage to accomodate their visits. All around great value and experience! Great job and Mahalo!!

As expected. Beautiful property and amenities for four adults (elderly parents and adult children). The pictures don’t lie. Great secluded yet easily accessible location. We explored the entire island from this one hub.

This house was just perfect for our family. The back yard is set up with fun and relaxation in mind with the pool and volleyball court. The view of the sunset is priceless and when the clouds lift we could see the top of Mauna Loa. The house is set up great with space for us all - thank you for sharing it!

Paradise
We absolutely loved renting this house. The entire process was made smooth and easy due to property managers and concierge. The house itself was well set up for guests with towels, kitchen supplies, etc. The backyard is what truly sets this property apart. It is absolutely spectacular, a true oasis. My family absolutely loved having breakfast outside and plenty of space to unwind and relax at the end of each day. If we ever had the chance to return to Kona we will absolutely book here again!

We made a good choice with this property. I was traveling with my adult children and my grandchildren. We loved the pool - we were going to Kauai later so we didn't miss any beach time. The house was great too, but having the pool, for us was the highlight. The water was deep enough for games but not too deep, so the older kids could play without much supervision. I spent a lot of time and morning coffee drinking in the lounge chairs that were actually in the pool. Great idea! The water temp was perfect too. No matter where you chose to sit in the backyard, the view was beautiful, mountains on one side, ocean on the other. The house was clean, spacious and well-equipped. We did lots of cooking. This was a so-called once-in-a-lifetime trip. If I ever return, or my family does, we would want to stay here again. Absolutely loved our time there. Thanks so much, we made many memories.

Great Place for a Family
We had an absolute blast staying at this beautiful home. The check in process was easy, the house had everything we needed, and the outdoor space was used every day. I can't recommend staying here enough.

This home was comfortable and thoughtfully equipped with a large sectional, dining table, big screen TV and laundry. The air conditioning was pleasant and tile floors were cool underfoot which was great to come home to after a day of activities. The decor set a fun vacation vibe throughout. The well equipped kitchen was roomy and faced the pretty front yard and was steps away from the backyard. We enjoyed preparing meals there and also made use of the outdoor bbq. The house has a nice layout with the ensuite master bedroom on one side of the house separate from the other 2 bedrooms which made for nice separation during our downtime. The mattresses were all very comfortable. The first night we actually got a bit cool and needed extra blankets. Management was quick to respond when we called. We spent a lot of time outside, walking in the peaceful gated neighborhood, lounging by the pool and hanging out in the dining spaces. There are other homes nearby but it feels very private thanks to all of the landscaping. We all loved the pool baja shelf with chairs that faced toward the sunset. Perfect for cocktail hour! Every morning the birds would chirp and sing providing a lovely tropical ambiance. We would sit outside every morning with our coffee and the birds came in closer for a look and to eat any crumbs we left. One evening we saw a family of Francolin birds with little babies. It was such a beautiful and well maintained setting. There was a sand volley ball court and a hammock. Didn't try the volley ball but the hammock was nice. The vegetation around the yard was beautiful with plumeria , fruit trees and coconut palms. The pool was a very pleasant temperature and fairly even depth (maybe 4'?) throughout. There is no deep end. Great for swimming and wading. Lastly, the neighborhood is nicely located in a quiet area that is easy access to Kona and very family friendly. We walked to the farmer's market in Kona and bought some fruit and souvenirs. We ate out at Jackie Rey's just up the road and had a very good dinner and cocktails (Best Mai Tai I have ever had! and the Passion Flow was delicious like a dessert, Yum!) There are explicitly stated quiet hours starting at 9PM. For us that was perfect as we were typically asleep by then. It would not be good for those who like to party into the night. We would be happy to stay here again, we had a restful and memorable stay. Mahalo!

This was a pretty landscaped home and was conveniently located near Kona. Nice little view of the ocean from the back yard. The landscaping was really enjoyable and lovely to look at daily. The home had all supplies needed and clean and comfortable bedding and bath.
Exterior lights for eating outside were not working so would have enjoyed being able to use the outside porch chairs and table to spend more time outside. The solar lights did not work. Everything else was terrific! Nice quiet neighborhood, and easy to drive in and out with the security gate. Thank you! Kona Coast Mgmt and the Concierge service outstanding. We booked at least three family activities with David and he was excellent! Will do business again for sure!

Wonderful family vacation!
Really enjoyed our stay in this clean, comfortable, well-appointed home in Kailua Kona. The property managers were responsive and helpful. We had everything we needed for a fun and relaxing vacation, from kitchenware to beach toys. The pool was amazing (though we would have appreciated a pool heater on cooler days).

Perfect family vacation
We stayed with our two young daughters, and the house was just perfect. The pool and yard are unbelievably beautiful, and allowed us to be entertained and relaxed at home. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook some meals in (including an instant pot and food storage containers!). The beds and pillows were comfortable. Everything was spotless and well designed. We could not have been happier with our stay.

Overall it was a great stay. The only thing I didn't like was the day after we checked in, the landscapers came (which was totally fine) but there were there for over 8 hours so it basically ruined our day of being able to use the pool or enjoy any of the outside stuff they had there and they never reattached the hammock when they were done. I understand things needing to be kept up but we couldn't check in until 4pm and they came the very next morning at around 9am and we're there until we'll after 5pm.. it would have been better planning for them to come the day before we checked in or even the day of so we could actually use the things we paid for. The tree branches fell into the pool and all over the place and my husband had to go out there and clean the pool out afterwards so we could even use it. Other than that issue, everything else was good.

Amazing!!
This property was amazing and centrally located. We felt very safe in the gated community. The house had everything you’d need. We especially appreciated being able to do our laundry and having a cooler to take with us on those day trips. The highlight of the house is gotta be the pool. Our kids were in the pool at every chance they got! Thank you!
