About this house rental
American Pride in Jamaica Beach is located on a canal. No matter what season you’re planning on visiting the island, rest assured that you will catch up on some well deserved R & R. This comfortable home has an open floor plan for the fully equipped kitchen, dining and living areas.
If you are looking for super-casual at the water, American Pride is the home for you. This home has an easy living, bring your flip flops and board shorts kind of atmosphere. Nothing fancy - just good times and memories for the family trip to Galveston. This is the ""beach cabin"" you've been looking for - it's got character, but it's a house for guests who just want to go fishing, as American Pride even offers underwater fishing lights!
There are 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths that will accommodate up to 12 people. The Primary Bedroom has a King size bed and a private balcony overlooking the canal. As for the other bedrooms, one has a Queen, one bedroom has two twins, another bedroom has a Pyramid bunk and the other bedroom has 2 Double beds. The kitchen has extra amenities including a microwave, dishwasher, toaster & toaster oven. This home has a washer/dryer, iron & ironing board, central heat/air. There is Cable TV, DVD in the living room.

Monthly rentals are considered in the off-season - Winter Texans, snowbirds, retirees, corporate stays, medical professionals, university students and plant workers are welcome. Extended stays or monthly rentals require a stay of 30+ nights, and these reservations are tax exempt. This is an immediate savings of 15%! Although most extended stay reservations are between the middle of November through February, extended stays may be considered anytime between Labor Day and Memorial Day. We had a good time, plenty of room to spend time with the kid's and Grandkids.

The house is quite large. It is 5 bedrooms, 3 full bath. However, it does not look as good as the pictures online! Master suite is on third floor, as well as 5th bedroom with bunk beds. The stairs to master suite are a death trap. No way are they code compliant. Better be in decent shape to traverse these stairs! The entire house needs updating for the nightly rate required. The deck is in poor shape. Full of splinters! There's a reason for the sign"No bare feet on deck" The master shower is lacking as well as the furniture in the living room. The recliner is broken and the two couches are very broken down. On a final note, the main entry doors do not secure well. A stiff wind and they'll be open. Beware of this place!

The house was clean but one if the poorest homes we've rented. I wouldn't recommend this property at all it needs a lot of attention it's on the water but nothing was available to get in and out of the water the kitchen cupboards are laminated and their coming apart broken indoor recliner and the 3 chairs they have for outside are cracking. The desk has been painted but not the stairs or handrail the owners solution was to post a sign to wear shoes

House is great size for large family..Upstairs A/C was not working. It was repaired that night but should have been checked before renting..Furniture needs updating.Recliner is broken. Deck chairs cracked.House was very clean with nice linens.

The place was good for the amount of people. We liked the neighborhood. The house is a little run down and could use some updates but overall we would stay there again. The TVs were updated which we didn’t expect based on other reviews so that was nice. Good view.

This place is falsely advertised and pics are photoshopped.... all boards are coming off of deck, house smells terrible, carpet is disgusting, Ceiling fan hanging by electric wire... DO NOT RENT THIS HOUSE!!!

Although we enjoyed the location...house was clean...and the house could be a nice house if maintained - this house is in terrible shape. Nothing like what is advertised. Ceiling fan is hanging from ceiling(falling off). This was reported and nothing was done. Recliner is falling apart. Tubs have caulk smeared all around the joints. Pantry door is falling apart. Every ceiling fan in house shakes uncontrollably and makes a lot of noise. Some of the windows wont lock. Beds all need replacing. There are electrical issues on dock ( one cover rusting away and another plug appears to have caught fire at some point. The deck is very ruff and you must wear shoes at all times. We killed several big water bugs in house. There are DVD's but no player. There is a VCR but no tapes...Curtains are falling off walls (we fixed one) There were 11 of us - we have stayed in a lot of home rentals and this house by far is in the worst shape. We were charged a damage fee(non-refundable) yet we did NO DAMGAGE. I would think if everyone is charged this amount even when causing no damage that this place would be in perfect condition. We were appauled at the lack of maintenance on this house. I would have not rented this house for 1/2 what I paid for it had I known it was in such terrible shape. I am very curious where the non-refundable damage money goes? Not only will we never stay in this house again - because of the lack of maintenance we will never stay in any property managed by Ryson.

It would have been a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for having to plunge the upstairs shower for 15-20 minutes and pulling out a wad of hair, a bandaid, and the stiker yo a cigarette lighter just to get the shower to drain. Yes, there is a sign on the steps to wear your shoes while walking on the steps... but, they could send someone out to screw all the screws down and nail all the nails down. Other than that, it was in a great location. The neighbors were nice. Didn’t catch anything worth keeping on the canal. We loved it and so did our children! Overall a beautiful home and a great location! We will be back!

Great place, great location, and great stay!
We had such a wonderful time here. It is in an awesome location on the canal and about a 5 minute drive down the road to a great beach area. It comfortably slept 11 of us with room to spare. The layout is really great for groups and the main area is open and easy for everyone to hang out. Would definitely recommend it!
The only things to note for potential renters:
- the staircase up to 2 of the bedrooms is extremely steep. So if you have any issues with stairs, I would caution this.
- There is definitely remnants of water damage in the ceiling but we didn't have any issues of leaking during our stay so it might be a cosmetic thing only
- The place does not come with much in terms of necessities. We had to buy toilet paper on the first day because we ran out. We also had to bring trash bags, paper towels, salt & pepper, etc.

Leaks in Ceiling and MOLD
Upstairs toilet was leaking thru the living room ceiling when we arrived around noon. We shut off the water, cleaned up the mess and called the property manager. They said they would send a plumber. The next day at 10:30 I called them and they acted like it was the first they'd heard about the leak. The plumber came that afternoon. Upon checking out we were checking for belongings and noticed a nasty old leak in the ceiling of one of the closets. There was a lot of black mold on the Sheetrock and a large gaping hole. Someone tried paint over some of the mold growing around the hole but it was seeping thru. This indictated that they know about the issue but didn't care to fix it. Several of the people in our group complained of bad allergies during our stay and after finding this I believe it was the cause. There are lots of old stains on the downstairs ceiling from old leaks. There are also a lot of nail heads protruding in the decking that could Contacted the management company and let them know about the condition of the property and our disappointment. They refunded us 20% of the fee which I thought was insignificant considering the fact that they intentionally rented us a property that is in disrepair and possible a health hazard. I asked them if they fixed the issues so others wouldn't be exposed to the mold and they told me no, that the owners were coming down in a month to look at it. Unbelievable. We will never stay in a property managed by this company again. What's worse is Home Away won't let me post their name here and made me remove it from my review.

It's was really nice for the price
It rained the hole time we were there but the house was nice a couple tvs didn't work and a chair was broke when we arrived but our overall experience was good.
