Nothing

Worst experience ever after travelling more than 40 countries, Ripped off, extremely dirty and noisy, 10 strangers crowded in a common room without clean up, and keep moving us around and squeezed out more space to accommodate more people, no shower facility, no hot water, 1 toilet for the whole house, people stayed here were upset due to the extreme condition (including Japanese) but owner insisted their rent is cheap!!!!! Bookings.com please investigate if this accomodation is even licenced!

The staff is the nicest!! We were pretty late for the check in and got lost in the way to the destination, but the staff helped us when they saw us, and explained everything very clearly!

Disappointing

There were almost 14 peoples in the hostel and it just only one washroom & one shower room. It is not a reasonable portion for living.

Away from city life

Away from city life, near nature. A simple hut with basic facilities. Owner is so kind n invited to try deer meat. But I dare not.

No locker. One toilet for about 15 people.

Affordable and has what you need to spend the night and cook. The owners are very nice.

The house is old and the floor is squeaking. Little remote, we've been with rented car so it was ok for us and we just spent the night there.

Good location near Daisetsuzan and Biei. Flexible check in process and free parking which is very useful.

Exceptional

I really appreciate the hosts and the location of the hostel. I came here to have a rest in my trip who was for this moment to stressful for me and it was the PERFECT place for that. Fare away from cities, but near mountains and beautiful countryside. A lot of BEAUTIFUL Onsen around, you can enjoy this experience here. You can by food at the convenience store nearby the hostel like 3min by foot. The owners where AMAZING, really helpful and loving. I really enjoy our meetings, I really wish to see them again. There are doing so well with there hostel, if you need anything they are here for you. It's perfect to live an authentic experience. Peaceful and full of love 🌄🗻 I actually were abble to borrow a car with the help of the owner (for 5000yen for one day at this moment), so it allow me to go around and really enjoyed the beauty of the space around ! Perfect experience 🙏🤠 I would definitely come back the next time I'll come in Hokkaidō. No hesitation.

I didn't stay enough time I would like to stay more because I really enjoy my time there with them.

Authentic travelers guest house, nice stay!

The hosts are really kind and give you tons of information and inspiration for your trip. They take time to talk to you and even take you to plans with them. You can feel the authentic travelers and adventurous spirit in their guest house. I had a great time.

Excellent relaxed accommodation to explore regional Hokkaido

Highly recommend Totonou Guest House. We stayed for two weeks in this beautiful part of Hokkaido. The accommodation is very relaxed and an excellent home away from home to explore the quieter sides of the island. Ryuichi and Chiharu are excellent hosts, super lovely and friendly. You can ask them anything and they gave us so much local advice! The kitchen is great if you like to cook. It is also a good place for remote work, with a dedicated workspace and fast internet speed if needed. Other useful things… there is a train station and Seicomart close by and Ryuichi’s Mum and sister sell delicious onigiri two houses along!!! Thank you so much for our wonderful time, we hope we can come back soon!!!

Wonderful stay

I chose Totonou Place because it was surrounded by nature and looked nice in the pictures. The place was great indeed, clean, new, and quiet. The owner was super friendly. I didn't really know places other than Aoi Ike to go to, and he was kind to take me by car and show me around. In the evening we ate yakiniku together. And on the next day, he even took me by motorcycle to Aoi Ike and to a hot spring. I did some plowing for him in the morning in exchange, which also felt very nice as you don't usually do that on workdays. I would definitely recommend staying at Totonou Place. You will find nature such as mountains, mountain rivers, fields, woods, and stars at night, a great way to take a rest from the city hustle and bustle. And if you don't know anything, you can always rely on the owner. He knows lots of cool tips and is simply a great guy. Even if you are traveling alone, that would be a wonderful place to stay.

it’s a pleasant and fun stay

it’s a pleasant place to stay. the host is very friendly and accommodating. we had great fun together. if you are looking for a party place I highly recommend this. other guests who stayed with us were also friendly. overall a nice and memorable experience for all of us.
