Grand old place in need of a big clean, but absolutely phenomenal experience. The staff were fantastic; friendly and helpful. The dining room and food stations were unbelievable. A pianist was playing during dinner. It was amazing. Nice hot Onsen too. One was outside overlooking the ocean. Very special. I loved that I could have the window open. The room was so spacious and the view was incredible.

It is too far away from the parking lot to the hotel and the staff was not very helpful even though we had lots of baggage. Lots of self service but the view for fireworks was excellent

So enjoyable, love the fishing and ocean swim activities. Love the service of all staff. Kaiseiki dinner and breakfast is good. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HOTEL

Nice view, good spa and restaurant .
Children love to stay at hotel

The hotel is a remnant of the 80s. Rooms are very dated and even some areas feel spooky.

Very old and outdated property. The staff however were great and the buffet dinner was spectacular.

The bath is super nice! But you have to walk a lot to reach it. I won't reccomend to elderly people.

I stayed for 2 nights 3 days. This hotel is focused on group tour and for short stay as the choice of dinings are limited, menu at buffet are always the same so don’t expect too much about dining. This hotel is located a bit apart from the central Atami so you must have a car to go around.

The service is very good. The property itself looks old and tired. Value for money.

Excellent customer service, good food, nice French and Japanese meals provided daily during stay. Hotel is dated and need some facelift. Love the 3 on-site Onsens, saw an amazing sunrise on last day at hotel. Would come back to Hotel New Akao if going to Atami again.

Amazing property built on a cliff overlooking the ocean. Consists of two wings, the first is 17 floors and the second is an additional 12 floors above. Buffet with very tasty Japanese food! Onsen experience (public and private). Access to garden and ocean. We did paddle boarding with beautiful views of a cave. Highly recommend this property.

Wonderful experience.
Very few Westerners at the hotel and I have read reviews that it is too Japanese - that's why we loved it!
The onsens are incredible - a great variety - from small and quiet to busier with incredible views.
We booked half board and enjoyed incredible breakfasts, a wonderful kaiseki dinner, plus an extremely tasty French dinner with delicious steak - and bread (proper bread - which is rare in Japan).

Nice View and the staffs are very friendly. I like most about the grand dinner and breakfast the hotel served. When you reserve the hotel, make sure you buy the dinner plan. It will make a lot easier for guests and more time to spend your stay at the hotel. Also, The hotel also provide the shuttle bus between the train station and the hotel. There is a bus line running the whole day that stops at least 15 photo spot including the beach. You have to pay only Yen 250 ($2) for a ride. You can take off wherever you want and you can take on any bus stop. You have to pay again after you take off. My stay was very smooth and I even extended one more night since I can’t enough staying there.

The room I had was facing the water and was stunning. Both meals I had at the hotel were delicious. Even though I was staying solo I had a great window front table at breakfast!

I stayed one night at ACAO. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is clean with nice ocean view. Wake up seeing the sunrise is amazing. The outdoor hot spring is a must go. You won’t forget the view. I’ll definitely come back again when I visit Atami.

We had a terrific experience, and while the rooms were a bit expensive, they were absolutely worth the price.
And the view is incredible.
Will be visiting again.

This place is amazing, the onsen has the best view ever. Rooms were very clean and spacious for Japanese hotels. The hotel has lots of artworks on walls so don't miss that out!

The location is good, on the sea side and with a great view
The staff are polite and helpful. However there is only one staff that can speak English
The dinner included is bad, the worst I have ever had among all Japanese hot spring hotel that I have ever visited
The paid hot spring is totally not worth it, expensive(4200 yen one hour), doesn’t feel like real hot spring, the interior is just normal bathrooms
4.0
Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and spacious. However, the hotel is showing its age, and is expensive for the price. The food was good, but they ran out of seats at the Japanese restaurant (dinner was included) and had no choice but to eat the French meal course. Not the first choice, but the food was still good. The location has nothing around, but they have a shuttle from the hotel to Atami Station, which was very helpful. However, not much space for luggage. Lastly, the morning sunrise was amazing which made it worth it!!
