Fantastic peaceful hotel at the top of Kinosaki. The staff were very helpful and the ryokan was lovely. I was helped on how to wear yukata, use the onsen’s and book a private one at the ryokan. The Japanese bed was very comfortable. The Japanese breakfast was great. I had an explanation of what it was, what it went with and a print out in English of what I had been given. My room was at the back over looking the beautiful hillside gardens, which were lit up in the evening. The ryokan is a 1 minute walk from the top of where the Main Street starts and about 3mins to the closest public onsen. The walk to the last is 20mins. It is about 3mins to the ropeway up the hill to the temple and the path if you want to walk. I really enjoyed my stay.

Fantastic place, friendly staff, faboulus dinner.
Could have had a more cosy and accessible bar to sit and relax in between baths and after dinner. Would be more cozy with one large mattres instead of two small that drifted apart during night.

Oh my goodness, Yuraku was all we ever hoped for and more.
Having lived in Japan before, I kind of expected all the pleasures of a ryokan but this property exceeded everything.
The room was lovely with a stunning view into the Japanese garden build into a tree lined hillside.
The ryokan has a traditional feel to it with lovely wooden structures, tasteful but not overbearing decorations and private and public baths which guests could use in addition to free entry to the towns public hot spring bath houses for which it is famous.
The food was fantastic. We had Japanese breakfast on both days of our stay and dinner on one evening.
In addition, the service and facilities were great and the staff was wonderful - friendly and discreet.
I will recommend this place to all friends who travel to the Kyoto area as an antidote to the hassle and bustle of big city life. Beware that the town itself is quite touristy and can be crowded at times. But as soon as you enter Yuraku ryokan, which is slightly set back from the main streets, you will find yourself in a haven of peace.
Strongly recommended!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff, offering pick up and drop off at the station even outside usual working hours. Absolutely stunning garden as well. Also located closer to the best onsens in the town, so very convenient!

The staff were so welcoming and the flower bath was really relaxing.

Exceptionnal service.
No shower in the room. But this the point of onsen-hotel-ryokan ;).
4.5
The staff were incredibly attentive, helpful and friendly. Their private baths, breakfasts, yukatas and general service were all great. Also they had the most comfortable futons I’ve ever slept on.
It is a little bit of a walk from the busier parts of town that have a higher concentration of onsen. This wouldn’t be a problem ordinarily, but it was quite cold when we were staying there, and walking back in the cold was not very fun.

Family run business with a great attitude.

nice public and private bath facilities. Friendly staff. nice little as souvenir shop. Pretty back yard walking area. It is further away than other Ryokans in the area, but I like that.
No coffee milk vending machines around the bath area. Other than that, perfect.
