What a beautiful hotel! It was our first time in Chicago and boy this hotel was perfect!!

Our room 717 was so uncomfortably hot we couldn’t sleep. Mind you we didn’t ask for service we just dealt with it so they maybe could have done something. Thermostat was all the way down to 65 and fan on high and we slept with cold towels on us and still couldn’t sleep. This room had drywall mud in the bathroom but overall the room was clean. The rooftop is amazing and food was excellent. Could have sworn the site mentioned a hot tub and when we got there there was not one.

Waited for valet about 20 minutes all the while calling the hotel to speak to a live person to avoid having to leave the car unattended parked illegally on a narrow street. Finally I front desk answered and said to be patient valet was busy and he should be there soon. 15 more minutes went by and I just went in. Only to be told after checking in that valet was no longer taking cars and to try next door at hotel Felix who told me the same thing ! Then was told we could walk a couple blocks to a garage and walk over. Hubby recovering from leg injury so that option was out. So Valeria at the Godfrey thankfully cancelled our stay and we just drove the hour home and told me to reach out to hotels.com for a refund which they would grant given tonight’s crazy circumstances . Hotels.com is still working this out since when they called the hotel Valeria wasn’t available and there were no notes left behind for the staff and manager to work this out. So now we are getting the run around from the Godfrey as hotels.com is working on my behalf to get this refund granted. So beware if you aren’t checking in right at 4pm there is a huge chance this hotel may run out valet spots for your vehicle. I can’t imagine if we would’ve had our small kids with us and couldn’t drive home.

The window to look outside had a huge beam running diagonally across it. Couldn’t look outside. The bathroom window, which was behind another beam, didn’t allow us to look outside and there was no covering on it. The closet only had a handful of hangers and no dresser to put the rest of our close. We had to live out of our suitcases. The tv channel selection sucked and it had no smart tv. To say I was disappointed is an understatement.

The hotel is conveniently located. It has the basic necessities but there is no bellhop for luggage.

We have stayed at this location several times in the past and our only complaints are that the ice machine was not working on our floor, there is only one robe in our room and the adjoining restaurant is now closed. We do plan on staying here again.

Overall decent trip at this hotel. Only issue was on Saturday I had asked the the front desk at around 10:30AM for room service to come clean and swap our towels and linens. We arrived back at 4:30PM nothing was done. Then around 5:00PM the maid came and said we either let her come clean now or she will be going home for the evening. We just took the towels since we wanted to rest a little in our room. For the Godfrey brand this was slightly disappointing. Felt like we were staying at a lower brand hotel and this gym was very subpar. Edwin was very polite at the front desk.

There was no hand soap and when I tried to call down for some, the phone was broken. Couldn’t even call front desk. And the bed had a ginormous deep hole in the middle of the bed. It was the most uncomfortable sleep ever.

Staff was not very friendly both in check in and out. Also, the bar and restaurant staff rude as can be! Found out that even though the have a bar and restaurant you just cant go there for a drink. One they ent it out for private events so closed off. You have get ID to go to the bar and use a separate elevator. Bar staff not friendly had to really beg to take our order then he over charged us, i believe Rory. Then would not come back and ignored us to correct it. Then gave a lame excuse. Patio closes early and guard was rude in asking us to leave. Just left us feeling horrible about staying there

I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Godfrey Hotel, and it was a major disappointment from the start. Despite paying $879 for two nights, the quality of the stay was far from what one would expect at this price point. The cost is not a concern for me; I am willing to pay for a high-quality experience. What matters most is having an exceptional and enjoyable time.
Upon arriving, we immediately noticed several issues in our room. The toilet seat was completely off, the phone was non-functional, the towel rack was off its hinges, and the coffee machine was broken. As someone with many years of experience in the hospitality industry, I understand that things can go wrong, but the sheer number of problems we encountered was unacceptable.
The only highlight of our stay was the service at the bar upstairs. However, even this was marred by the fact that we were stopped and asked for wristbands, despite being guests with room keys. We had to go all the way back downstairs to get the wristbands before being allowed entry. For the price we paid, I expected five-star service, but sadly, it felt more like staying at a budget motel. This experience has shown me that price does not equate to quality, and I will not be booking at the Godfrey Hotel again.

I booked this hotel for the amazing rooftop and location. I was very pleased with the room and the location. We walked to the magnificent mile and a few close restaurants. I was a little confused when we were told the hotel guests needed reservations to access the rooftop bar. There was an event going on, but the rooftop is very large. We were able to walk up the 2nd night .

This hotel is at a great location and is a nice walk (a few blocks) to the Riverwalk and Michigan mile. It's a block or so from the Hard Rock Cafe and a McDonalds, the Starbucks Reserve (the biggest in the world) and cute little shops, cafes and restaurants. Uber Eats delivers from all over in very little time so it was a great place to stay. The outdoor balcony bar area is beautiful too!

To the rooftop bar were extremely discourteous. We spent about 3k because we had a large group on Friday night.
He Aggressively askedfor an I.D. ( even though we’re in our 60’s )
And we were going to go up a second night but I was wearing a cap which we rudely found out was not allowed and the guy basically demanded we go back to our room to get rid of the hat.
Instead we decided to take our business elsewhere. It’s not the policy that was the problem it was the delivery of the message.

When we checked in we were early. We were told we would receive a phone call when our room was ready- that did not happen. We also booked a handicapped room by mistake- we were able to change rooms with the help of Valaria- she was so helpful and gracious

Walking distance to River North and all the dining and shopping. Loved this hotel and the location. Adorable design and super clean. The rooftop bar was a plus. Such a great way to end the nights!!!

The bar/restaurant on the 4th floor was very good and atmosphere was terrific. We loved that there was a separate space for the bedroom and living room area.
The noise level was a bit high but that seems to be the case with most hotels in the city. We works definitely book here again.

The rooftop closes at midnight and they will start to kick you out for 11:45pm and will not allow you to chill. You will have to return to your room or go to another bar.
