Everything, this was a paradise in Hakone
4.5
Nice, new and clean, located very close to the station
I wish we stayed longer , very good dry sauna and onsen
The food ( we had Kaiseki dinner) was amazing
Expensive but worth it
A little bit confused about restaurants and also none of the instructions in our room were in English , only Japanese but those are very minor issues

Location was about a block away from Gora station. Very easy travel to different attractions of Hakone. Our room was quiet, clean, and tidy, and the service was phenomenal. We knew breakfast and dinner were included but did not expect a nice fine-dining experience in a private room inside the on-premise restaurant.
If anything, the room we had didn't have a great view of the mountain. Most of it was blocked by a few tall trees. However, it is not really a concern as it might be for privacy reasons. Also, Karaku wasn't the cheapest option, but the experience was definitely worth it.

The hotel is stunning, and the room we had was amazing .. we stayed in the Japanese West wing. The room contained four different pairs of footwear and so many gadgets, sadly more than we could take advantage of.
We dressed in traditional garments for meals and enjoyed the hot spring bath.
We could not fault the room, the staff or the quality of the exceptional food experience.
Everyone was wonderful.
When we booked, we would have benefited from recognising that this was a spa hotel, not just a hotel. Perhaps that was our fault.
However, we could have been asked about the times for our meals as this was important to the hotel on arrival. They wanted us to eat at 5:30pm as this was the only available slot, and we said no .. it was an issue that they eventually resolved.
But when we did arrive for dinner, we were placed in a private small room for just the two of us rather than in the main restaurant. Not good enough.
Checking in was a drawn-out experience; we did not realise that this is what they do and would benefit guests in advance to understand the process the hotel wishes to follow. We were asked to sit whilst they came and spoke to us and helped us check-in, but given our limited time in Japan, an hour to get to our room was more than excessive.

Great location and nice private baths. The bath in the room was a plus. The rooms were nice and spacious and clean with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We loved the kimonos and pjs provided. Japanese dinner was good, service was perfect. The coffee and snack lounge was a nice touch. Staff provide great service and are very helpful.
The air conditioning seemed to not work during the night. The room got extremely hot and made for a restless night. The Japanese breakfast was not to our liking, we are not accustomed to so much fish in the morning.

KARAKU is over the top. 5 stars!!!
4.5
Spacious, clean, and calming.
Guests with tattoos not permitted in the main baths, even though it's a private hotel.

The staff were very helpful. My partner had some dietary issues and they were able to accommodate her even though they informed with short notice.
The bathroom was a little small, especially when you consider it is used frequently due to the private onsen. Could be improved by a couple of high level shelves to set wash bags on. This is minor.
