I don’t often write reviews, especially negative ones, but I want to give a warning. Do not go to this resort and expect a luxury experience, or one akin to other JW Marriott’s, on a holiday week. Perhaps due to the fact that it was the week of Thanksgiving, but the resort was 90% families with young kids and the customer service was overwhelmed/inconsistent at best. I love kids and expected it would be family friendly; we left our kids at home to have a few relaxing days away at a luxury resort. But it felt like we were at a Disneyworld hotel. I got plowed over by kids, awaken by screaming babies, and hit with balls from kids playing catch. The pool was unswimmable— it was impossible to find a corner you wouldn’t be splashed or kicked. If you didn’t get to the pool at 7 am and line up, you didn’t get a chair. Families were claiming them and not giving them up all day. Cabanas cost $500 to rent which wasn’t feasible. The beach was similar. I’m pregnant and just wanted to relax in a pool. At one point I felt close to tears that we spent all this money and couldn’t find a peaceful corner of luxury at the whole resort. We had poor service at all of the restaurants we went to on property— Quinns, Maia, and Tesoro (particularly bad). The valet was chaotic and check-in was a disaster. Whenever we were expressed our concerns we were just told “sorry.” We did have good spa services but the spa pool was freezing and there was nearby construction. The room was a bit run-down too.

Great place overall. The staff is great, very attentive. Rooms are older, but clean and everything worked for us. Beds were comfortable.
