The Madrone Cabin is part of Hull Mt. Cabins in Northern California.
Off the grid, clean and cozy cabin in the woods
20 min. from the Lake Pillsbury Shoreline and Eel River.
This unique area is surrounded by 1 million acres of Mendocino National Forest. You’ll love this spot if you're looking for an escape from the phone, traffic and noise pollution of the everyday life.
Cabin perfect for a couple of outdoor enthusiasts
The space
The journey to cabins ends with an hour long dirt road. Please note:
WINTER ROAD COND>
*****YOU MUST HAVE VERY RELIABLE CAR WITH TIRES IN GOOD CONDITION and some CLEARANCE FROM JANUARY THRU MARCH.
AWD or 4WD HIGHLY recommended but not mandatory.
The cabin rests on 40 acres of private land in the gated community of Lake Pillsbury Ranch.
The cabin has a full size bed for couples. A beautiful wood stove
(recently restored), with 2 reading chairs for cozying up to fire. Stocked with firewood(FALL - SPRING). A nice sized bathroom with stall shower, sink, vanity and toilet. Linens, soap, and T.P. provided. Plenty of closet and dresser space for your belongings. Beautiful hardwood floors and multiple windows.
The deck has a great mini-weber (propane, 1 canister included). Nice outdoor table and seating alongside the BBQ.
The Co-op kitchen Facilities included steps away. Co-op provides all kitchen necessities to prepare food with plus table for 4 ppl to dine on.
We have 5 cabins on property that we rent out. Cabins are not are too close to the other but within earshot. The Madrone is close to an unoccupied cabin on one side but will not be worked on while guests are present.
We only offer the grounds and property to guests listed on the reservation. If you show up with extra guests we will have to turn you away. Also, must have prior knowledge if you are bringing a pet with you.
Guest access
Very mellow peaceful grounds to relax in. Either on your deck or roaming around the property. Well shaded during summer heat. We have a hammock for catching up on some reading. Below the cabins rests a private field for top notch stargazing/ sun gazing or fetch with your pup. Donkeys to visit as long as pups are protected. Fun horseshoe pit available. Only a maximum of 12 people would be on 40 acre space at a time. Everyone has their own space and time to use co-op- with respect others policie. .
Endless pines and oaks to wander through along our shady hillside. Great photography opportunities of insects, birds, Elk, Jack rabbits and Deer.
Just appreciate Novembers wild mushrooms or Autumn colors.
Summertime fun at the pond or fully recreational lake for kayaking or fishing.
Hunters paradise for the experienced deer, turkey or Elk if you have the right licenses and tags.
Other things to note
*High Fire Danger Season Warnings are controlled by county.
Which means it's highly likely that Fire Pits will be banned on random Red Flag days in the Summer/ Fall season. I will alert guests when burn ban is in effect.
**PLEASE be aware that this location is very remote and is at end of hour long dirt road! It is advisable to have a car that is not super low to the ground but equipped with GOOD quality tires.
4wheel drive is advised but not mandat

All guests must be accounted for before arrival. Please make sure you put total number on the reservation. Attempting to have guests (not on reservation) on property or in cabin is prohibited.
***Our Check-in window is (3-10pm) during the summer, fall/spring so... please respect. If you have issue with time we can plan accordingly for late check-in. Early check-in available with fee and prior heads up.
We may have to do a proper walk thru/ check-in morning after arrival if showing up late-un the dark. This way innkeeper can give you lay of land with lots of details.
It is very important to go over all details on this cabins profile before requesting reservation. Once accepted the Directions /Tips must be read copy/pasted before your departure. GPS and Address alone is never wise to solely rely upon.
Be respectful all living creatures, guests, innkeepers and neighbors.
Be aware and thoughtful of your surroundings. Conserving water and energy in off-grid living is Key to sustainability.
Lights out when leaving cabin or kitchen. Fans available in closets for hot weather months. In colder months the propane heater will turned on by innkeeper. Always use wisely and conservatively.
Quite Time is 10:30pm-7am
We do not discourage infants or children but demand that… your eyes and precence must be on them- at all times. The wilderness brings Bats, bees,snakes and spiders along with all the wonderful wildlife. Please, be sure to pack proper footwear to be worn at all times, for everyone.
Please follow guidelines for Fire Awareness when using fire pits (your host will give you upon arrival.) Also Indoor fireplace Safety Guideline if staying between fall/spring months.
l will be informing you of non burn/Red Flag warnings in the area if fires are prohibited.
DOG POLICY- This is a dog's happy place!
We allow well behaved (under voice command), immunized, potty trained dogs here. Just need PET Cleaning FEE is $25.00 per stay/per Dog. Please, bring cash for payment upon arrival. If you have service dog- please notify in reservation prior to check-in.
Pets must be leashed at all times! Unless in designated corral area. Must always clean up pet waste. You will be charged if you fail to do so. We have designated area for off leash play and ok to be around your campfire, under voice command. Lots of Fanwn and baby deer on property -that cannot be chased. The surrounding area has no leash law Sept-May. Leash law active on ranch May-August.
I have two resident donkeys on property below cabins in open field. We will go over ground rules for donkey interactions , if interested. This will be more important if you have children in your party. There are 2 dogs on property that we may introduce if need be.
****Please follow the 15mph speed limit within gates! And when exiting or entering gate-wait till it closes behind you. Fines are issued to vehicles who refuse to comply.
If for some reason you have car trouble we can assist with ride to town but must charge minimum of $150.00 for car assistance. If we are capable of the type of assist- you need. If we are not capable-
All in One Towing is available for $800 and up. to tow back over mountain. Car trouble is a huge obstacle here so please be sure to have vehicle in top condition and go slow.
As far as hunters, watercraft, dirt bike and other adventure seekers. Always refer to the Mendocino National Forest, Upper Lake Ranger Station and California Hunting /rider -safety manuals, rules and guides, prior to arrival. Proper license for fishing, hunting etc.
*****Mussel Stickers are mandatory for all watercraft on Lake.
All hunting is prohibited within the gates of Lake Pillsbury Ranch.
