Breakfast

Most everything we wanted to do was within walking distance. The layout and area for breakfast was great, and the food was good. Both mornings we were there, tho', the selection was the same. Would've been nice to have a change.
Our room, was decent size and the bed was comfortable and clean. But the overall room was dark, had been wet (dehumidifier was set up and running under the sink), and was desperately in need of upgrading/renovating/modernizing (carpet was dark red; furniture was old; lighting was minimal; bathroom door had a hole in it....). We were comfortable enough and luckily weren't confined to our room due to bad weather or something. For the price we paid, we are able to say the room was "just good. Not great, not bad---just good".

Location. Cleanliness. Breakfast. Pool maintained well

The view was great. The patio was nice.
Dirty rooms, i.e., sticky stuff on the wall, jacuzzi tub gross ring, trash on patio, Lume bag in top drawer next to bed... In order to get to the breakfast area, you must walk outside, across the parking lot, and up the stairs to the 3rd floor. Checkout time clearly stated as 11am, housekeeping barged in at 10 and opened the door as I was still soaking in tub. Unacceptable!!!

The location was amazing! We walked pretty much everywhere. The pool and hot tub were both fantastic! We spent over 12 hours total, and it was a great temp and plenty of room when there was alot of people. Breakfast had several options. Staff was friendly and helpful when we needed something! They have fireworks out back on the lake Sundays and Fridays and it's a great show! Would definitely recommend this hotel.
Beds weren't the most comfortable ever, but weren't horrible.

The location is convenient near the ferry's for trips to Makinaw island
The hotel is a bit dated. Could use some updates.

convenient location
older decor in the rooms. carpet really dark and could not tell if it was clean or dirty

I enjoyed that the property was within walking distance to what Mackinaw City has to offer. Once you’ve got your room, you can park and walk to where you’d like to go.
The first room we booked had disgusting items coming out of the jacuzzi jets (we booked a jacuzzi tub room). This may be of no fault to the property but the bugs flying all over were horrible to the extent they got in your mouth, all over clothes and you had to rush to shut the door as not to have them in your room.

soft bed, huge space, toilettes are awesome
breakfast time too short, the balcony need improvements, lamps are dusty, looks old, no bottled water in fridge, bed sheet super used. never see wifi password. I didn't even ask for it.

location
it was super dark with thin walls and no sound insulation. facilities are dated and over used. I felt like I was in a cattle car.

The hotel was very convenient to everything we needed like the ferry, restaurants, and beach. We located it quickly right off the interstate and were pleasantly surprised by the view from our balcony onto Lake Huron. Breakfast included fruit, eggs, ham, breads, pancakes, cereal, yogurt, and drinks. My husband and grandson were able to enjoy it all, but I would have appreciated a few gluten free options for myself.
During checkin I realized that the pool was not accessible indoors from my room. It was necessary to cross the parking lot and the lobby to access it and leave. Temps were in the 40s-50s, so I decided not to use it. Unfortunately, that was one of the main reasons I chose the hotel. My grandson LOVED the pool and did not mind the cold walk back to the room :)

It was by the water and close to downtown.
!st room we had there was bed bugs. We were moved to another room right away. But was not offered a discount on are room or further stay.

The pool hours because you could go out during the day and still use the pool when you got back late. I also loved that we could walk out the patio door up onto the beach. don’t even get me started on how lovely the staff were. We ran late for check in and they called to check on us. I love that. they were also so sweet to my Grand daughter when she asked silly 7 year old type questions. They deserve a bonus!
the ice machine near our room didn’t work. I know they can be tricky and understand things break down but there wasn’t even a sign on it saying out of order, I had to find out the hard way. then I had to search for another one. A simple note stating the nearest working one would have been helpful.

The room, pool, and hot tub were clean.
The staff was not friendly or helpful. The breakfast selection could have been better.

Location was excellent. The room and furnishings were very nice. Nice little balcony and view of the water. Breakfast buffet was very good. Best hotel in Mackinaw City we have stayed at so far.
The shower was slightly smaller than some.

the hot tub in the room was so nice to enjoy, I’ve never had a more comfortable stay
if I have to nitpick I couldn’t park near my room I guess

While the facility could use updating, it was very clean and quiet for sleep. Bed was very comfortable. Pretty much everything from dining and shopping is withing walking distance. Was located directly on the beach. Beautiful sunrise views as this hotel is on the east side of the town.
Bathroom area was small with just the tub/shower and toilet. Sink was on the outside of bathroom - hallway to bedroom.
While the access to beach was right outside the sliding door, people have been feeding the seagulls and they were just abundant over the entire beach and a nuisance.
Two days is more that enough for the area...a day on shore and a day on the island enough.

The Mirror on the closet door was cracked I told the maid a woman who told me to tell the front desk. she then told another maid a guy who was standing there down the hall who said something quietly to her. I told the front desk lady who was there all 3 days I stayed and never smiled I felt like I was bothering her when I asked questions. When I told her about the mirror she said oh we know we already took measurements. So don’t you think before I checked in if you knew, why didn’t you tell me so I didn’t go threw all of this thinking I was going to be charged for a cracked Mirror? wast of my time, I’m supposed to be on vacation. I also told her about the huge water mark on the ceiling in the bathroom and the fact that every time we took a shower there was a high pitch noice when you turned the water to hot you went def trying to relax. Her response ok will look at it. This same lady when I checked in asked me how I was and I told her I was cold it was 65 degrees I packed for 85 degree weather. she then asked me if I have ever visited Mackinaw before and I told her multiple times her response you should know better then. That’s not what I wanted to hear I was there to celebrate my birthday and she honestly was the rudest human being I have ever had coming to this location. I was hoping to get a bottom floor so we could just walk right out side on to the sand from our room. I asked her about it and she said nothing was in the notes on booking.com and the only room that was available with our room style was on the 4 floor. I know for a fact this isn’t true because I’ve stayed at this location many times and I remember writing in the comments I wanted a bottom floor, she didn’t even try to switch it said it was the only room. I will never stay at best western again. like I said I have been to mackinaw multiple times and I always stay here but never again because of the rude staff and crappy room for 650 dollars for my birthday I got crappy service.

The pool was nice and warm!

The beach was right outside the door. Nice having the door open listening to the waves. Kids could go play in the sand right outside the patio.
Wasn’t the cleanest. There was hair on our bed under the pillows. Something was splattered on the wall.

convenient location and reasonable price.
Room had large hot tub taking up a lot of space. Noise from parking lot bothersome.

The location was perfect! we were right on the lake and our room had a balcony on the lake.
Housekeeping was spotty. The first day, soiled towels were removed and replaced with clean towels. The second day, when we returned, all of our pillowcases had been removed and thrown on the room chairs. I had to call the front desk for replacement pillow cases. the old ones were never removed from room. I don’t think housekeeping entered our room after that- soiled towels were not removed. I’m not sure what housekeeping is done but normally rooms are vacuumed and towels are replaced.
The breakfast was nice, but closes early so we were only able to go one morning.
The front desk staff was helpful and accommodating- especially the night desk clerk when we arrived at 1am.
2.5
location was good , staff was nice , room was available for early check in
pool room floor was very dirty with dirt , wads of hair , bandaid in pool, beer bottles left behind from guests next to pool ((I cleaned up the empty bottles so my kids wouldn’t ask what they were)) , toilet in pool room was clogged .
3.5
Great location
Room smelled musty
