The staff are always lovely and the rooms are stunning! So close to the centre.
In summer its really difficult to cool down in the rooms and our last room had a small fan which didn't do masses to help 😅 thats the onllyy negative though!

Beautiful estate, very nice room. Comfy bed and stylish interior.
Staff very professional and accommodating.
The breakfast was delicious as well.
Nitpicking but providing feedback to improve even more.
The showerhead clean but hadn’t been descaled for a while so the rain-shower sprayed in all directions at first.
The fan in the bathroom was quite loud and the toilet was really tight between the wall and the sink.
The lighting setup was a bit strange with very large bedside lamps that had a separate switch from the main ceiling lights which had a switch by each bedside. Integrating those with that switch (separately) and replacing them with a smaller lamp would make that more comfortable and intuitive.
There was a very bright green LED in the ceiling by the door. It might have been there as emergency lighting to illuminate the exit but it was bright enough to be a distraction when trying to sleep.

It was a perfect location for our needs. We were driving from Edinburgh to London, so an overnight in York was our exact need. It’s close enough to Old York to allow you to easily walk into the older part of the city to sightsee, shop, or select a restaurant.
There was no indication when we booked that we would be on a third floor walk-up. Somewhat difficult for a 67 y/o man with a mobility handicap.

We had a very warm welcome from the reception. As we arrived there a bit early the room was not ready for us to leave our bags, however they helped us with storing our luggage. It’s a very decent and clean hotel 5/7 minutes walking distance from the old town. It was lovely to experience the history even during our accommodation. Thank you!

Super boutique decor
Lovely bathroom
Good location - parking - leisurely 10 min walk to York minster

A little gem. Very Soho House decor - but without the price tag. Really pretty rooms and very cosy. Helpful staff and delicious breakfast.
Towel radiator in my bathroom didn’t work. The front desk did say they had some plug in radiators I could borrow though and were very helpful.

Great breakfast, nice quiet location, lovely decor.
The hotel was really lovely but we’d paid for a deluxe room - the roof was leaking when we went up to bed. They seemed a bit hesitant about moving us but we couldn’t stay in the room so we insisted on moving. To be honest I’m not sure how it wasn’t picked up the roof was leaking in the room we were originally given. The room they moved us to was nice but not equivalent to the room we’d actually booked and paid for and aside from the person that moved us no one else spoke to us or offered to refund the difference which I didn’t think was great. I probably wouldn’t return.

Very good sitting room and breakfast area. Very pleasantly decorated with excellent attention to detail . Chandeliers were amazing! Rowntree and fruit pastels rooms with fabulous with huge bay windows and balcony in round Rowntree room .
Size of cooked breakfast was small but adequate. In-room 18 terrible sewer smell from bathroom. . Staff were able to ease the situation thankfully

Friendly attentive staff; comfortable bed; breakfast food excellent. Superb decor!
Booking.com confirmation said to call the hotel to reserve parking, whereas in fact it is first come first served (hotel's own website had correct info)
Strict allocation of breakfast table seating jarred a bit (you WILL sit here!) on the morning of the first full day, until it was explained that there were 27 rooms and only 9 tables.....might be worth a sentence explaining that on the website under the 'breakfast' section of the main menu.

Room was lovely and all the staff were very helpful and polite.

An absolute gem of a hotel will definitely return.

Bar was great and service there was fantastic
We got a different room that we paid for- I had to talk to receptionist to change to larger with the sofa that was advertised. They did move us eventually because I couldn’t stay in that tiny claustrophobic room. Bed was so small that my partner had to sleep diagonally just to fit in. Not the best for over £160 per night we paid, not even a coffee machine in room.

Beautiful building & furnished with loads of character
Our room was very small, but lovely

It was a lovely property in a good location
There was no air conditioning in our room and the 2 nights we spent were humid
It caused us to have 2 poor sleeps
4.5
The quirkiness of the interior decoration and the garden where a log fire is accessed.
Sometimes things are discovered from other visitors (dirty kettle) which can go unnoticed by the cleaning staff. This was however sorted after the issue was raised in reception.

The first room was much to small and no privacy from other windows unless you closed the heavy blackout curtains. However I was moved to a lovely room.
Breakfast was very nice served by friendly staff.
Nothing. All really nice accept the very small bedroom

The decorations and friendly staff are what make this place. Decent location, just under 15 min walk to the minster.
If you don't eat egg there aren't many breakfast options. Pastries were tiny, not good enough for £16 a Head really.

The location of this hotel is probably it's strongest point. It's a 10 minute walk from The Minster and the riverside. The décor in Clementines is quite unique as hotel décor goes. Myself and my wife personally loved it. The breakfast was excellent although the breakfast order slip was a little confusing but the staff were very helpful. Amenities in the room were also very good. The ensuite was spacious and well equipped. The shower was excellent.
We stayed in room 15 which unfourtunatley had the soil waste pipe running through it that serviced at least two more bedrooms above ours. Every time one of the higher toilets was flushed the noise could be heard quite clearerly rushing through the pipework that travelled through room 15. The noise in the daytime wasn't to bad but if like me you are a light sleeper and someone decides they need to use the toilet in the late evening or early morning you are going to know about it. There was also a prominent green light in the room coming from what looked like a fire alarm. It looked like someone had tried to cover this before with a piece of black electrical tape but the tape was pealing of again. Also no ground level opening window only two small Velux roof lights about 3 metres above the bed that didn't look like they had been opened since they were installed.
