It's a cosy cottage build in 1892. Don't expect a modern look , it's old with a modern touch. We stayed a fortnight here and it was a pretty homecoming base. Jane is a wonderful host and can't do enough for you.

Everything we could of needed, cottage was clean, very down to earth and homely. Jane was an excellent host, she and everyone in the area was so friendly. The walks were lovely and so much to do nearby

We spent Thurs-Mon in Jane and Malcolm’s lovely cottage. The location is incredible and we were blessed with some fantastic weather! The cottage had everything we needed. The sheep and chickens outside are brilliant and our little one had so much fun watching them. Our dog has been on some incredible walks in the woods on the doorstep and at some of the tourist areas nearby.
We’ve had such an amazing stay and can’t that Jane enough for being a wonderful host!

The property was immaculate and well equipped. The host, Jane was extremely friendly and helpful. A quiet peaceful spot with chickens and sheep wondering around on the common land outside the enclosed garden. My only criticism is that the staircase was steep and difficult for me but it didn’t spoil our stay. I shall recommend to friends.

We had a fantastic time in this cottage.
The sheep and chickens are walking freely around the cottage, but can't access the garden/cottage through the gate. This makes it perfect for small children and pets as well, because they can't just run into the low-traffic street.
Everything needed was provided, even bed linen, towels, some cleaning supplies etc. Wifi was fully operational and stable (important for the children) and Netflix, Youtube and Twitch could be connected to the smart-tv. USB-ports are in the wall of the living room as well, to charge any device.
The kitchen provides an oven as well as microwave, a refrigerator and freezer and of course a toaster and kettle.
The bathroom has a bath and a seperate shower and the bedrooms are large.
The cottage is close to the forest as well, so perfect for a walk.
The owners were very kind and welcoming and showed us around when arriving. They gave some sightseeing tips in the neighbourhood and since they are living in the house next to this cottage, so it's easy to get in contact when anything is needed.
Thank you very much, Jane and Malcolm, you were part of making our holiday a wonderful experience!

We had such a lovely stay at Jane’s cottage. It is located in such a special quiet spot with views in the distance of the forest and with chickens and sheep grazing on the lawns out front. It’s so peaceful and quiet. The cottage is very simple and charming and feels like going back in time a bit. Everything was spotlessly clean and Jane went above and beyond to make us comfortable and ensure our stay was perfect. Perfect for a special weekend away in exploring and foraging around the Wye.

We had a wonderful time, and Jane was a supremely accommodating host. The cottage was warm and cozy, plenty of hot water, very comfy beds, full kitchen, plenty of space to park out front. In a very beautiful area, lovely walk through the forest right outside. A short drive into the town of Lydney for restaurants if you don't want to cook. Very close to Go Ape, Puzzlewood, and many other attractions. I came with my 12 year-old son and his friend, we had 3 fun-filled days, and it was a sheer pleasure coming home at night to the cottage. Jane lent my son a football, and she gave us a torch for a night walk through the woods. Very, very highly recommended. Thanks again, Jane!!!

Property was lovely apart from having no hot water or central heating when we arrived ! Owner was waiting to explain and apologise and promised it would be fixed the next day. Thankfully it was but having no hot water for a night was a pain! But host couldn’t have been more apologetic and concerned. Unfortunate start and maybe we should have pushed for compensation but we didn’t and everything else was lovely

We stayed at the cottage with our children 11,9 and 3 months. It was our first time away with our baby. The cottage was beautifully clean which is just what you want when travelling with a small baby. Jane had put up the travel cot and taken great care to get everything ready for us.
The boys loved seeing the chicken and sheep just outside the cottage door. They named the sheep!
We would definitely stay again when visiting the gorgeous Forest of Dean.
