Food was delicious, and it was fun to have family style meals to meet the other guests. The huts are nice, comfortable and peaceful. Close to the beach, but beware there is a steep, rocky/uneven road between the property and the main road that takes some effort (or a 4WD vehicle). Appreciated the honor system snacks and drinks in the main house with very reasonable prices. Manager Fabienne was an absolute lifesaver! She was in constant contact with us before we left the U.S. and as we traveled from Costa Rica, providing invaluable recommendations on how to get there, including connecting us with a driver who took great care of us the entire week while staying here and in Granada. Whatever she is being paid isn't enough!
Should provide soap/shampoo in the bathrooms for convenience of guests.

This was one of the worst travel experiences I have had in my life. I arrived and they had no record of my stay. They were EXTREMELY rude and did not even apologize or make us feel like they had made any mistake. The property was in shambles and we had to go find another hotel late at night. DO NOT BOOK.

Great room in the tree canopy
The access road is a disaster. Must have 4 wheel drive to get up the gravel hill. Walking to beach and back is a problem if you are not in surfer condition

We loved every minute of our stay at BVSC. Our room had beautiful views in a secluded setting. The communal spaces were relaxing & well designed. The staff were incredibly helpful & worked hard to make sure all the guests were happy. The food was delicious & the property was kept immaculately clean.
There was nothing to not like!

All of it! Ian who’s managing the place made me feel very welcome and I met a bunch of other cool people there as well. Such a nice vibe and the place in itself is clean, comfortable and has everything you need (you can even take an ice bath free of charge!!). The food was amazing too!
I don’t even have one thing to mention here.

This place is a gem. The most beautiful setting overlooking the jungle and sea. Breakfast and dinner are great quality served family style and the place attracts a nice social crowd to share it with. The staff go above and beyond and Ian and Chris immediately feel like mates I enjoyed chatting with. Great amenities such as surfboards and classes, yoga classes, gym onside, honesty bar and special nights (pizza).

Ian was very helpful via WhatsApp prior to my visit. Great view from the shared area. The room was basic but comfy. Many reviews had mentioned a great breakfast, but I've often seen reviews like that and then found a meal to be unexceptional. But the breakfasts here were terrific. I'm not usually keen on shared meals, but it worked well here as there was a great spread of food each morning (fruit, oatmeal, pancakes, vast bowls of scrambled eggs, gallo pinto (rice 'n' beans), warm bread rolls, cream cheese, butter, honey) and it was fun meeting the other people staying there. Snacks and drinks were available via an honesty payment system.
Be aware that the road to reach the property can't be driven by a normal car so you do need a 4x4 vehicle. I struggled with the walk down to the beach as it's very steep and the surface is scree which my dodgy knee doesn't cope well with. This is NOT a criticism of the property, and it will be true of other properties nearby too, but other visitors might like to be aware of this beforehand.

The vibe, the walk to the beach, the food, the set up, the comfy common areas, the yoga, the view, the staff, the massage, the surf, the sunsets, the incredibly attentive staff who go above and beyond, sunday funday, the breakfasts, the other guests, the San Juan del Sur coffee shops, comfy beds, the nature..
Absolutely nothing!! Except maybe bring earplugs as nature can get loud

Amazing breakfast, friendly and helpful staff and so close to Playa Maderas!

You live in a large common area which is like a balkony above the woods. Ian succeeds in connecting people. Your private area is a very cosy individual house.
Nothing - everything was perfect.
