Lovely hotel, very helpful and friendly staff, good comfortable room, value for money, exceptional breakfast choice
There was work going on outside, I know this can't be helped but it would of been nice if we were told beforehand

it was a very cosy and welcoming place to stay.
The only thing I might change was the bar area it lacked a little bit of atmosphere.

warm, full of history, great staff.
very high bed. weak shower in Beech room.

property is really nice. bedrooms are big and comfy. The town is lovely.
bar/restaurant. For our dinner we were discouraged to order the Wellington beef because it’ll take about 45 min.. so we order regular steaks that took them 50 min to be served! in the meantime we witnessed a very loud and heated discussion between members of the staff.. it was super uncomfortable and that leaves us all neglected at the tables because there was no member of staff to be seen for a long time.
Breakfast was another disappointment, my eggs were really bad, the hollandaise sauce was something awful. my husband had scrambled eggs with salmon and felt immediately sick.
Reception staff was not concerned when I told her. Instead of an apology or ask how he was she found it hard to believe…. Really a shame because is a nice place.

Everything was perfect. Staff particularly friendly and helpful, every last person.
Being picky, but dining room not intimate enough for evening meal. Lights too bright and it's a bit like a posh canteen. Better to eat in the bar. It's very atmospheric. Also entrance to reception from side lane not sufficiently signposted. One sign on inner door saying 'reception this way' would be helpful.

Fantastic location, staff were very friendly and made some lovely gestures as it was our anniversary.
Evening meal was excellent. Garden room was very comfortable (shame too cold to have the doors open!)
Couple of issues, flashing wardrobe light woke me up at 3am (removed it and told them in the morning) also the fold back screen on side of bath does not seal and poured water everywhere, you can see this is a daily occurrence, as it’s causing damage to surrounding materials (again made them aware of this). English breakfast was awful, overcooked.

Cute traditional room and decor. Lovely town and shops nearby.
6.0 / 10.0
Nice hotel, very comfortable, well equipped room. Receptionist was very pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast service poor, half of menu not available due to lack of one bought in ingredient which one would expect to be prepared on the premises. Felt staff were doing the minimum possible, needed to ask for all the basics eg cutlery etc
At a 4 star hotel would expect more service ie drinks ordered at the bar to be brought to our table. Got the impression that the hotel is being run with as few people as they can get away with.

lovely area, hotel very clean and staff friendly
easy for exploring local area
noise from outside the room , I think from a boiler/air con unit ,
no shower in our room , when booking said it had one
